Modern farmhouse in a quiet relaxing countryside location sleeps 6/7

Built in the traditional Algarve style with fantastic wood beamed ceilings throughout this spacious farmhouse has been extensively refurbished to a high standard to include Air-conditioning throughout. It has 3 double bedrooms and a new fitted kitchen with dining area & all mod cons including American fridge/freezer with ice maker. The living room has a 42' TV with Sat & DVD. The Quinta stands in its own private grounds of 40,000sq mtrs and is an ideal holiday home for families. The terrace and outside covered eating area is situated by the pool and pool bar(with fridge & music centre) this is ideal for evening BBQ's. The pool is accessed via steps to the shallow end (80cm) ideal for children and the deep end is 1.7 mtrs. The terrace looks out over the grounds planted with Orange, Lemon, Almond, Fig & Olive trees. The farmhouse is situated close to the local town of Moncarapacho with all its shops and cafe's but the area retains the true Portuguese character unspoilt by tourism.

Things to do: Although the Quinta dos Cavalos is situated in the eastern Algarve being placed close to the major roads means that it is ideal to travel to see the sights. The capital of the Algarve, Faro, is 20kms away and is a busy European city with a new shopping mall containing multi screen cinema, food hall and designer boutiques, and a large supermarket, but also has the older town still unspoilt. The closest beach at Fuseta is only 15 min drive but both Fuseta and Olhao run small ferries to the islands of the famous Ria Formosa with all the most unspoilt beaches of the Algarve. Within a 40min drive you have all the tourist attractions eg. water-slide park, zoo marine (with swimming with the dolphins), casinos nightclubs ect. The other way Spain is only 52kms away with Seville 2hr drive and Gibraltar 4hr drive.

Assistance: Julian who looks after things will be only to happy to help you in any way from assistance in the house to advice on places to go and local eating places. He will also meet and greet all guests. Directions and a map will be provided to give you directions from the airport. .

Beautiful quiet villa in picturesque surroundings

We have just returned from our stay in this beautiful villa which is situated in the countyside with lovely views. The villa is very large, cool ,clean and comfortable and has everything you need from a home from home. It is tastefully decorated and furnished and has provided us with a very relaxing holiday. It's lovely to have beaches nearby and the luxury of a pool for those really lazy days. The Eastern Algarve is well worth a visit - the people are great, the food delicious and the prices very reasonable. We found some excellent restaurants venturing inland and also in Moncarapacho. There are plenty of places to visit with lots of history instead of a beach day. Jason, the owner, is a delight. He always responded very promptly to any emails and provided us with a friendly and efficient experience. Thank you Jason.

Quiet spacious villa

We stayed at this villa for 2 weeks.

You'll find the villa has everything you need, although it could benefit from some new dinnerware if like us you like everything to match but we appreciate that many people don't take care of these things when hiring a villa which makes it difficult for owners.

The photo's don't really do the villa justice, the living room is well equipped and comfy although it gets the sun most of the day so keep the curtains closed to keep the heat down. The kitchen area is very spacious if you wanted to eat in and has all mod cons (if you want to use the coffee machine in the villa you'll need to get some coffee pods from Aldi none of the other shops did ones which fitted!)

The villa is approx. 10 minutes by car into Moncarapacho itself where you have a bakery, a small supermarket and a few restaurants.

From the villa you have a direct road to Olhao where you have access to much larger supermarkets Jumbo, Modelo as well as some you'll probably know Aldi and Lidl. In Olhao you also have what feels like an unlimited number of restaurants to choose from.

Ask Keith for details of a great restaurant on the front which served very good food, we also liked the one 2 doors along which midweek offered 3 courses for just 7.90 euro. Dessert was fruit but the sea bass was excellent.

The owners parents live next door so although the villa is in a quiet location you do have people close by if needed.

For sun lovers the pool area is simply fantastic, in May you could sit in the sun from before 9 till about 7pm if you moved the loungers even later. Surprisingly the pool was quite warm, normally we find pools in Portugal freezing and if you need to escape the sun or for eating outdoors the seating area is covered to give some shade.

If you prefer the beech you have Fuseta about 25 minutes away or can travel to the more touristy areas in about an hour.

Would not hesitate in going back to this villa.

Comfortable and relaxing

Set in lovely gardens with orange, lemon and tangerine trees. The grounds are a haven for wildlife. The modern villa is spotlessly clean and comfortable, with no steps so ideal for the less mobile. Keith and Thelma are helpful and accommodating, but not intrusive. Our third visit to the area and the best villa we have stayed in.

Lovely spacious, clean villa

This was our second stay at this villa and again we were not disappointed. This is a lovely, well furnished/equipped, spacious villa and very clean. There is plenty of outside space with seating areas and a salt water pool. Keith and Mary live in the nearby house and are very friendly, helpful and can give lots of useful advice. It is a bit off the beaten track but that is why we like it. We would definitely recommend this villa to family and friends.

Quinta dos Cavalos is situated in the countryside outside of Moncarapacho with all its cafe's, shops, PO, bank, pharmacy & petrol station. We are also only a short distance from the Olhao junction on the A22 which is the main motorway across the Algarve giving access to the airport.

The beaches are all within a short drive with the nearest being Fuseta with its beach bars and a ferry to other beaches on the islands. The town of Olhao is only a 15/20 min drive which is the largest fishing port in the Algarve with it's daily fresh fish and fruit and veg market, and contains the larger supermarkets, shops and restaurants. Olhao peir runs small passenger ferries (15min ride) across to the idyllic islands of Armona & Farol with its beaches and restaurants.

Golf: The farmhouse is ideally placed for golf courses with a small 9 hole course within a 10min drive and larger championship courses to both the east and west. Please note that to play golf you will need your handicap certificate and soft spike shoes. All these courses are within a 30min drive away.

We request that you do not smoke inside the property but are welcome to smoke anywhere outside. All the terracing is south facing and gets the sun all day and there is a Pagoda which is covered and provides shading to eat under. The pool is accessed by steps into the shallow end which is 80cms deep making it ideal for children but they must be supervised as the deep end is 1.7meters deep. The pool bar can be used by guests and contains optics and music system which has the facility for your to plug in your MP3's or iPod's, to enable you to listen to music whilst swimming or sunbathing and there is an outside shower which we would request that people use before entering pool. For the cooler winter evenings each room has plug radiators and living room has a wood burner. The garden and pool maintenance is provided.
