A Hidden Gem

  • 4 of 5

The first ten minutes of the guided tour of the property by the very helpful Elle, were punctuated by oooh's and aaaah's from the family. the location and general standard of the property was very good, topped off by the original artwork in every room. Needless to say the family thought the Gite perfect, the land pool and faculties were in top order, and were well used throughout the week. The Gite has a very well appointed kitchen, which as the appointed chef for the week I very much appreciated. The location is perfect with trees shielding the late afternoon sun to keep the temperatures comfortable in the main living rooms. The local villages have everything to make even the most ardent bon vivuer happy, but it's the Dordogne 'nuff said.

Just as good second time round

  • 5 of 5

Visited la jaspellerie for the second time. House was just as good as we remembered and felt like a home from home. Weather was incredible so we made the most of the pool. Didn't make the most of the local restaurants and nobody wanted to go out. A perfect and very relaxing week!

We had a great stay in this fantastic house in August

  • 5 of 5

The house is well located on a quiet road a few minutes drive from Payrac. The house is spacious, cool on the ground floor, with AC on the 1st floor when it got hot. The main veranda has a great view over a small valley. The pool was excellent, a good temperature and the children spent hours in the pool each day. There was a good internet connection and the advantage of UK satellite TV (for English guests!)

There are lots of good restaurants and shops in Gourdon, and we also enjoyed shopping and eating in Souilliac. We spent half a day kayaking on the Dordogne which was great, visited Rocamadour and market day in Sarlat is also worth a trip.

Overall, a great relaxed stay and the house more than lived up to our expectations and the description on this site.

Great property with wonderful pool

  • 5 of 5

We spent a glorious two weeks at La Jaspellerie. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The immediate area is wonderfully rural and relaxed but with great places to eat and supermarkets and a very good wine shop in Gourdon. We visited the Lot and Dordogne valleys. We went canoeing, my daughter went horse riding three times and we did some sight seeing. But to be honest it was hard to drag ourselves away from the wonderful pool, particular in the glorious sunshine.

Just about perfect

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed in this delightful, secluded, well appointed house in a tiny, charming, village in a gorgeous part of France. Lots of lovely walks ( the locals always had time to stop and pass the time od day), and many fascinating places to visit, plus some seriously good restaurants. If feeling idle, the boulangerie and village shop in Le Vigan close by have all you need, there are lots of books in the sitting room, there is a timber veranda with stunning views and, of course, the pool which, for our stay, was the perfect temperature. Don't go if you want to spend your life clubbing but, if you want to relax without being bored, I can think of few better places.

Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

Two of us stayed here and thought are holiday was just perfect. The gite is a comfortable and well appointed holiday home situated in an area that affords easy access to good food and wine. What more could one want? For us it was exactly what we were after. More specifically the listing description and photos accurately described the property - it was exactly what we expected. The property was clean and is well maintained and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. I would definitely recommend this holiday home

LaJaspellerie is ideally situated with easy access to the beautiful Dordogne valley (Sarlat, Domme, Roque Gageac) as well as spectacular Rocamadour. The hill-top town of Gourdon is circa 10km away and has all amenities.

The surrounding countryside is rolling hills dotted with picturesque villages built in traditional stone. There are a large number of local restuarants ranging from Michelin rosetted (Chateau de la Treyne and Pont de l'Ouysee at Lacave) to rustic 'ferme auberges'.

If you tire of the pool, the area is particularly well suited to families with a host of attractions for children from the amazing Gouffre de Padirac with its underground river, to the Quercyland water-park at Souillac or canoeing on the Dordogne, horse-riding or cycling on the dedicated track from Souillac to Sarlat.

The Dordogne area is well appointed for tourists with an eclectic range of attractions for the whole family (a detailed list of recommendations is provided in LaJaspellerie).
