Overview

About the property

Cedar Sided Cabin with Huge Prow and Deck. Private and Convenient

Our three bedroom, two bath home is located in Cannon Springs North. After going through the drive gate off of wells road, you will go down the STEEP slope to your unique and far from the road valley getaway. We loved the location and the view from the deck so much that we built an outdoor shower that has hot and cold water. (What a pleasure bathing outside with nature).

From the upper deck and lower patio areas you can relax and look over the lake. Deer, hawks, many birds and our evening bats are a joy to watch. A short stroll down the paved walkway takes you to your private dock. Keep your boat here or just go down and enjoy the great fishing right out your backyard.

The home has three bedrooms, two bedrooms and one bath on the main level of the home. The green room has a king size bed and the peach room has a queen size bed.

From the Living Room you go upstairs and there is a full size futon in the loft. Off the loft is the master bedroom which also has a king size bed and a small private bathroom with a stall shower, toilet and sink.

If you are ready to cook the kitchen has all the plates, utensils, pots, pans and cookie sheets that you'll need. The kitchen is small and compact. Just enough room for the head cook to whip up a meal in no time so that you can get back to enjoying the beautiful outdoor areas.

Lucky Lake House has free internet so bring your laptop and sit out on the deck or on the patio and enjoy surfing your favorite sites. Cell phone service could be limited because the home is down in the valley closer to the lake. But that might be a GREAT thing!

The home has Direct TV and there is even a music server on the wall going upstairs. Just tap the screen and drill down to your favorite song.

At the end of a fun filled day, grab a towel and head down to that outdoor shower.

About Mark or Pamela Schneider

Having a Birthday Party at Lucky Lake House!

We live about 85 miles away and have always loved the water, golfing and taking hikes or drives across the country side. No better place to do this then the Barkley Lake Area.

Mark or Pamela Schneider purchased this house in 2002

Why Mark or Pamela Schneider chose Eddyville

We bought our Lucky Lake House in 2002. Our goal was to find a place that was on the lake, had a dock, had privacy and wasn't so large that it would take a day to clean. When we saw the for sale sign at the top of the hill but could not see the house a good feeling came into our heart. The realtor said some where afraid of the steep drive and we thought 'there are tons of steep drives around here' but none that has such a great place at the bottom of the hill.

What makes this house unique

Away From Any Roads, Down in Valley With Other homes way up above us. outdoor shower, great fishing from dock, Huge Outdoor Deck and Under Deck Areas, swinging chairs.

Nice Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The property description is accurate including the STEEP sloping driveway. If your not in an SUV or truck, angling the vehicle as much as possible at the bottom may prevent you from bottoming out and scraping at the transition. Younger folks should not mind the stairs you must climb to get your gear to the main living level. There is just one TV in the cabin but it is a newer big flat screen with smart apps. They have a nice TV package too. The wifi was reliable. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The cabin sits on Lake Barkley but the lake was drawn down to winter pool so the dock did not have much water under it. Check out the water levels if you are planning to bring a boat, you may want to trailer it at the top of the driveway. We bought a small bag of firewood at Walmart for the fireplace fire we had one evening. We searched a little for outdoor/dock light switches but the owner said they would be identifying them better. Other than the little nits, our party of 6 enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The bedding and pillows were very comfortable. With temps in the lower 40s we chose not to try the outdoor shower although I would have given it a go in the summer. There are lots of things to do, see and places to eat within 30 minutes of the cabin. We used the free gun range at the LBL park, visited flea markets and saw the flood wall murals in Paducah, picked up some bacon and country ham at Broadbent's in Kuttawa, had great pizza at Pagliai's in Princeton. There are still many historical Confederate memorials to see and visit in this area of Kentucky. We had a short stay and did a little planning ahead of time. Thanks Pam for sharing your property!

Lovely cabin on a picturesque lake

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfect for a quiet getaway. The house has everything you need for comfort and entertainment. We were very fortunate to have perfect fall weather and enjoyed many of the hiking trails in the area, wildlife refuge, 1850's homestead, fishing on the lake and a bonus a local Ham Festival in the town of Cadiz. A truly lovely holiday.

Amazing cabin on the lake

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a great time at the lucky lake house. It's the perfect getaway, and a nice secluded, quiet spot right on the lake. The cabin was exceptionally clean and had everything you could need to be comfortable.

The driveway is steep but not anything to complain or worry about unless maybe going during an ice storm. We would definitely go to this cabin again and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this area. Thanks Pamela for the fantastic weekend.

Wonderfully relaxing and secluded

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 3 loved our stay. We were in the area for the eclipse. The location was centrally located for day trips to Hopkinsville, Cadiz, food shopping and a marina which was just up the road.

The deck was perfect for morning coffee, bird watching and sunsets through the trees. Bald eagles, summer tanagers, vireos, phoebes and your usual birds were typical visitors to the property.

3 bedrooms, plus a futon offered plenty of sleeping options.

Only problem I had with interior was lack of good light source over dinner table. We enjoy board games in the evening and lighting was too dim. Probably not a big deal for most.

Yes, driveway is steep, but we actually had fun with it. Just take your time.

All in all, we loved it and wouldn't hesitate to book this house again!

Thanks!!!!

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you enjoyed yourself and am thinking perhaps I can upgrade the track lighting that is sort of above the kitchen table and aim it down since the ceiling is cathedral that might be a good solution. I'm glad you saw the Bald Eagle. You are obviously a bird expert as we see neat birds all the time I just did not know the name. Thanks for sharing that information.

Peaceful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at the Lucky Lake House. I traveled with my husband and dog. This house offers such peaceful surroundings and we saw a lot of deer walk through the back yard. We brought our boat and it was so nice and convenient to park at the dock and walk up to the house. They have stocked the kitchen with just about anything you may need. We stayed in and grilled dinner most nights and never wanted for anything. The owners were very nice and easy to work with. They checked on us and made us feel very welcome in their home. Thank you for sharing your Lake home with us.--The Floyd's

Location

When one thinks of Lake Barkley the cities of Eddyville, Cadiz and Grand Rivers come to mind. Eddyville has Eddy Bay where the local marina sponsers the huge fireworks show each year, Thunder over Eddy Bay. There is a nice Water Park in Eddyville and if you are a Golfer, Mineral Mounds State Park is right outside of town. Several local restaurants offer great food and if you are a history buff you can visit the Museum at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. Need a boat, Prizer Point Marina can rent you one for a day or for a week. If you have a boat Lucky Lake House is about 1 mile away from the ever popular Dryden Creek Boat Ramp.

A short drive away is Cadiz, Kentucky. Lots of Antique shops to visit in their quaint downtown. Go the other way towards Grand Rivers and you can visit the famous Patti's Restaurant and catch a live bluegrass show.

If you are into hiking, riding ATV's, shooting guns or just taking a scenic drive you can continue on to Land-Between-The-Lakes. There are many other golf courses in the area and a variety of restaurant choices as well.
