About Gail Kimrey

I grew up spending weekends at Guntersville Lake and have wonderful memories on the lake with my family fishing, boating, swimming and just hanging out. Wanted my children and family to enjoy the same experiences that I had and for us to make many memories for years to come.

Gail Kimrey purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Gail Kimrey chose Alabama

Deep water(8-9 ft) for swimming and boating was a priority for us as well as being close to the main channel. The house is located close to the water, you feel like you are right by it from the house. You can hear the waves lapping at the sea wall at night, watch herons dip down and catch a fish and see fisherman catch fish after fish right by your dock. It is 45 minutes from our home, so a day trip, weekend trip or all week are all convenient. It is also close to the city of Scottsboro, so that a quick trip to town if you need Walmart or the grocery store doesn't take all day. Easy to find off the highway, but you feel miles away from home.

What makes this cabin unique

From the first time we walked into the cabin, I knew this was the one. We wanted a cabin that everyone could enjoy and not worry messing up but would enable us to sit and relax and enjoy the company of those around us. Everyone comments on how cozy and relaxing it is--they don't want to leave. From the screened in porch, to the stone patio to the large dock, there is a space for everyone to find their spot;.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time and REALLY enjoyed the cabin. Much rest and relaxation - which was just what I (we) needed.

We found some kind of large green/white tree frog - and also ran into a few armadillo's -- I think we saw muskrats - not sure what else it would have been. And we heard coyote across the lake one evening.

The unclaimed baggage center didn't have anything we couldn't live without ! We did go to Cathedral Caverns and the Sauty Cave

THANK YOU!

loved it

  • 5 of 5

The owner is great, I was coming from Ohio (8.5 hours), she let me know the day before we could check in early as no one had stayed the night before. I didn't think we would be early, but ended up 2-3 hours early in scottsborro. I texted her to make sure it was still ok, she answered quickly and said go ahead. She is readily available if you need anything, we didn't everything was perfect, a quick text to let her know the cabin looked good, and a text the day of checkout was all it took. I feel if something wasn't right she would of been on it.

The cabin is great, awesome location on the lake, and the feel upon arriving is you have the keys to a friends cabin to use.You can see they take pride in their family cabin, and you feel like a family friend using it, VERY NICE.

Fishing is awesome off the dock, caught lots of bass and you can catch all the bream you want.( some big ones to)Largest gill was 12-13 inches, and largest shell cracker was 11-12". Caught some nice cats also, biggest cat off the dock was a 15 pound blue cat.

I loved lake guntersville, never been there before and the fishery was impressive to me, I will be back next year for sure I am going to take a week instead of 4 days.

One last note you may want to book early if your date is open, we originally had a different day in mind, but it booked.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review and I am so glad you found our cabin to be like a friend's cabin you were using. And we do take pride in making it a place for rest and relaxation as well as a great place to catch fish! Loved the picture you send of the catfish-he was large! Hope you have you back soon and thanks for making the long drive from Ohio.

Just what we needed!!

  • 5 of 5

Though the weather turned and we had a day or so of cool, windy conditions we had a FANTASTIC time here! Great location; feels like miles away from the real world yet convenient to the things you might need and enjoy. So all in all the best of both worlds!! Had occasion to speak with owner and what a nice lady! We will do it again! Oh and a hint....the screen porch is where it's at!!

Relaxing Lake House!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for our son's school fishing tournament. While they were fishing we enjoyed the patio and screened porch. Very comfortable stay. We would like to come back when the weather is warmer and we can enjoy the dock and water. The steps were not an issue for our family since we had two teenage boys helping us. I love the outside patio area and would have spent more time out there had the weather been better.

Great place on the Lake!!

  • 5 of 5

We brought our teenage boys to fish. The weather was colder than original forecast, but they still got out and fished. The house is exactly what we were looking for. The renters are very nice and easy to deal with. Location is great for fishing. We hope to come back soon. Thank you!!

Nice retreat at the lake

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this cabin for a couple of nights and enjoyed our time there very much. If the weather hadn't been so cold (20F), we could have enjoyed the lake more, but the cabin was everything you need for a week or more stay. The cabin was so well furnished that we felt like we were staying in someone's home without them knowing about it. The temperature in the cabin did get down a bit the second night, but it was 16 degrees at the lowest point. The owner was very responsive during the booking process and provided thorough checkin/checkout information. We will stay here again when we can get more time to enjoy it more. Thank you.
