The apartment was very well equipped, other amenities on site where very good. Our first time on the Silver Coast, enjoyed it especially the local beaches, Salgado, Nazare & Foz do Arelho. We will definitely come back to explore more of this coastline.
Ate out most nights in Sao Martinho and can honestly say we didn't have a bad meal, Portobello (Italian) if you fancy a change from fish, alternatively 'Pesca no Prato' and 'Royal Marina'.
Apartment was clean and comfortable with everything for an enjoyable stay.
We visited this apartment with our three children, aged 14 and twins of 12. We had a lovely warm welcome from Anna who put a smile on our faces after a long and frustrating day of travel. Anna was very helpful in dealing with our queries and sorting out a few minor niggles.
The apartment worked well for us - it was large, clean and well equipped. The only thing which we would have liked was a second bathroom. The complex felt safe and secure and our children enjoyed playing many hours of tennis (and some football) in the onsite tennis court.
Unusually for July the weather was a bit chilly, so instead of heading to the beaches we used explored the rich history of the area. By the end of our stay the weather had picked up so we were able to head to the sandy beaches. There was a good variety of restaurants in the area.
At the end of our stay in Portugal we spent a few days in Lisbon which was a interesting vibrant city.
From the first day of booking, we were well looked after by the owners. Plenty of communication about the booking and the apartment. With ideas about the area and what there is to do. They even helped us book the right size taxi transfer from the airport to accommodate my wife, 2 teenagers and a large bike bag! Though we arrived late, their representative Ana met us at the apartment with the keys and showed us around. Ana had bought some food and drink for us, which was a most welcome. The apartment is very spacious, very clean and all modern equipment. For a bit extra you can have wifi in the apartment, which the children and adults really appreciated. Plenty of storage space, balcony to every room, air con all over and fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances you would have at home. We spent a lot of time by the pool, which was never crowded and always plenty of chairs to choose from. Some days we had a few games of tennis in the tennis court, the rackets being available from the apartment, which is a nice touch. We found the small but well stocked shop on the way to the resort centre and went there every day for essentials, like fresh baked buns, cakes, milk etc. Though there is a large supermarket further up the main road if you want a larger range. The resort is beautifully sheltered and great for swimming in, clean soft sand and plenty of space. We went to a different restaurant every night, trying local dishes, fresh fish, Italian and pizzas. Price were very reasonable and the quality good to high. Plenty of little gems to find in the resort; glass lift to the old town, with its' winding back streets; walks along the wooden boardwalk to the quieter end of the bay, with great views across the area from the top of the sand dune beware the sand is very hot on the way up! Even a cave passage at the end of the harbour, opening up to the rocky cliff area where the Atlantic ocean crashes into. We had a great holiday in Sao Martinho de Porto, nice and Portugese and the quality of the apartment and the care from the owners really made it special. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and relatives and we could not ask for more from the owners.
We had a great week at Atlantico Golf. The apartment was everything we expected it to be - clean and just as described. The weather was warm when we were there so we made good use of the balcony and pool. Our 10-year-old son especially loved being able to go in the pool every day and made friends with other children there. The pool was never too busy though - it was always possible to get a quiet swim at some point during the day if you wanted. We didn't hire a car for this trip and managed fine without as it was no more than a 10 minute walk to the town/beach and the Intermarche supermarket. This suited us as we were just there for a week and just wanted to relax, but perhaps if we stayed again or for longer it might be nice to hire a car and explore the surrounding area. Our favourite place to eat was Boca do Mar - lovely food, service and atmosphere with a view of the sea. We enjoyed our walks around Sao Martinho do Porto - we particularly liked the old town. One evening we walked along the boardwalk to the other side of the bay in order to climb the massive sand dune! Rewarded by superb views :-) All communications with Debbie were great, emails were responded to quickly and airport transfers were very kindly organised for us. All in all a fantastic place - highly recommended!
This apartment is spacious, well equipped, comfortable and quiet for sleeping. It is in a very good location for exploring the area with easy access to the motorway. We hired a car from Lisbon airport so this apartment was perfect with secure parking outside the entrance door or in the underground car park. The large kitchen door opens onto the balcony for easy outside dining. The apartment was clean, well-equipped and secure. It was comforting to be met by Ana on arrival and have her as the contact during our stay.
We spent two lovely weeks at Atlantico Golf. The apartment was excellent - really well equipped and great space (no one was on top of each other). Our two children (aged 6 and 4) had a wonderful holiday and made full use of the clean and often very quiet swimming pool. In fact we bought inflatables for them as they were having such a great time there. The DVDs in the apartment were a real bonus and enjoyed by all. We made a lot of use of the washing machine and dishwasher - catering for ourselves for breakfast and lunch (the balcony was a lovely place to eat al fresco and the children felt very grown up sitting there). Debbie's directions to the apartment were great, very helpful and Ana (who is the agent in Portugal) was simply lovely and couldn't offer enough advice. We took advantage of many of the Sao Martinho restaurants and particularly liked Boca do Mar and Pesca No Prata. The beach was not too busy (despite being at the peak of the holiday season). The caves at Grutas Do Mira were excellent - definitely recommend. The water park was a bit small for older children but a good size for under 8s. All in all we had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend the apartment to families. We will be back, I'm sure!
São Martinho do Porto, a small traditional Portuguese fishing town, sits on the edge of a spectacular bay and is protected from the Atlantic so is perfect for families & ideal for windsurfing & sailing. The beach is considered to be one of the top 10 in Portugal. The bay is surrounded by a wide range of cafes, bars & restaurants with amazing views. There is a supermarket, shops & a regular fish & vegetable markets. This idyllic town has loads of character & much of the older historic parts still have cobbled streets. There are 5 golf courses within a 15-20 min drive, including the Praia d'el Rey championship course - one of the best in Europe.
Highlights of the local area include dinosaur trail; Island of Berlenga (with jagged coastline & bird sanctuary); Obidos (walled medieval town); Nazare (beach resort); monastery at Alcobaca; beautiful beaches backed by pine forests; spectacular underground caves of Grutas de Mira de Aire. The beautiful city of Lisbon is just 1 hour away.
