About this property

A charming apartment full of character, all on one floor, sleeps two people in a cosy double bedroom. Shower and kitchen with gas hob and microwave. Wood burning stove for winter and Air conditioning. This is the ideal place to stay if you want to immerse yourself in Spanish life and explore Almunecar town, enjoy the local food and many cultural interests and fiestas in Andalusia. The beach is within 5 mins walking distance. It is up high, near San Miguel castle up a steep hill so anyone with walking difficulties should be aware of this. There is wifi .

Double bedroom with cotton bed linen, wardrobe and air conditioning. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. The kitchen has a gas hob with a microwave, fridge toaster and kettle. There is a basic larder. Wood burning stove in the winter. We provide hand, bath and beach towels for your use, hand wash and shower gel. There is a comfortable sitting/dining room with television and wifi.

Neighborhood overview

Almunecar is a wonderful place to base yourself, it offers numerous water sports, hiking, cycling, paragliding. There are many walks close by taking you to breathtaking places. With over 19 kilometres of local coastline you will be at a loss to choose which one of the 25 beaches to choose from. The old town is Medieval in origin with steep winding streets, full of shops bars and lovely places to eat which lead up to the Moorish castle. It is hard to get a drink without a free accompanying tapas. Culturally rich and historically fascinating there are many things to discover .The Costa Tropical is named after its tropical climate so the fruit and vegetables are grown extensively in the area, avocados mangoes and the famous Cherimoyas and papayas are common place. Granada offers skiing and Motril has a lovely golf course. The drive is an easy one or you can take a bus from the bus station at little expense. We have tourist information in the house so that you can plan what you might like to do when you stay. There is something for everyone in this beautiful part of Andalusia.

Getting around
Taxis are affordable and we can recommend some reliable drivers to you for your stay. There is also a bus station were you can take day trips to Granada to see the Alhambra palace. Nerja Caves. Sierra Nevada national park and many more places further afield such as Seville Ronda etc. You can also charter boats to take you around the various bays. Travelling is easy here and not expensive.

Estancia perfecta

El apartamento es perfecto para una o dos personas, muy acogedor y con perfectas comunicaciones a todo el pueblo además de acceso rápido a la playa. Nos prestaron toallas de baño, playa, sombrillas y sillas lo cual fue un buen detalle. Comunicación rápida y agradable con los encargados del apartamento que nos hizo sentirnos muy cómodos. Está equipado con todo lo necesario y cerca hay una pequeña tienda para comprar lo básico. Por ponerle alguna pega, el aire acondicionado es bastante ruidoso así que por la noche no resulta cómodo, pero repetiría la experiencia sin dudarlo.

El acortamiento está muy bien situado, en pleno centro de Almuñécar, apenas hay que bajar una calle para llegar a la playa. Muy recomendable y económico.

Old town Almuñecar charming apartment near the Castle

We loved staying in this apartment. It is small but was bigger than the pictures show. It has beautiful character and had everything we needed for our holiday. The hill up from the beach seemed daunting at first but we quickly realized it was actually a quick walk. We really enjoyed going the opposite direction away from the beach where we discovered numerous shops, restaurants, bars, plazas with cafés serving cold drinks and delicious ( free ) tapas. The intricate and winding streets meant we rarely knew where we were headed but we always found our way once we got to flat ground. We enjoyed the beach, which is pebbly, not sandy, walking to the fish market, the aqueduct, the amazing calamari at Lut y Jesus ( locations all over Almuñecar) , the pottery market, the Architectural ruins and the fabulous Castillo de San Miguel which is literally around the corner from the apartment ( like 25 steps ). From the wall by the Castillo we listened to the nightly jazz playing in the park below us. We went to a local bar to watch Flamenco. This apartment is located in the perfect spot to get to all the wonderful places in Almuñecar with just a short walk. The kitchen is small but efficient, the bathroom/ shower was great- hot water on demand. The a/c unit is in the bedroom which was perfect during the heatwave we experienced. Finally, Sara was amazing at communicating with us. Sara and Luis greeted us at the apartment upon our arrival, gave us lots of tips, jotted down points of interest on a lovely map of Almuñecar and spoiled us by having some drinks in the fridge as we arrived on a Sunday when the shops were closed. A perfect spot for your next holiday for two!

A lovely small apartment

We stayed in this apartment for almost a week and felt very comfortable. Sara and Louis took care of us during our stay (as well as before and after), we have been welcomed so friendly and both offered their help at any time. The apartment is quite small, but very cosy and we found everything we needed (e.g. in the kitchen). We were given two chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach, which we enjoyed very much :-) Within a few minutes you arrive at the beach by foot and the beaches are very clean. The house is situated in the old town, almost next to the Castillo, which is also great.
