Why Moya chose Anglesey

Traditional, quaint, charming, bijou....simply special. Not the lap of luxury...even better.... it has a knack of cradling you in its bosom and making you feel gooey.

What makes this cottage unique

Tucked away in a quaint corner of one of the friendliest Welsh villages which really does cater for everything you desire when getting away from it all, by the seaside l

A must!

  • 5 of 5

Guess it's all been said but this cosy, characterful cottage was such a delight. 'Charming' is a much used cliche to describe cottages but charming and magical it truly is, combining a strong sense of bygone times with all the comforts of modern living. All amenities very close by, good food, beautiful bay and stunning views as you walk along the headland. We will be staying again (and again!) Highly recommended!

Great Seaside Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic week we had at Ilys Cottage. We couldn't believe how accurate the other reviews were, as this pretty cottage is in a fantastic location. Set in a quiet cul-de-sac, but literally a few steps from the pub and shops.

The cottage is very cosy, and has everything you need for a great self catering holiday.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Ilys Cottage to family & friends, and look forward to returning very soon.

IDYLLIC SEASIDE COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5

Idyllic seaside cottage ideally situated both to explore Anglesey and also for amazing costal walks. The description of 'chocolate box' cottage is very apt for this delightful cottage which we found to be not only very relaxing but quite magical, definitely somewhere we can see ourselves returning to again and again

CHARMING CHARACTER COTTAGE - QUAINT & COSY

  • 5 of 5

Loved the charm of this cottage. Tucked away in the village and yet right next to local pubs and shops on the high street. Short walk to the beach - kids loved it. Great base for seeing the rest of Anglesey on the couple of day trips that we took, but over the week we just spent our time pottering in the locality and enjoying being away from the hustle and bustle. The local people are so friendly and welcoming, made us feel like family. The Cottage itself is charming - so full of character - and of love --- shown by the heart shaped hanging ornaments that I assume visitors have added to over the years. We didn't feel the need to use the storage heaters and so the electric bills were low ( i note others have commented on the price of the electric) - we found the fire was sufficient in an evening -( and adds to the authenticity of staying in a cottage in a village in anglesey), supplemented by the cosy duvets and beds - don't think we have ever slept so well...then with fabulous fresh bacon and sausages from the local butcher (just along the high street) -- what more could you ask for .. Thank you so much to the owners for a fabulous holiday and retreat -we hope to come back next year :-)

A place to wash away your worries

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with the cottage and Cemaes Bay in 2008 and have revisited every year since. In spring, summer, autumn and winter.I walk up to Llanbadrig, sit on the bench and just meditate. The Dalai Lama was apparently quite taken with the place too and during a visit, described it as the 'most peaceful place on earth. I totally agree with him.

The cottage has had a revamp inc the bathroom, which I have to say looks and feels a lot better; however, I notice the pictures have not been updated on the site reflecting the improvements. The cooker has been replaced with a new one, and there is all the utensils you require.

There isn't a washing machine but I have always managed, there is a clothes maiden and if you’re really desperate there are Launderettes in Holyhead which is about 15/20 minutes in the car.

Yes, the cottage is basic but cosy, quaint and clean (you get what you pay for) with a tiny sea view from the upstairs windows, where I enjoy sitting with a cup of tea early in the morning and just being. In the evening’s I love lighting the fire, having a glass of wine, cooking a lovely meal, settling down with a book, watching a film or just chatting round the fire if there is a few of us. It is also great for a lovely romantic getaway too!

The beach is just a minute away, literally. Great for swimming, fishing, kayaking or just relaxing. We have often had BBQ's on the beach in the evening…………honestly it’s a magical place. Beautiful country side and sea views combined.

If you love to have a pint I would recommend the Stag, good pub grub too. Always someone to chat too and laugh with. A really friendly and welcoming village, with all amenities on your door step.

There is also a beautiful coastal walk from Bull bay to Cemaes where you can observe the wild life. I have seen bottle nosed dolphins who travel through during spring, nosey and noisy seals and if you like bird watching (the feathered kind) you won’t be disappointed.

I have found the owners to be warm and friendly, and if I have had a query (which is rare) It has been dealt with promptly.

If you want to wash your worries away, relax and recharge your batteries then Cemaes is the place.

If you want a cosy, quaint cottage where you feel at home, comfortable to kick off your shoes, walk in sand and where your kids can be kids. Or, if you just want a romantic week-end away with lovely walks, curl up by the fire with a glass of wine, then Ilys cottage is the place.
