Weather: A lot of people consider the Costa Del Sol to have the best climate in mainland Europe. Averaging over 320 days of sunshine a year. Not over hot in summer [when other parts of the Med exceed 38oC]. And warmer sunnier and drier in winter [when most of Europe is below freezing the warmest place is likely to be the Costa Del Sol. Jan temps mid 60'S]. Nerja however has an even better climate than the rest of the coast. It has its own micro climate as a result of the sheltered bay and the mountains directly behind. El Capistrano Playa itself is very sheltered. There is nearly always a cooling breeze in the summer months and the lower terraces at the apartment is lovely and sheltered for sunbathing even in January. There is a local saying that well describes the climate, 'the sun spends the winter in Nerja and the breeze spends the summer'.

apartment522 is in a fabulous position within capistrano playa. It is top floor centre on so has stunning views out over the sea. And also to the mountains behind. It has full sun from sunrise to sunset if wanted between the 2 terraces. It has thru ventilation with windows back and front. Is light bright and airy. Is finished to a high contemporary standard. Air con. Free wifi. Full sky package tv. Easy access from the road. Close to the pool. Quiet and no noise from neighbours above as there is noone above!

Location within capistrano playa is one of the best for views and accessibility and both summer and winter sun.

Perfect location and perfect apartment

This apartment was perfect for what we wanted for this holiday. The location is stunning, with probably the best views we have had in over 40 years of holidaying. Sitting on the roof terrace, with a slight breeze to reduce the heat of the afternoon was just superb. We came with hand luggage only, and found using the train and local bus option from Malaga was easy. Would recommend a taxi from the bus station to the apartment - we had plenty of time so walked through the town, down to Burriana then up the dusty road - which was a slog after a long day travelling - couldn't use the walk through the gardens till we got the key from the apartment. The apartment lives up to the excellent photos on this site - right at the top of the complex, with fantastic views of the beach and the mountains from both terraces. We spent some time on the beach, but found it difficult to drag ourselves away from the roof terrace - what a superb place to spend a few hours. The apartment had everything we needed - modern, light and cool. The bed was fabulous, and the apartment now has air con. A car would be useful, but there is a local bus stop a 2 minute walk away - 1 Euro into Nerja, and a taxi back was about 8 Euros, so not bad. The steps have been mentioned - about 200 down to the beach, and about 400 back up (well it seemed like it!) But the gardens are very well kept, clean, safe - the pond appears to be fed by running water, so although it looks green on some photos, it is actually crystal clear, with fish, terrapins and frogs swimming round the water lilies, so we approached it as a pleasant walk and it was fine (and we are getting on a bit). The view made it worthwhile. There is a pool and snack bar a couple of minutes away, 10 minutes down to the beach, with loads of bars and restaurants, and then another 15 - 20 mins walk into town. 10 minute walk the other way to an excellent large and modern supermarket. Would we book again? In a heartbeat -as long as our kness hold out!

Been here many times before, will be back again!

Have just spent two weeks in apartment 522 and enjoyed every day, even if it was colder than usually. We had some problems: The front door lock would not open, but the locksmith rushed out in ten minutes on Easter monday and fixed the lock. Then we had no hot water because the heater gave up, but the owner's contact, Jo, contacted a very efficient serviceman, and in the course of a half day we could again enjoy a hot shower. We have already tried to book the same apartment before Easter next year, but when it was not possible , the owner contacted a friend of hers who has an apartment in the neighbourhood, and that solved our problem! We'll be back!

Fourth stay in this excellent apmt during february. And we will definately return next year. Must be one of the apmts in the area with the best view. Love it!! Excellent for two people.

Stroll along the palm-fringed Balcon de Europa. Watch the world go by. Visit Maro and the spectacular Cuevas De Nerja. Visit Frigiliana. A beautiful mountain village. Visit craft shops. wander the steep winding cobbled streets. On from there the road winds in to the National Park. A day trip away see the Picasso museum in Malaga. The breathtaking setting of Granada and the Alhambra. The sierra Nevada's. The glitz and glamour of Marbella.
