Son's wedding weekend

  • 3 of 5

Came to Todd for my son's wedding. Beautiful area and house had beautiful views. Accomodations were adequate, plenty of room for all 11 of us. House well stocked with most needed items, however needs more attention to cleanliness. Someone was there when we arrived at check-in time and appeared to be finishing cleaning however all bath rugs needed to be shaken out or vacuumed, there was still trash in a bath trash can and sheets in dryer. Also master bath had major cobwebs over mirror. Parking multiple vehicles is an issue. Mattresses were not comfortable and twin bedroom door would not close completely. Kitchen faucet handle broken and kept falling off. Addressing these minor issues would make it much more welcoming. Thanks.

We like old houses so this suited us fine. We had a good stay.

Enjoyed the stay!. It was great to be able to go up river and then just kayak down to the house and then get out---very nice.

First bedroom on the right as you get upstairs does not lock and the light switch does not work. There is no closet in that room either so the girl's clothes were on the floor---perhaps a dresser in this room.

The sleeper couch in the the 'TV room' downstairs really is shot and needs to go. It is not comfortable to sit on to watch TV.

Please do not take all of this too negatively, just some things to make it better for the next folks. We did break one of the large white plates so we owe you for that.

Thanks for sharing this place!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

Roomy and comfortable--enjoyed the high ceilings, the location, the front porch, the kitchen. All the charm of an old farm house with modern updates.

One note: there are not good mattresses on the pull out sofas, so it's a good idea to plan accordingly (but definitely spacious separate sleeping areas).

Not happy with the rental.

  • 1 of 5

Pictures look much better then in real life. Found the place to be quite dirty, furniture needs up dating. when sitting on the couch in the living room, you fall all the way to the floor. The beds were very uncomfortable. I do not know what you are paying your cleaning crew, but what ever it is, you are paying to much. The pots and pans were covered in grease. We had to wash every dish before we used them. We tried to make mash potatoes for dinner, but the blender did not work. The kids wanted to go tubing, however most of the floats in the shed were busted. The only security on the back upstairs door was a chain lock. I do not believe it could hold anyone back from breaking in to the house. Did not feel secure at all! Over all, the house was very disappointing and not worth the money.

Interesting property. Shrubbery and grounds could use some attention. Website pictures are older from current state. Address listed was not correct We finally found it after going past a couple of times. Overall enjoyable stay.

Beautiful place to stay, very tranquil!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the McGuire house, loved the historic nature of the home and area as well as the proximity to the New River which is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful views! My only complaint and it has nothing to do with the home was with regard to allergy sufferers, which unfortunately we happen to be. I did have to launder all bed linens and towels as one of my children has a severe allergy (hives, swelling etc) to fragranced detergents and for the rest of us bothers our eyes, sinuses and causes mild itching. Otherwise, our stay was perfect!
