Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Castellina In Chianti - The Barn at Bagnaie

Beautifully restored 3-bed villa with large private garden. Shared 20 metre pool

The Barn at Bagnaie is a luxury 3-bedroom Tuscan villa, which we have modernised and furnished to a high standard.

The interior mixes traditional materials with Italian modern design. The large living room features an open log fireplace, original terracotta tiles and wooden doors leading out onto the south terrace and gardens. There is a separate kitchen/dining area fitted with marble worktops and equiped with all the utensils a serious food lover needs to be able to enjoy local market produce and Le Bagnaie's kitchen garden. There are also double doors from the kitchen leading out to the terrace and the vine-covered pergola. The villa's private landscaped garden - rich with cherry, pomegranate and fig trees and with a built-in BBQ - surrounds the property and enjoys 360-degree views of the countryside, including the distant Duomo of Siena to the south and the towers of San Gimignano to the west.

Our villa sits in the small hamlet of Bagnaie, where we share our hilltop with 7 other houses. We have a full time gardener who maintains the extensive gardens and grounds as well as the shared 20m pool, which is solar heated. There is also a tennis court can be used all year round and a boules pitch.

We have a local property manager (English and Italian speaking) who will be available during your stay to assist you where necessary.

We can arrange for meals to be cooked at the house for you if wanted by local chefs.

Wonderful slice of Tuscany Heaven

  • 5 of 5

My wide and I plus our two adult children and their significant others (6 total adults) spent a week at the Barn. The property, house, gardens, pool area and especially the view far exceeded our expectations. Truly, the pictures on the web site do not do the property justice. About a 1/2 mile off the main road up a dirt road (like many in Tuscany farm land), high atop one of the hills near Castellina is the hamlet of Le Bagnaie, made up of 8 separate fully remodeled homes, the Barn being one. All share the pool area, however during our stay we seldom shared the pool which is very large and immaculate. The Barn, as it's name implies is basically an old large stone barn that has been fully converted into an old style Italian farm house. Three bedrooms each with a full bath. Large kitchen with all appliances, pots, etc to cook for any size gathering. Overall, we were very impressed.

Great location and family rental

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful stay. There were seven of us in total and the house had plenty of room. Property is well maintained with a gorgeous view. The kids enjoyed the pool and the small kids pool was perfect for our 2 year old. Location is great for taking day trips into the surrounding cities like Siena, Pisa, and Florence but you will need a car. We enjoyed the small towns in Chianti and their weekly markets. The kids liked picking fresh vegetables out of the garden and Serena cooked for us an authentic Italian meal on 2 separate nights. They were by far the best meals we had in Italy! Jacky, the property manager is delightful and was attentive and responsive to the needs that arose during our stay. Overall, it was a good experience and even though there are other houses near we still felt like there was enough privacy.

We hired the Barn at Bagnaie to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday and it was nothing short of excellent.

We had 8 month old twins in our party and Jacky (the site manager) went out of her way to ensure there were cots and high chairs available.

The barn itself is perfectly appointed and, unlike many holiday rentals, has a kitchen fully-stocked will all the necessary equipment to properly self-cater. We would also highly recommend booking Serena (the cook) for at least one night during your stay. She turns up with all the ingredients for a delicious Tuscan meal, cooks, serves and does all the washing up! We also took advantage of a cooking lesson with Serena one night which was great fun too!

The barn is about a 20 minute drive from Sienna which makes for an excellent day trip and about 10 minutes from the town of Castelllina in Chianti which is perfect for food shopping or a meal out.

The site itself is perfectly maintained and the grounds are absolutely stunning, complete with breathtaking views over the Tuscan countryside.

We really can't recommend the barn enough and will definitely be finding an excuse to visit again in the very near future!

Beautifully presented barn in stunning countryside

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this converted barn - from the glorious views of the vineyard-strewn Tuscan countryside (absolutely picture-perfect) to the amenities inside the accommodation, which housed everything we could have wished for. Plenty of cooking utensils, a spacious living and dining area, comfy beds, a great shower and heaps of character. Plus the huge terrace is perfect for alfresco breakfasts, aperitivi and everything in between! The weather was a bit chilly for swimming, but the pool looked very enticing! A short drive to lots of great places to eat, too.

A Superb Place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Barn at Bagnaie from March 20-24. My entire family had a great time, enjoying every minute of our stay. From the moment you arrive, you begin to enjoy the amazing views the place has to offer from every corner. The sunrise and sunset are breath taking. Sitting outside, having a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine late afternoon.....priceless! The whole place is very quiet, peaceful.

Inside, the villa is beautiful, all rooms are ample, well decorated, with everything you need on it. The welcome note and the bottle of wine was a very nice gesture from Corin. The property manager gave us a call the day after we arrived to ask if everything was all right. We had one night Serena coking for us, enjoying very much the meal and her company too.

The villa is well located, with reasonable driving times to most of the little towns of the Tuscan Area.

This was our second trip to Tuscany and the first to the Barn at Bagnaie. For sure, our next trip to Chianti, will stay again at Bagnaie.

Classic Tuscan Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

The Barn was home to six of us for the first week in November as part of a two week trip to Italy. Other than us, all other units on the property were empty so we had the place to ourselves. The photos and descriptions do not compare to the reality of the location. It was stunningly beautiful and we could see miles and miles of the gorgeous countryside. We arrived just before dark and were greeted by Max the "house" cat, a bottle of wine and a welcome note from Jackie the property manager. Jackie was just a phone call away and was very helpful in assisting with dinner arrangements and answering all questions that we had.

The location itself was beautifully landscaped but still retained a natural feeling. There is a small kitchen garden with herbs and vegetables for tenants to use. Something that came in handy after one long day out and about when we could not locate a restaurant! (Our fault as we did not make note the of the local restaurants.) There was also an almond and pomegranate tree which were a nice surprise.

Geographically speaking, we think this was the most perfect location. We were 20 minutes from Siena, and an hour from Florence, which made day trips easy. The immediate countryside offered beautiful drives, and wineries. The walled town of Castellina was so charming. We enjoyed dinner at Rosticceria Il Re Gallo. Most delicious and very reasonable.

The barn was very comfortable and spotless! It was everything we hoped it would be. The bathrooms were modern and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped for any cooking we needed to do. Though we never did figure out the espresso machine!!! The kitchen was put to it's best use the evening that Serena cooked a most wonderful dinner for us! If you are able to do so, engage her services. She is not only a wonderful cook but was great fun to have around that evening.

The weather for the entire week was perfect, which allowed us to enjoy breakfast on the side patio every morning and wine on the back patio in the evening, where we would watch the sun set.

If we regretted one thing it was that we stayed there the first week of our vacation rather than the second. It would have been the perfect relaxing way to end our vacation. We will be certain to return to the barn for another perfect vacation!

Wonderful combination of rolling hills with scattered old tuscan style farm houses. Everywhere are rows of vines sometimes interspersed with olive tree groves and in spring with bright yellow sun flowers waving in the sunshine.

Less than 30 minutes from the house one can be in the centre of the beautiful old city of Siena. Here it is possible to explore or just unwind and dine.
