Enjoy country life in a beautiful home on 4 acres on a quiet lane with views of horses, barns and rolling fields. The property has a sunny garden, majestic old trees, sweeping front porch and is just 2 hours from Manhattan. It's a quiet and lovely country setting, yet close to quaint villages, restaurants and entertainment.

This Arts & Crafts style home was built in 1912 and is a classic and comfortable country home. It has buttery wood floors, large leaded glass windows, original hardware and handsome fireplace and columns - but now has modern amenities like central air conditioning, brand new kitchen, WiFi and Internet TV loaded with Netflix films, HBOgo and more. Perfect for a romantic getaway or gathering of family and friends.

Our home is ideal for 4 people in terms of living space, bathrooms etc. There are 3 private bedrooms, two with queens and one full-sized futon. In addition the master has an adjoining room that was formerly a nursery with a full size futon and window, (3 1/2 bedrooms total, sleeps 4 adults and 1 child).

We love to watch the 'world go by' from our inviting front porch which overlooks rolling fields on a quiet country lane. You can BBQ or lounge in the landscaped garden with peonies and hydrangeas and majestic old trees. Walk down to the horse fencing at the edge of our property and visit our neighbor's horses - 15 magnificent Belgian's that show in local fairs and parades. Cycle over winding country roads and pass barns, country markets and animals including unexpected ones like Llama, Ostrich and Buffalo!

We are a mile North from the town of Red Hook border in bucolic Clermont, and a lovely bike ride to the Villages of Germantown and Tivoli.

--The quaint villages of TIVOLI and GERMANTOWN are 5 minutes away or a lovely 3-4 mile bike ride on scenic lanes.

--RED HOOK is small town America at it's best and is a 10 minute drive to farm markets, movies and all the services you might need.

--We are 20 minutes in either direction from RHINEBECK shops and restaurants or fabulous antiquing in HUDSON with over 50 shops in a few block radius.

--Swim in beautiful LAKE TAGHANIC 20 minutes away with 2 sandy beahes, picnicing, boat rental and more.

--Hike, mountain bike and rock scramble at magnificent MOHONK or MINNEWASKA 40 minutes south and visit charming New Paltz on the way out.

--INSIDERS TIP: Other local favorites of ours include the cool little town of Tivoli, killer Skizza's at GiGi's, $6.50 first run movies in Red Hook and Holy Cow ice cream with throwback prices, our very own Tousey winery tasting room in Clermont, the magnificent Performing Arts Center at Bard, swimming in the local pond, country breakfast at the Historic Diner in Red Hook, air shows at The Rhinebeck Aerodrome, world class dance at Kaatsbaan in Tivoli, gourmet Otto's Market in Germantown and pick your own everything at Greig Farm.

About Lyn

I am a native New Yorker who discovered the Hudson Valley years ago when I was looking for a quiet escape from the pressures of a career in advertising. Our family spent many summers and weekends here enjoying country life. Now that the kids are older it's a pleasure to share our home and all our favorite places with you!

Why Lyn chose Hudson Valley

This area is so close to the city, yet it's truly another world up here - small town America at it's best. First we fell in love with the tiny town of Tivoli, then realized what a gem it was to have Bard in our backyard. Our playground are the towns of Rhinebeck and Red Hook and we also spend a lot of time hiking and skiing the Catskills.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We fell in love with this home the moment we saw it - built by hand 100 years ago with oak trees from the property, this was a wedding gift from a man to his wife. It's a handsome house with a really warm and comforting vibe, majestic old trees and a classic country porch where we watch the 'world go by'.

Bright, Clean and Extremely Quiet Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

Four of us enjoyed a relaxing 4 night stay in Lyn's home in Germantown. Lyn was easy to contact and she responded immediately to all my questions and concerns before and during our stay.

The large windows, original wood floors and woodwork are outstanding. This house is well maintained and the photos are accurate. Everything we needed was supplied along with great views and a 'down home' feeling. I will definitely go back.... it is an easy short drive to Rhinebeck . Lyn is a wonderful host !

Everyone has their own definition of perfection, but for me Lyn's house does it. The exact location of the house is one of my favorite little areas in the HV. There were 3 of us, one elderly, one 4 years old, and everyone was thrilled. We spent a lot of time reading and painting pictures on the front porch, exploring the back yard, exploring the farm-y, horse-y country around the house, cooking and eating in the spacious dining room and kitchen, and reading together in the spacious living room. Lyn is extremely responsive and helpful and there really was not a problem with the entire stay, from start to finish. I'd stay again anytime, the sooner the better.

Great Sister's trip!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful sister's trip (all in our late 50's-early 60's) here- just the 3 of us. Each our own bedroom and lots of space. Clean, quiet, private, and everything you need. Great front and back porch sitting. There is a full kitchen and would have been easy to cook (lots of farmer's markets) but we mainly ate out- great local restaurants. Lyn was very attentive to answer questions. Quick response. We enjoyed the easy travel to Frederick Church property, Culinary Institute of America, and Hyde Park/FDR museum. Would definately stay here again.

Bucolic Beauty

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a week at this lovely country home for a reunion and work at the

Country Living Fair. The home is very spacious but the screened porch was our haven after a long day. The grill was appreciated for dinner prep and every amenity has been thought of.

Also, close to sights and great restaurants. Lyn has great book filled with local information for making the most of your stay.

Charming Escape!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at this home. Our 21 month old loved the yard and saying hello to the horses on the neighboring property each morning. The owner was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable.

A great launching pad for the Hudson Valley

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two school age daughters had a fabulous time both staying at the house and taking advantage of all that the area has to offer. We had breakfast in the dining room and dinners in the screened porch. We appreciated having ample tableware and flatware to get through at least two meals for a family of four before needing to run the dishwasher. The house is on a quiet country road. There is a playground in Germantown about 5-10 minutes away. Clermont is also nearby and has incredible Hudson River views in the picnic area and is free after 4 pm. We easily explored the Culinary Institute, FDR estate, Hudson, Omi Sculpture Gardens, Red Hook and Rhinebeck. The house is comfortable, clean, and has great air conditioning. Poets Walk is not to be missed and Lyn goes out of her way to leave advice about making the most of your stay.
