Lakefront House that can Sleep Up to 7
About Jennifer Dobbins
The story of Elirose… My husband and I met at Oswego State which is right on Lake Ontario. Who can’t help but fall in love with the lake? So fast forward to 2010. There used to be plots of land for sale further down the road and we came really close to buying one. He would come up at least once a month to see if anything new came up for sale. And wouldn’t you know it…this treasure goes on the market! All I really ever wanted, and never expected, was a piece of land right on the lake; the house is just an added bonus! We were shown the house and immediately fell in love with it. We have two daughters and when we showed the house to them they were afraid we were moving so we had to come up with something to call it. I call it my little piece of Heaven. But we took their middle names Elizabeth and Rose and combined them and Elirose was born. We love skipping rocks on the shore, swimming and playing games at the picnic table, relaxing while the sun sets, having bonfires and s’mores with friends and family and watching the stars and catching lightening bugs. We hope that you and your family will make some great memories here too!

Visit for Sterling Renaissance Festival
Main purpose was to attend the Sterling Renaissance Festival which we very much enjoyed.
House was a great way to spend the weekend.
Views were wonderful.
House was great for the six of us.
Was wonderful having air conditioning as the outdoor temp was in the 90's and very muggy.
Hosts were easy to deal with left a very nice welcome basket.
House had all of the necessities including washer, dryer, and dishwasher which is always appreciated.
Kitchen was well supplied.
Lots of room for everyone to do what they wanted without being on top of each other.
We didn't miss not having cable TV with the addition of Netflix provided.
Would be fun to spend a week in the area as we had allocated only the weekend.
The place was perfect! We went with my sister and her family to visit my dad and the house was so welcoming. There was something for everyone! We played piano, games inside and outside and had s’mores while catching up with the most beautiful sunset. I tried to read my book in every spot.....so many great ones. Thankyou for sharing !
Is definitely like a little piece of heaven
This was like staying at a bird sanctuary I have never seen so many blue jays at once and the second morning of our stay I could say the same about robin’s. It was so peaceful and beautiful highly recommend this place.
Comfortable and quiet. Beautiful views of Lake.
My family and I loved this little house. Perfect for a laid back visit to this area - it felt like home in a very short period of time. The owners were helpful and left a "welcome" package in the refrigerator for us. Comfortable beds. Nice area for walking or enjoying the lake. Quiet. I highly recommend.
NOTE: This house was originally on the opposite side of the street. When it was moved, it retained the same street address. So if you are looking on the left, think again.
Great location very private house is very clean. This is our 2nd time at the house this year and will be back next year
Mesmerising sunsets and a charming house
A perfect place for mesmerizing sunsets, listening to the waves, watching the water, thinking about your work or just lazing around. We also made day trips to Niagara Falls (a long drive) and a winery, Corning and Cornell University (much more feasible). We also spent a short time in nearby Oswego and the area around the river was charming. But given a choice, I would have preferred to spend all my time by the lake and the house.
My extended family of seven rented the house for 5 days in mid-August. The house is set back about 150 feet from the Lake Ontario shoreline (a wise decision because of erosion concerns) and the lawn extends to the bluff which is about 15 feet higher than the shoreline. A set of steps goes down to the shoreline. There is a swing and a set of tables close to the bluff so that one can watch the lake at close range. The lake is also visible from the house and the chairs just outside the house. The beach is about 25 feet wide and pebbly so one needs slippers or shoes to wade in the water.
On the ground floor there is a master bedroom with a king sized bed for two or three people and another room with a twin bed. Upstairs there is a small bedroom for two or three people. There is also a sofa downstairs where I slept and a sofa bed upstairs. There was room enough for 7 people.
The house has all the amenities - a good kitchen, washer dryer, plates, dishes etc. Groceries, drug store, gas station are within a 15 minute drive. We did not sample the restaurants nearby but Oswego is a 15 minute drive with several restaurants. Communication via text and email with the host Jen was pleasant and prompt.
If I have to quibble, I would have liked another lamp or more light in the piano room and perhaps a faster internet connection. However, we were fine with these issues and perhaps not having a faster internet connection is a blessing.
Jen, thanks again.
We are just minutes away from Sterling Nature Center and a couple miles away from the Sterling Renaissance Festival.
Fair Haven's quaint town offers little shops, restaurants and a sandy beach at Fair Haven Beach State Park. The Park also has Boat Rentals, Fishing, Hunting, Stand-up Paddle Boarding, Ice Fishing, and Snowshoeing Trails.
In Oswego, there are charter boats for fishing, golf, a movie theater, many resturants and pubs on the water and little shops.
