Very comfortable stay in great location
The Cart Shed us a great place for a couple. Every comfort (except no WiFi) and with a quiet patio on which to enjoy breakfast or dinner. Location is wonderful, away from roads on the farm with wonderful views all around. Easy walk across the fields to the pub in Duncton a real bonus
I am so very glad that my guests discovered our beautiful location and enjoyed their stay at the Cart Shed. It is in a stunning place, which gives privacy and access to many venues, including our very hospitable local pub. Although we do not have a WiFi connection, we have two mobile phone masts on our property, that give you excellent access to the internet. Our information files also give you a vast choice of other local places to visit and other beautiful places to walk in our area. In fact there is never enough time to fit them all in, so hence the revisits that our guests make to us.
Lovely bungalow on working farm
A well equipped, comfortable bungalow surrounded by open countryside. We found it ideal for walks 'from the door' and for trips further afield. The garden is secure allowing our dog to roam free.
A rural getaway set in a beautiful landscape, the Cart Shed provides very comfortable accommodation!
We were delighted with the location of the Old Cart Shed: close to Petworth and even closer to the beautiful South Downs, with walks for all abilities right from our own front door.
The peaceful setting did much to put us in the right frame of mind for reflecting on the year gone by and thinking about the new year ahead. New Year's Eve found us celebrating together with a wee dram, fireworks in the distance (possibly from the excellent Cricketers pub in nearby Duncton) and a night sky of such brilliance as one never sees in more urban areas.
The cottage provided us with everything we could possibly need for a warm and comfortable stay and Pam's attention to detail in providing all necessary home comforts and detailed guidance on the local area was exemplary, from her warm welcome, comprehensive introduction to the cottage and assurances of support should we have needed any.
I missed having access to wifi at first but in fact this turned out to be a bonus as I was able to leave all thought of work behind. Mobile service was excellent!
We shall certainly aim to return to this lovely cottage in this area of outstanding beauty!
How very kind of my guests to spend time and effort writing such a comprehensive account of their stay at the Cart Shed. It is very rewarding for me to hear such a detailed and positive account, thank you to my guests for the time and care they took. With each new set of guests, one hopes that you have second guessed what their priorities might be and it is very gratifying to hear that most items are there after eleven years of accommodating guests at Ridlington Farm.
Our local downland beauty, as well as a variety of attractions is also a major draw, offering peace and tranquility in tucked away corners, as well as major concert and festival events. Chichester Festival Theatre is only thirteen miles away and is a very popular venue, as well as the Goodwood events. In contrast there are endless footpaths in breathtaking countryside for two weeks holiday. My thanks to these guests for leaving the property as they found it.
A wonderful get away from it all. Just peace and tranquility in excellent accommodation. Thoroughly recommended.
It was a pleasure to have guests who used every moment here to the best advantage, exploring local venues and using our local information files to make the most of their week’s break. Discovering beautiful local beauty spots and walking their dog through a variety of landscapes. Yet enjoying the sunny evenings relaxing on the new patio furniture, as the sun set over the Downs. They would be most welcome to come again, the Cart Shed was left as they found it. Thank you.
All you wish in a holiday home in great landscape!
It was lovely to be able to show our continental guests Britain at its best, with stunning weather enhancing the beautiful countryside, whilst the excellent ground conditions enabled them to walk miles through stunning downland scenery. Apart from the extreme heat, they were able to benefit from our new garden furniture, relaxing comfortably and resting on their return. Thank you too for your appreciation and careful use of our accommodation,
Excellent holiday accommodation on tidy and well run farm
This was a perfect location as a base for getting to know West Sussex. Pam made us very welcome and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The accommodation was ideal for the two of us and our Labrador.
The weather was too hot for walking any distance but visits to Petworth, Midhurst, Weald and Downland Museum, Bosham, Arundel, Uppark and West Beach at Littlehampton are musts with the highlight being Arundel Castle.
The Cricketer pub is a 15 minute walk across the farm so there's no need to drive. The views from the Cart Shed face south towards the edge of the South Downs only a couple of miles away. Although the Cart Shed is on the edge of a farmyard the location is peaceful with only the sound of the skylarks to enjoy.
Many thanks for an excellent week.
Peter and Gillian
It was lovely to hear from my guests that their week at the Cart Shed in the heatwave was such a success. They certainly visited some excellent venues in our area, which best suited them in the heat. This leaves many other excellent places to visit for a second time in the future and the view of the Downs is second to none from our property. The peaceful surroundings here add to the enjoyment of anybody's holiday as we are well away from main roads and congestion.
With very many thanks to our guests for their review, so much more valuable than anything I can say,
5 minutes south of Petworth, the property is in an area of outstanding natural beauty with Midhurst 7 miles to the west. Chichester's cathedral city with its Festival theatre, market, shopping and leisure centre is 20 minutes away. Goodwood racecourse and motor racing circuit is 15 minutes away, with Cowdray polo at Midhurst. Nearby Petworth House, Uppark, Goodwood House and Arundel Castle are open to be visited from April -October. The Weald and Downland Museum, Fisher's Farm, Chichester Harbour and Portsmouth, with its naval attractions of the Victory, the Mary Rose and HMS Alliance, are great days out. There are numerous beaches to explore within 25 minutes and endless miles of footpaths, nature trails and areas of special scientific interest. The Isle of Wight provides an excellent and feasible day out using Portsmouth's ferry. Brighton's Royal Pavilion, pier and shopping centre are 50 minutes away. Local pub 1 mile, good restaurants within 2-10 miles, we hold many local brochures.
Other Activities: Cowdray polo, Goodwood motor and horse racing, Fontwell racing, pay and play golf.
