Enjoy this sunny end unit in the beautiful Collins Lake development in the heart of Government Camp on Mt. Hood. It's furnished with new and mid-century modern furniture for you to enjoy when you come home to relax after a busy day on Mt. Hood.

Collins Lake features a year-round outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, leisure pool, and is walking distance to Government Camp village shops and restaurants. Right next door to Ski Bowl for winter skiing and summer activities. A short drive to historic Timberline Lodge with its wonderful skiing and gourmet restaurants.

The master bedroom includes a king platform bed and a private bathroom. This bed has a pillow top mattress, 500 thread count cotton sheets and a down comforter. The second bedroom has a queen bed also with a pillow-top mattress, 500 thread count sheets and a down comforter. The third bedroom has a twin over full bed (futon couch) bunk bed. All of the beds are super-comfortable with high-thread-count sheets and down comforters. There is also porta-crib for baby. 2 1/2 bathrooms and a fully-outfitted gourmet kitchen. 3 flat screen T.V.'s, 3 DVD players and free wi-fi. There is a heated garage with a washer and dryer.

About Sandra Kruger

My husband and I own and operate a farm on Sauvie Island outside of Portland. Because of our busy farming schedule we are unable to take summer vacations and look forward to many weekend winter getaways up on the mountain. Our kids ages 10 and 13 are growing up so fast that we decided that we want to spend as much time with them up on Mt. Hood enjoying winter sports.

I love Mt. Hood and chose this condo after spending many weekends in our friend's unit right next door. It's very convenient to skiing and, with its proximity to the village of Government Camp, you get a real alpine experience. The soaking tub and pool are great for the kids as is Ski Bowl across the street.

What makes this condo unique

We love this end unit because the extra windows make it so bright and sunny. We've chosen to outfit it with new and mid-century modern furniture because it's what we love and how we live at home.

Great family home base

We have stayed in Collins Lake Resorts in the past and enjoy the pool, proximity to trails, restaurants and walking distance to Volcano Cone! The layouts of the units are very similar but the furnishing and decor varies greatly. Sandra's unit is definitely on the more tasteful side which was a bonus. Sandra was a good communicator and reimbursed our damage deposit within a week. The unit was well appointed and worked perfectly for our group of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). Our only very small issue was the noise from Hwy 26. Traffic seemed to be pretty busy while we there so maybe it was more noticeable than previous stays. I figure it would have been equally loud from most units in Collins Lake anyways. Thanks for the nice visit!

Nice place

This is a nice condo. It is 3 stories tall.

The first story is the garage level. The entrance to the garage is very, very narrow but if you drive slow, a car can fit in. The garage inside opens up to a larger area with plenty of room for a parked car. It is also the location of the washer and dryer and winter storage.

As you enter the condo, there is a front door to your left and a very long straight up staircase to your right. This staircase will take you to the main living area with a half bath, living room, dining room and kitchen. Off of the kitchen is another long straight up staircase to take you to the 3rd floor which has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. One bathroom has a stand up shower stall and the other a full tub with shower. We were instructed that if that floor gets wet, it leaks through to the living room ceiling so we should use plenty of bathmats and towels on the floor.

We stayed here during the off season and the resort felt abandoned - like an eerie ghost town. But if you stay during season, I am sure there would be lots of activities. We followed the directions we were given and got lost. We did take Hwy 26 and followed the turn off road to Government Camp but then it said to "Take the third right at the top of the hill into Collins Lake Resort." It was not on our right but on our left. The directions provided assumed we were traveling east on Hwy 26 from Portland but we were actually traveling west on Hwy 26 after coming up from Crater Lake. I had a printed map of the area and was able to got us there. I mention this because if you are traveling west instead of east - know the resort will be on your left!

We felt this was a good choice when staying in Government Camp, OR. The only thing we disliked was paying a $95 cleaning fee and having to take out our own garbage. I don't mind taking it downstairs to a garbage can. But here you actually have to load it in your car and drive it to the main resort entrance across from the management office and place it in the huge dumpsters there. We also had to do all the dishes before leaving which I don't mind doing. But $95 just to vacuum and change out bedding & towels seemed like a steep price.

It also took longer than expected to get our $200 damage deposit back. I started to wonder if the owner forgot our refund.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and found this to be a good choice when staying in Government Camp and I am sure you will enjoy it too!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. I will certainly adjust the directions to reflect how to get there when traveling from the east. As for the cleaning fee and policies, I'll certainly look them to see if they seem reasonable. I can tell you that the average I pay my cleaning crew generally exceeds the amount I charge the guests. Cleaning a home for a vacation rental involves a very thorough cleaning after each guest leaves. For instance, the fridge, stove and oven need to be cleaned each time. All of the linens, including bathrobes and floor mats must be washed. Even the garage is swept out. The only reason we ask for dishwasher to be run and trash taken to the dumpster is that sometimes our cleaning crew doesn't get in there for a few days and those items can become pest magnets and stinky messes if they are left in the condo. The refunds are automatically issued by VRBO approximately 7 days after departure and can take a few days longer to be processed by the bank. Homeowners like me are not responsible for the time lapse in getting refunds to renters. Thanks again for your helpful feedback.

Wonderful apartment! Even better then it looks!

The place was fantastic! Kept very clean and well cared for. It had everything we needed. The apartment was full of light, was close to the pool, spacious, BBQing while it was snowing! Would absolutely recommend this place!
