Set on a working farm in the Rother valley within the South Downs National Park, the Cart Shed has uninterrupted views of the Downs, so it is the ideal place to get away from it all, stepping straight into perfect walking, cycling or riding countryside. Farm centrally sited at the end of a long scenic drive, it is the most southerly farm building, enjoying its own separate well fenced garden, with patio and furniture to enjoy the views in complete privacy. The VisitBritain 4 star rated house includes a lounge/dining room containing the sofabed and an extra settee, plus double doors onto the South patio; a well fitted kitchen, with a breakfast area, is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer; a kingsize double bedroom is furnished with tasteful antique pine furniture; a fresh white bathroom contains a bath with shower, a toilet, tumble dryer and airing cupboard. The glass panelled entrance has a large coat and clothes cupboard with a handy boot rack for walkers.
Another lovely stay at the Cart Shed. Thank you so much - everything was perfect. Don't want to leave.
My wife and I stayed for three nights over Christmas but would love to have booked for longer. An absolute gem of a place in a wonderful location. The cart shed is spacious, very well equipped, spotlessly clean throughout and has the most wonderful views to wake up to. Pamela was charming, friendly and very helpful and made us both feel extremely welcome. Highly recommended. We'll definitely look forward to staying there again (for longer) in the future.
Thank you very much Keith and Pam for a lovely holiday. The cottage had everything you wanted, especially the power shower. The scenery is fantastic even Susan the horse came for a few visits,Tony, Jen and Bonnie the Westie.
A truly beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. We had a really brilliant relaxing holiday and will hopefully book to return.
The cottage was extremely well equipped to a very high standard and we would highly recommend it.
... and this farm is Immaculate, even the public footpath to the Cricketers Pub (12 mins) was carefully mown. This is an area new to us and we were astounded by its beauty, range of places to go. Much appreciated the info folders with 4 OS Maps, marked walks and every uptodate leaflet carefully cataloged. We loved the walk from the door around Burton Park and Mill especially with lunch in Cricketers garden at the end. Our nervous dog soon settled and loved the securely fenced garden and friendly horses, but was oblivious to the beautiful views and huge skies. Petworth House is a must, but too much art for just one visit. Petworth Park is superb (free even to non-NT) and you can let your dog off lead (avoiding Deer areas). West Wittering beach for dogs too. Enjoyed walk around Chichester harbour and nearby shipyard. Chichester & Cathedral was lovely on a late Sunday afternoon. The nearby farm shop was useful. We would love to come here again as there is so much still to do.
My husband and I and our 4 yr old Lab,George, had a lovely four night break in the comfortable, well equipped Cart Shed. George loved the back garden, where he could watch the horses and be made a fuss of by the stable hand! We had relaxing evenings sitting outside watching the sun setting and long walks in the beautiful area during the day. West Wittering beach has areas where dogs are allowed,as does neighbouring East Head and we had a brilliant sun drenched day there, where George had a good swim!
Lavington Common and Plantation is a great area for dog walking, with beautiful ancient trees and flowering shrubs. It can be reached by footpath from the door,or driven to, with a good parking area.
We can also recommend the food and hospitality at the local pub, the Cricketers, where George also enjoyed lots of attention!
Thank you Pamela for making our mini break relaxing and stress free (not always easy with a dog in tow!), we will be recommending the Cart Shed to our dog owning friends and relatives.
The "Shed" was immaculate as was the farm it was situated on. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay as did our little dog in the secure garden. Lots to see and do in the area especially for walkers. Highly recommended.
