About Katia Paradis
We built our dream house property in 2008 and feel it is the best place to live in Belize!
Katia Paradis purchased this House in 2008
Why Katia Paradis chose Santa Elena
The property sets on the top of a breezy hill with a majestic view we never get tired of looking at. It offers the privacy and intimacy of a resort while not being too isolated and close to the groceries store and bustling village life. In fact, we were not the first one to find this location as a premium spot, while building the foundations of the house, we found 2 ancient Mayan foundations laying one on top of another. We believe it is a great property for those who go for the car rental option, preferably a SUV, either in San Ignacio or Belize City and explore the area at their own rhythm without being bound to any schedule. The road access to the house is a dirt path, often bumpy, that gets muddy on rainy season.
What makes this House unique
On days where everyone complains about heat and humidity and get to our place, they are always surprised by how much more comfortable and cooler it is up there. The locations is ideal : close to town with spectacular views but it feels like far away.

10 Stars Please?
I need more stars!!! Our stay was amazing!
Katia, you need to take more pictures or something, they don't do this house justice! After a long day of travel, you pull up to a rather unassuming house, but when the door opens and you get that breathtaking view and delightful breeze, you are IN LOVE. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 4 kids, all the amenities we needed and super clean.
Consuelo, there aren't enough words to thank you. She would hug and kiss our kids all day if she could! She taught them Spanish, had them help in the kitchen, and was the nicest person I've ever met. We had her cook at three dinners while we were there for an extremely reasonable price and they were not only delicious, but we sat out on the porch and soaked in the atmosphere. I put a load of laundry in before heading to Tikal for the day and Consuelo had put it on the line and folded it all up for me. I almost cried.
The pool is 10x better than it looked in the pics. A great shallow end, lots of room, heated just right. Hammocks everywhere.
There were toys for the kids and dozens of CDs we played constantly and movies for bedtime.
It felt like we were guests in someone's home, not renting a home online.
Thank you for this experience. You made it very special for us.
Thank you so much for your nice review, I am touched, as what you describe is exactly what Consuelo and I are trying to do in a genuine way. I wouldn't welcome my personal friends any different and I am so happy to know you had a great stay.
That breeze is incredible, isn't it? I haven't experienced it anywhere in Belize. And I love Consuelo for all the special touches she puts in her work, all from the bottom of her heart. She is a mother of four and knows exactly what kind of small attention a mother needs for a perfect holiday : having clothes all folded without having to ask. She's brilliant and I am fortunate to have her. Thank you Kari for appreciating her as well!
Katia was amazing to work with. Her directions to the property and suggestions of outings in the area were perfect. Consuelo met us at the house the first night to go over the house details. Our "welcome meal" was terrific after a long day of travel and visit to the zoo. Highly recommend this property. Our only complaint is that we didn't get to stay longer!
Don’t hesitate to book this property. It’s a 10-min drive to San Ignacio where you can find tour guides to take you pretty much anywhere. This house is an architectural masterpiece. The owner is so accommodating and responsive. The view is fabulous and it’s nice and quiet w/ good bird watching. We used Pacz Tours in San Ignacio for our caving trips (ATM cave & tubing in Roaring Creek River through the cave complex there). Xunantunich ruins are also close to the house (@15 - 20 min drive) where we heard and saw howler monkeys. This is the best location to use as a base for inland explorations of Belize (and eastern Guatemala too).
Thank you Diana, it's been a pleasure to have you & your family. All the best from us!
Our stay at Casa Hill View was great. The house had everything we needed and the views were incredible. Consuelo, the caretaker of the house, was super helpful and even came and cooked dinner for us one night. She taught my daughter and I how to make pupusas! The house is located near the towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena. It is also centrally located to many of the tourist attractions. I would recommend renting a car to get around as taxi service is not reliable in this area. Also, if you are a lite sleeper you should bring a noise machine bc you will hear the wild life at night and the dogs!
fantastic stay in a beautiful house
very nice house with amazing views. close to town but feels private and remote. we really enjoyed the pool.
Beautiful. Peaceful. Quiet.
Beautiful home with stunning views and gardens. The housekeeper and caretaker were so helpful. We were cooked a fabulous dinner and taught how to make flour and corn tortillas and papusas. Fresh fruit and a bottle of wine were awaiting our arrival. Plenty of birdwatching right off the back porch. Ruins, waterfalls and many tours available VERY close. The weekend market in town is a must do. Tons of fresh fruit and veggies. Being from Texas my main concern was being without AC. Well, that surely wasn't a problem. Very breezy there on the hill. Even got a bit chilly at night. I would have no reservations about staying there again. The house is huge with plenty of places to get in some private reading or napping time. Don't hesitate to book this house.
The house is the ideal spot for all-around adventuring! trails and hiking, medicine trails, archeology, Maya temples including Tikal Guatemala, bird watching, river trips, waterfalls, caving, zip lining, butterfly farms, etc. The house is located 2 miles from downtown San Ignacio where any tour can be organized with an array of choice of tour guides and tour agencies.
