We moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Montana to turn the clock back in a rural alpine setting with mountains, water and trees - the Montana dream! We're still near civilization with the towns of Livingston (35 miles away) & Bozeman (50 miles away) that have amenities such as the university in Bozeman, a very good hospital, excellent art galleries and great dining. Our place has allowed us to build and expand our studio, enjoy the outdoors with its abundant wildlife - it's a 24/7 vacation for us!
One walk on the property and we were sold because of the one acre pond, Horse Creek running along its border and the heavy Doug Fir forest for us to play in. An additional bonus is the great neighbors doing a wide variety of things from ranching to the arts (painters, writers, photographers & more) to cowboys and the fun and excitement that Wilsall brings with it's seasonal events and just hanging out. And there's road trips!
We were fortunate enough to get to stay a week at Ed and Diane's cabin. We couldn't have asked for a better time. We were looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, and that's definitely what we got! The location was perfect for all we wanted to do; Yellowstone a couple days, fishing, and hiking trails were all close enough to explore. Thank you so much for the beautiful cabin and the hospitality!
We were so blessed to have found this amazing piece of Montana. The cabin was just the right distance from all the towns we visited and also Yellowstone. The family of deer was just a great addition. The wildlife on the road to the cabin was different every night on the way home. The cabin is comfortable and really beautifully decorated. Thank you Ed and Diane for a wonderful week in Montana.
The cabin was amazing, details were beautiful. Loved how it is cozy yet open. The deck was fun to sit at while listening and watching wildlife. We saw a doe with two fawns both days, they hung out around the cabin in the mornings and evenings. Hiked up to the top of the property and saw an owl fly by and a beautiful sunset. The quiet country road was fun to take evening walks. We didn't drive anywhere for the two days we were there. We brought groceries so we ate all our meals there, watched movies, listened to cd`s, read and took walks. An amazing way to relax and get away.
After a week of exploring Yellowstone, Tetons, and the back roads of Idaho and Montana, my wife and I wanted to spend a couple of nights away from the tourists and the noise. Cabin was exactly as we wanted! Extra Clean, nice views from their hiking trail and private. We drove in from Bozeman(bought groceries in Bozeman), and the driving directions were great. Private parking and private driveway. The rolling thunderstorm's in the valleys was also a bonus. Wish we would have booked for a longer stay! If we decide to go to Glacier NP, will book again.
I stayed a total of 4 nights in this cabin, which is perfectly tucked away in the woods. I remember walking in and feeling at home right away. I was so impressed by the details and couldn’t believe this was a “cabin”. Ed and Diane have truly out done themselves with this beautiful getaway home. If the cabin wasn’t enough, the view on top of their property is breath taking- I think I took a million pictures of this view! They have two benches positioned up there so you can sit and just soak in the view and the perfect quietness. It was a spot I frequented a lot and basically got lost in the view.
Driving to the surrounding cities does take about an hour or two depending on how far out you want to go, but trust me, the drive is one of the best parts of the trip. Montana has so many different landscapes all around that everywhere you turn; you have something gorgeous to look at.
I was very sad to leave and have already discussed coming back and staying again next summer! I highly recommend booking your next Montana adventure here!
This amazing cabin was the perfect getaway for a long labor day weekend. The cabin was amazingly done with small little touches everywhere from the kitchen doors to the dresser, you can tell the cabin is owned by artists. The cabin was so cozy and the bed so comfy it would have been hard to leave it every day if it wasn't for the view. There was a hiking trail up to the top of the hill where you could get an amazing view of the mountains and the stars were unbelievable at night. It was the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I was very sad to leave and hope to make a return trip where I can stay longer soon.
Hiking & mountain fishing in the beautiful Crazy & Bridger Mountains, blue ribbon fishing along the Shields & Yellowstone rivers, downhill and cross country skiing, Frisbee golf, catch a local rodeo, see museums and art galleries, dine in small town cafes or finer dining in Livingston or Bozeman. See Yellowstone Park just 90 minutes away!
