Our MAIN APARTMENT, sleeping 4/5, is situated in the quiet corner of Port-Vendres and has beautiful views that take in the church and the surrounding hills and is superbly placed for the harbour, shops, restaurants, beaches, sea and coastal walks. Secure parking space.

Stayinng in our apartment, you will have the amazing opportunity to benefit in all of the advantages of this lively and lovely village on the Mediterranean Coast. The charming port of Collioure is within in 30 mins walk of both apartments.Collioure can also be reached by boat, tourist train or the 'one euro' bus.

About Mike Pratt

I live in Groby, Leicestershire, in the UK. I met Sue, from Derby, in 2010 and we got married in 2012.

It was 2008 when, by chance, I found Port-Vendres on Google and decided to have my summer holiday there. I loved the place and surrounding area so much, that 3 months later, I was back to sign the contract on a new two bedroom apartment.

With Sue and I getting married in 2012, we were then able and lucky enough to purchase a small studio apartment along the harbour side in the same year.

Why Mike Pratt chose Port-Vendres

The port and surrounding area ticked so many of my boxes that I knew I would struggle to find anywhere better to invest some capital that had come my way. Airports, rail connections and roads make for a choice of ways to get there. Soon, Barcelona will be within easy reach for the day when the fast TGV train connection is finally complete with that of the town of Perpignan. In winter, the ski slopes are within striking distance too.

What makes this apartment unique

Port-Vendres is on the Mediterranean Sea and close to the border of Spain and the small town is an essential stop on any tour of the Roussillon. Here sea and mountains meet providing sumptuous natural surroundings, perfect for swimming, diving, walking, discovering or just chilling-out! Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the renowned Scottish artist, designer and architect spent the last four years of his life here, but if you want bigger names, then a short walk away is the beautiful Collioure, where Picasso, Matisse and Derain have all left their mark!

There is no better way to enjoy Port-Vendres than just walking around the harbour to take in the sights and colours. Whether it be fishing boats, pleasure boats or just watching a large cargo boat being tugged into position, there is always something going on in this small town. Within a 30 minute walk you could find yourself in the beautiful resort of Collioure. Within this small town you’ll find beaches, many historic buildings and art galleries galore! If you’ve not been to this part of France, then you’ll be surprised at how nice and unspoilt this area is!

Our main apartment advertised here is tastefully furnished to a high standard and comes with a dvd library with over 250 films to watch on a 32 inch flat screen TV. We have a few games too, and have hung on the walls some of my painted scenes of Port-Vendres to bring a personal touch.

We have put together a photo book of some of our best photos taken around the port and you'll be able to see these if you stay in our apartment.

A spacious and comfortable apartment in the centre of Port Vendres with secure garage parking place

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment. Just a short walk away from shops, bars and restaurants of Port Vendres and the coastal path. We also loved being so close to Collioure - for us just about a 30 minute gentle walk away.

The apartment is as described and has everything needed for a self-catering holiday stay. It is nicely furnished and Mike's artworks decorating the walls are a lovely touch. We were very pleased to find that there is also Wi-Fi provided, which were not expecting.

We would certainly recommend this property as a wonderful base to explore the area or simply relax as we did.

A Lovely Place To Relax and Unwind

We stayed in the apartment for a week in September and we really enjoyed our holiday. The apartment is spacious and comfortable and in a very convenient location, just a short walk away from the harbour, restaurants and bars. There is a supermarket nearby and another on the other side of the harbour, so self catering is easy. The apartment's balcony is a sun trap and is spacious enough to get 4 people round the dinner table. I would recommend the wine cave near to the apartment, where you can take your own container and buy inexpensive but good quality wine for enjoying on the balcony as you watch the sun go down! Port-Vendres itself is a very pleasant fishing port, but if you want something livelier then Collioure is a pleasant 30 minute walk away. If you don't want to walk then there are buses and a tourist train to get you there or back. If you want to go further afield (e.g. the Pyrenees) then hiring a car is advisable.

I would recommend this apartment for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a lovely corner of France.

Great Apartment in a Great Location

We stayed for a week in late July/early August, 2012. Mike was a really great host and very easy to deal with. Although we never met, he was extremely prompt in replying to my emails or calling me back. The apartment was exactly as advertised. We loved it and would stay again, easily. Whatever criticisms I had were so minor that I don't think they are particularly useful mentioning; every vacation has glitches, and no apartment or hotel experience is going to be perfect. When you factor in the amazing location, in a picturesque town, the convenience to the beaches, especially along the littoral pathway, on which we walked every day, the great restaurants both in Collioure and Port Vendres, the lovely terrace on which you can start your day, and the clean, modern apartment in which you'll stay, the place is worth it.

Thanks Mike. You'll definitely be hearing from us in the near future.

When you spend a hefty amount of change and travel 21 hours to your destination, you hope it will all have been worth the cost. I can confirm that Port Vendres and our accommodations were the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. First let me say that the apartment was perfect for the 4 of us adults. It is very tastefully decorated with plenty of sitting room and comfortable furniture in the living area and a wonderful patio with table and chairs overlooking Port Vendres. The apartment is supplied with all the necessary day-to-day living appliances, cooking & eating utensils, glasses, etc. that one needs . There is a large DVD collection of movies, large screen TV, reading material and lots of travel guides for the area. Also, there is a comprehensive list of services within the area, including a doctor which one of us had reason to visit. The bedrooms are of decent size and the beds comfortable. The bathroom is great with plenty of storage space for personal grooming items. For the townspeople of Port Vendres, they were gracious and patient with our limited French and eager to help when asked. The town is clean, quiet and interesting with kind of a fairy-tale esscence of a small sea port. While restaurant fare is not gourmet, the food was good. Within 10 to 30 minutes by car you can explore other towns with different energy if quiet and retiring wears thin. Collioure is a larger more festive and artsy town with lots of shops and restaurants. Perpignan, the capital of the Pyrénées-Orientalesis, is typical of a larger French city with plenty of history and sites to explore. Day trips to Nimes, Avignon, Arles are also worth doing if you have the time. It was the perfect vacation, just too short. Hopefully, someday we can return.

Great apartment, wonderful town

Everything about our stay in Port Vendre was top drawer. The apartment was terrific, convenient, well-equipped and very comfortable. Mike was an amiable host. His web site made for easy trip planning. The apartment was replete with information about the areas and Eve, Mike's on-site manager, was ever ready to help out with ideas about places to go and answers to questions. I would heartily recommend Port Vendre and the apartment for any couple looking for a relaxed time by the sea.

A Beautiful Apartment in a Perfect Position

We found the Apartment to be very well equipped, comfortable, clean, light, airy and possessing all mod cons, it was like going from home to home!

It is situated in a beautiful little fishing village with various small shops supplying all ones needs and several restaurants to choose from to suit ones pocket.

The buses are cheap to use and the train within walking distance. However, if you wish to venture further afield I would advise hiring a car as it would be well worth it and a great help in getting to and from the nearest Airport which is Perpignan. Taxis are inclined to be expensive, especially if you travel after 7pm.

There are some lovely walks around the area both coastal and inland

although it would be beneficial to pack a good map of the area to help

The hills surrounding Port-Vendres are covered with the grapes of the old Banyuls vineyards. So beautiful is the countryside here that artists including Picasso and Salvador Dali felt inspired to paint around this area. The beautiful port of Collioure is just 2km away.
