About the property

5 bedroom luxury villa with magnificent views of the azure Ionian Sea

Villa Daphni was built in 2008 following the traditional style of a previously existing house. Positioned on the side of the valley of Pylaros this detached luxurious villa provides magnificent panoramic views both down to the azure Ionian waters of the Bay of Sami and around to the valley and the mountains. With a lovely 10x5 m pool in a beautiful pebble-paved terrace, a nice pergola and an elevated garden for a relaxing seating outside and fully air-conditioned, tastefully furnished interior with brand new upper-market furniture and electrical appliances for comfortable seating inside. Free Wi-Fi internet. Satellite TV. Home cinema. Villa Daphni is fantastic for large families or those travelling with friends. In walking distance from the quiet, picturesque village of Makryotika with traditional bakery, mini market, cafes, taverna. Largest nearby town is Sami, in 15 min drive distance with port, bank, shops, medical centre, international press, post-office car-rental.

Kefalonia is the largest island in the Ionian Sea. Its impressive caves, green slopes, azure waters and golden beaches offer the visitor infinite opportunities to relax and bask in beautiful surroundings. Island's mountain Ainos covered with Abies cephalonica trees, is declared a natural park. Kefalonia is also well known for its endangered loggerhead turtle population which nest at Kaminia beach.

Pylaros is one of the most unspoiled areas of the island located very close to the mythical island of Ithaka. The small harbor of the Agia Efimia, a preferred spot of the sailing boats in Ionian Sea, becomes crowded during summer months. Villa Dafni represents one of the best examples of the recently constructed villas in the area, which becomes a preferred destination for those seeking a quiet, untouched corner in the Ioanian Sea.

About Fotini Vallianatou

Me and my husband Miltiadis were both born in Ionian islands (Kefalonia and Corfu respectively). Although the last 20 years we live and work in Crete and we have traveled in many places all over the world, we love the Ionian landscape. All these years we spend our summer holidays together with our two sons in Kefalonia, with unbelievable consistency!!

Fotini Vallianatou purchased this villa in 2009

Why Fotini Vallianatou chose Kefalonia (Cephalonia)

There is no year until today that we managed to resist our impulsion to spend some days in Pylaros during the summer. When we decided to built a holiday villa here, we were hoping that the result would make all visitors to leave with the same feeling that we leave Kefalonia every year: sure that we will come back next year!

What makes this villa unique

We built Villa Daphni having in mind all the amenities we would like to enjoy during our summer vacation: privacy, all comforts inside, spectacular views and spacious surroundings outside. We chose a spot that lies within the heart of an unspoiled area, yet it is near to some magnificent beaches. We look forward to our visitors' satisfaction as a confirmation of our success.

Superlative! Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had high hopes for this villa and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It feels remote and secluded, with every window opening onto beautiful views and no houses in close proximity, but it's a walk to the best taverna we ever found on the island and a quick hop in the car to Myrtos and to the cozy harbor of Ag. Efimia with its sweep of tavernas facing its marina.

Dining under the grape vines, lazing by the pool, we all kept saying "this is the life". If you're even thinking about it, book it! Plus ramped access to the ground floor with its master bedroom makes this an option for wheelchairs -- although the ramps are steep at points. Whoever is pushing will get great legs.

Villa Daphne is a most beautiful villa in the loveliest area of Kefalonia. You feel like you are staying in the most exquisite boutique hotel all to yourself...it is perfectly located with wonderful views and yet near the stunning Myrtos beach - we also loved the fishing villages of Assos and Fiscardo. Another great outing is hiring a boat from Agia Efimia (only 5 minutes away) and swimming in deserted coves.

I loved the feel of the villa - elegant yet minimal and informal - and it is very well appointed (Miele dishwasher etc)...plenty of storage in the bedrooms and each one had amazing views...also the beds are incredibly comfortable. Great having wifi and a computer - we never got round to using the home cinema.

We were so well looked after - George gave us a very warm welcome and farewell and nothing was too much trouble. Also enjoyed the regular maid service and clean soft white towels every couple of days.

We hope to return soon.

Beautiful villa in Kekalonia

  • 5 of 5

Villa Daphni is a lovely, very well appointed, beautifully decorated, clean and very well-maintained villa. It is perfectly situated (hardly ten minutes' drive from stunning Myrtos beach where we drove practically every day...).

It is one of the best villas we have rented in Greece, probably because it is equipped according to much higher standards than most vacation villas. Fotini, the owner, and George who takes care of the villa are very helpful and everything is done to make guests feel welcome and at home.

