RUSTIC waterfront Bungalow private beach & dock, flat walkout & waterfall
I've owned this property for over 18 years and have rented it out during the spring/summer/fall months when I am traveling. It is comfortable and homey.
Vicky purchased this Bungalow in 2001
Why Vicky chose Burdett
This is so peaceful and next to the waterfall and ON SENECA LAKE with your own dock to sit on or tie your boat too. You have your own beachfront and its the best spot in the Finger Lakes !
What makes this Bungalow unique
The waterfall will make you want to stay ..... and come back over and over again. I have many families who return each summer.
Would prefer all smoking to be outside the house.

We loved it! My mom said she would like to come back next year. Very conveniently located to all the sites and shopping. tranquil yard and dock space. We didn't want to leave. Vicky was very accommodating.
Thank you so much ! You all are always welcome. Safe travels =-)
When we booked the accommodation, we were excited to have a location with a beautiful yard and lake access to enjoy with family. We did not expect to encounter the safety concerns and difficulties with the house. It is listed as rustic. The setting is rustic. The outdoor space was great for kids and dogs. The house was unsafe and filthy. We encountered mice feces in the couch, a leaking ceiling in the living area with mold and mildew, inadequate air conditioning, dirt and dirty clothes under the beds, dead bugs under furniture in the living area, dust and dust bunnies on book shelves and on the wooden beams, holes in walls, mold on the bathroom window, stains on the furniture, missing smoke detectors or not working, and outlets that did not work. In addition, open spaces ( large enough for a person to fit through)to attic crawl spaces leaving in hot air and who knows what else. It was necessary for our group to obtain an addition air conditioning unit just to sleep upstairs. Extension cords were used in the bedrooms and run along walls. The whole house had a very unpleasant odor. Our visit is documented in photos as we are sure these claims will be disputed.
Our family planned this vacation many months ago and incurred additional costs to lodging. Unfortunately , after attempting to find other accommodations, we were unsuccessful due to events being held in the area.Thank goodness we brought our own bedding and blankets to cover up the furniture. We spent all our time outdoors and only slept in the house.
Also, a lawn service came to cut grass. As we started to move our chairs and belongings, we were told that they do not service this section of the yard. The owner was contacted numerous times only to tell us she was sorry we were unhappy with the accommodations, that the house is clean, and that she has many repeat renters. That is not what the neighbors said. She did offer to get a cleaning service towards the end of the stay but would require us to stay on the premises further disrupting our vacation. The house needs a decent cleaning and general maintenance service. Unfortunately, this experience ruined our family vacation.
I always keep in touch with my guests, and spoke to them on the first day to make sure they were comfortable and to answer any questions. Their stay came during one of the hottest weeks of the summer, and I had put a new whole house AC/heat unit in this past April 2019. Outside was 85 and 90 degrees, and inside was 67 and 78 upstairs during the hottest part of the day. I think that is comfortable and acceptable. And they had the lake to go swim and play and cool off. Unfortunately these guests wanted the house to be cooled under 70 degrees all the time. Without asking me they got into the back shed and tried to install an old window AC unit from storage. This was not appropriate for them to do. However, I told him if it didn't work, I would pay for a new AC window unit so he and his wife could be comfortable during their stay - even though I feel the new system is adequate, and so does the certified electrician who installed it. I think these guests were being unrealistic about their need for a cooler temperature in the house during a heatwave. That was the first night. Subsequently after that they decided they didn't want to stay, they wanted to find another location, and they looked. But given this is the high season for rentals there was nothing available. I did offer to give them their money back if/when they relocated for the nights they don't stay. They decided to stay .One evening the husband called me up screaming at me about the furniture and the temp. Again I responded if they find another rental I will refund their money. Again the next day they decided to stay. I offered to send another cleaning lady in, but they refused. This is a summer rental home, not a hotel, and many people bring their own bedding and towels. I do provide what I have and they are clean. I have a cleaning lady that comes in after every rental stay. I advertise my home as an old rustic home with eclectic combination of old furniture and new upgrades, because that is what it is. New kitchen, updated bathroom, skylights, beach and dock area, and a place for your pet in the backyard. I always talk with my renters and accommodate them as much as possible. I spoke with my handyman and the cleaning lady to update them on the complaints and these have been addressed. And yes I have many people who return each year as they adore the location and love being close to nature. I am sorry these guests were not happy. I want all my guests to enjoy their stay.
You can't beat this location!
This is a wonderful, special location just next to the falls. The kitchen is full of every thing you will need to cook and serve. The owner Vicky promptly replies to text messages and is very helpful.
A couple of suggestions ... a fourth chair is needed at the inside dinner table. Also I suggest that you free up a cabinet for storing any food purchases.
Thank you, you are welcome back anytime.
No adequate Lighting in the kitchen No real front steps. Upstairs air conditioning not large enough
Could be better needs work and the same goes for your website hundred characters is not enough space to write an opinion
Access to the lake is superb
This property is located on Seneca Lake beneath Hector Falls. There is a beachfront with a dock, and it is located next to the waterfall.
