About Andy George

I live on the outskirts of London with my wife and dog and have been lucky enough to travel up and down to Poole since i was a young lad with my family, and now with my own family.

Why Andy George chose Purbeck

The location of this property cannot get much better if you want sea views and to have the option to just leave your car in the drive and walk around Poole and the local area.

We've been slowly upgrading the property over the past few years, and its really becoming what we've envisaged now. Those regulars who come back year on year have been making very positive comments. The bathroom was refurbished in 2014, and in May 2015 all carpets replaced, bedroom, lounge and dining room furniture replaced. An internal redecoration was also undertaken.

The Kitchen and dining room was all replaced in April 2016 with an external decoration undertaken also.

Superb!

Fantastic location & accommodation. Owner Andy very helpful with recommendations of places to go, things to do and dog friendly beaches. Branksome Dene Beach is brilliant for people with mobility problems.. car park almost on the beach, fairly reasonable to park up price wise, very flat promenade, with benches if you cant venture onto the sand, food available too..and a dog friendly section! Look out for the tuneful ice cream boat! Our daughter thought it was fab! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Would stay again & recommend to friends & family.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and kind words. Very useful information on the beaches for guests with some limited mobility. I'll research this more and add a section on information sheet! I hope to welcome you back again in the future. Best regards Andy

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week at this lovely cottage. It was done out in a beachy shabby chic interior. The cottage was immacluate with a surprise welcome pack.Location was fabulous, only a 5 min walk to the quay, with all its bars and restaurants.Recommend Harlees for the best fish and chips.Tesco express on the quay and Sainsburys a ten min walk.As for outings we made use of the tourist open air bus which was great value combining bus and boat trips. We highly recommend this cottage and the owner Andy has been great throughout.

Great location, clean and comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful break in Poole helped by perfect weather. The cottage had everything we needed and was very dog friendly having a lovely garden and situated a few strides from the sea and a large park. Enjoyed watching the boats and visiting Sandbanks. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Andy for sharing your holiday home.

Great holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have just left this lovely beachside cottage. We had a great stay. We were right on a beach and walking distance to poole quay so we could pick up shopping and leave the car which was great. We were close to sandbanks and many beautiful things to do. The cottage was fab and Andy was genuinely helpful through out. I would highly recommend. Thanks Andy.

Charming and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

I took my young son to the cottage recently, and was joined by my parents a few days later.

The first surprise was just how close the water is, a literal stone's throw. This contributed to an immediate feeling of being 'by the sea' with the occasional sound of seagulls and wafts of sea air blowing through the house with the windows open. Fantastic. We also enjoyed watching the boats of all shapes and sizes sail past - pleasure craft, ferries, sailing ships from yesteryear and even a warship.

The house itself had everything we needed. A renovation must have been completed because the carpets were so soft, and everything felt clean and tidy whilst retaining a homely feel with the decor nothing like a ubiquitous hotel room in which so many places are sadly styled these days. We could not have asked for more and the proof is when coming back after a day out and feeling happy to come 'home'. Everything worked perfectly, the neighbours were pleasant and the kitchen was particularly well stocked with things we didn't expect.

A short walk from the cottage is the quay, complete with shops, restaurants and pubs. We used a huge nearby Asda for food shopping which is a 5-minute drive and very convenient with a pharmacy and other shops inside. My son loved catching crabs, with a great spot a few minutes walk away with a shop selling bait and other items.

One thing I'd recommend to anyone coming is to collect change to use in car parks at various attractions around the area, as they are all 'pay and display'. I also brought a USB full of children's programmes for when CBeebies closes at 7, and the DVD player accepted it - a godsend.

It was a wonderful experience and something we'll most certainly do again, thanks so much.

Great location and lovely house

  • 4 of 5

A view of the harbour from all rooms and just moments from the Old Town to boot. We enjoyed our stay immensely! Very comfortably furnished with decor reflecting a shabby beach chic vibe with all mod cons. Am sure we'll be back!

Poole is a vibrant, bustling town with stunning views from the Quayside across Poole Harbour, the worlds second largest natural harbour. You can take a stroll down the quayside where many activities can be booked to include Fishing, Diving, Sailing, Kitesurfing and Windsurfing amongst others. There are also numerous boat trips that can be taken in various directions, up to Wareham, across to Brownsea Island, or to the beautiful Sandbanks and Studland Bay beaches.

There are some fantastic walks to be had along the Dorset Jurassic Coast which is steeped in wildlife for all nature lovers. On that note the harbour is of International importance for wildlife conservation and borders 3 nature reserves, whilst also being home to the rare 'Red Squirrel'.

Poole is of great historical interest having been used by the Romans as an Invasion port to take over the South of England, and as a result there have been historical findings with the oldest being a logboat dating back to 295 BC