We would definitely recommend this villa.

Villa Daphni

  • 5 of 5

This villa was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations even though we had seen all the photos on the website. It was very clean, well cared for and well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings (even Wifi and an Apple Mac and home cinema in the basement!). The villa has been rebuilt sympathetically in line with the original house and local architecture and has a unique position in the valley with a view to the sea down towards Agia Efimia.

The owner Fotini is very helpful responding promptly to emails and we met George on our arrival who looks after the property and was very welcoming.

We enjoyed visiting the local area and went on several occasions to Assos only a short drive away and had very good meals in the tavernas there and enjoyed the fresh fish. The road next to the villa is quiet and we sat outside on the terrace every evening admiring the view with a glass of wine and a BBQ (meat from the butcher in Agia Efimia) while the children were asleep.

We would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family - it's the best place we've ever stayed at in Greece and we are already planning our return trip. It was perfect for us (2 families with 4 young children) - lots of space, amazing scenery, good location, quite private nestled on side of hill but easy to get to local amenities (although we didn't walk as nearest shop/taverna a bit too far for the little ones).

The only small criticism I have is that we did have some difficulty finding the villa when we first arrived as the directions on the website (from Google maps) are poor although the villa is actually very easy to find if you are directed to the right place!

Thank you for a fantastic holiday!

Spoilt rotten

Villa Daphni is by far and away the best holiday house I've ever stayed in - it may be the nicest house I've visited in any context at all! Amazing modern comforts and high standards - the house has been decorated beautifully and all the fittings, from air con and dishwasher to the cheese grater and can opener, are of a really high quality. Each bedroom had its own special charm.

It was a delight to have a secluded outdoor pool with views across the valley and down to the sea. Watching and listening to the dawn from there - as the world woke up one sound at a time (goat bells - cockrel - cicadas - birdsong - barking - delivery vans) was something I'll remember for a long time.

I didn't quite make it round the whole island in a week(!) , but from my experience Agia Ephimia is one of the nicest towns on Kefalonia.

I can't recommend this holiday enough.

Villa Daphni 08.08.10 - 15.08.10

  • 5 of 5

Having driven through Europe for a week we were absolutely exhausted when we got to the villa but perked up immediately we got inside.

It is extremely spacious both inside and out and has everything you could possibly need; the kitchen is particularly well equipped with more crockery and pots and pans than I've got in my own house. There is a TV in every room and two eating areas - one inside and one out. The views from the villa were beautiful and the location is extremely peaceful but only a short drive to the nearest resort.

The owner / George was lovely and couldn't have done more for us. With a great sense of humour, which he needed with our party, nothing was too much trouble. Any problem, not that there were any major ones, was sorted immediately - he even made a special trip up to the villa when there was a major power cut in the area to let us know exactly what was happening and when we could expect the electricity to be back on. He also arranged for an English ex-pat living in the area to come and tell us about the locality, where we could get anything we needed and what there was to see.

In addition, Georges's staff who came in to clean were very nice. In fact, anybody associated with ensuring we had a good holiday was extremely nice and did a superb job.

The villa is immaculately clean on arrival and was cleaned another twice during the week we were there. The swimming pool is also cleaned twice a week.

I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to a friend or relative. Indeed, I and my friend intend to book another two weeks in 2011 and hope to take some more friends and relatives with us.

There is plenty to see and do on Kefalonia and with a car you wiould see lots of beautiful and interesting places.

Thanks to George and the crew for a wonderful stay. We look forward to seeing you in 2011.

Peaceful location, with privacy. Yet, in walking distance from the village of Makryotika. 10 minutes drive from the superb Beach of Myrtos. Similar distance from Agia Efimia, with yacht harbor, restaurants, cafes, pharmacy. Local walk trails can guide you to the nearby beaches through the Valley of Pyllaros within 60-90 minutes of walk, or uphill to the Monastery of Themata. Diving is offered in Agia Efimia, while cave enthusiasts can visit the Caves of Melissani and Drogarati in Sami. 15 min. drive from the port of Sami. 45 min drive from the airport of Kefalonia.

Pylaros, where villa Daphni is located, is one of Kefalonia's most unspoiled areas and is located very close to the mythical island of Ithaka which can be reached with a small boat starting form the small harbor of the Agia Efimia, a preferred spot of the sailing boats in Ionian Sea.
