Clean and beautiful vacation home
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation, this is the place. We had a wonderful time and hope to book this cottage again next summer. We met the owners who were such nice people! Such a pleasure meeting them!
I’ll just list everything I can think of
*Location: Right off the main drag (M-66), far enough away so there is no road noise, but only a 10 mile drive to downtown Charlevoix (lots to do and see and great dining) and Lake Michigan. (You have to go to Michigan beach). The cottage is on Lake Charlevoix, with a nice little beach. Other cottages are in the cul-de-sac, and everyone we met was very nice.
*Cottage: Immaculate. Not just clean, but honestly, immaculate.
*Kitchen: Well-appointed. Electric stove/oven, microwave, full size refrigerator/freezer, new stainless steel sink and garbage disposal, coffee maker, toaster, blender, new oak cabinets. Stocked with dishes, glassware, cups, silverware, cutlery, cutting board, pots, pans, can opener, pot holders, about everything you have in your kitchen. There were trash bags, coffee filters, paper towels, saran wrap, and foil, which we weren’t expecting. We brought own. There is a big table off the kitchen that seats 6. A large picture window for a beautiful view of Lake Charlevoix.
*Bath: One. Immaculate, with shower and bathtub. Stocked with liquid soap, toilet paper, Kleenex. Well water, but they have a water treatment system so it is better tasting than our city water at home!
*Bedrooms: 3. One with a standard size mattress, which is probably a tight squeeze for most American adults, but this was the better mattress. The other 2 rooms had 2 twins each. We turned the twin mattresses over since they looked a bit sway-backed. (Hence, 4 out of 5 stars). My husband and I are used to a king bed at home, so we pushed 2 twins together, and ta-da! A king size bed! All the twins though, should be replaced after this season.
*Living room: Spacious and carpeted. Two couches and a comfy recliner that my husband loved. Cable TV and DVD player.A doorwall opens out to a big deck where you can relax or walk down to the little beach. They even supplied beach chairs!
*Beach: Small, not long, but wide, sandy beach. Clean and quiet.
*What to bring: kitchen, bath, beach towels, dish cloth, dish soap, bath soap, shampoo, blow drier, sheets and bed pillows.
This is a great place for a whole family, or just the two of you. You will love Charlevoix and Petoskey!
Wonderful family vacation spot!
Charlevoix is our favorite town in Northern MI! We love this cottage location- it is hard to find sandy beaches on this lake and this property has a wonderful spacious beach. The owners keep everything very clean and the cottage had everything you need. All the neighbors are very nice and there is a lot to see and do in town or just relax on the deck or at the beach.
Fantastic Summer Stay!
This cottage has a brand new kitchen and bathroom- very clean, with lots of attention to detail. Just steps away from the beach and Lake Charlevoix. Wonderful location, would highly recommend!
Peaceful family vacation spot
This quaint cottage in Charlevoix is situated on the south arm of Lake Charlevoix in Villa Nueva. There are about eight or ten cottages in this neighborhood which has an exclusive, private beach area that was never crowded. There is little boat traffic past this beach, which made for a peaceful, relaxing experience. The lake does have a raft for the kids, which was fun for them to play on. It should be noted that the cottage does not sit directly on the beach; there is a little bit of a walk to get there. However, it is not long and we actually appreciated having our own private space to congregate for dinner on the back patio.
The property was very well maintained and clean. The owner was a pleasure to work with--friendly and provided accurate details of the property. The cottage was comfortable and homey. There were no surprises regarding the information I was given; it was as I expected.
We enjoyed going into the town of Charlevoix to visit the many shops and restaurants. The pier is another beautiful attraction to visit, especially during sunset. You must visit the fresh fish place (right on the water; can't remember the name of it!) in order to try the catch of the day and the whitefish pate.
Charlevoix is also close (withing an hour or two) to Petoskey and other northern Michigan attractions, including Traverse City, Leelanau, Sleeping Bear Dunes. and Mackinaw Island.
If you are looking for a peaceful location to vacation with your family, this cottage will provide the relaxation you are looking for along with proximity to northern Michigan cities that provide an excellent tour of what makes Michigan great!
Well appointed comfortable home in a beautiful set
We have staying at this property for the same week for a number of years. We are delighted with the accommodations and the location. The property is located in a cottage club area - which provides a number of benefits: large open spaces for games, a well groomed common beach and roped in swimming area with a float. As well, since there are several places that have rentals, there is the potential to line up a week where family or friends could also rent a place. Owners Debbie and Doug and delightful.
