Why Melanie Vankoten- Eve chose Lakeside

Both Montanan natives, we moved from the eastern side of the state to the Valley many years ago. Living in Whitefish & Rollins before settling in Lakeside, we decided Flathead Lake is our favorite place to be summer or winter. The views are amazing in any season, the lake an ever-changing tapestry with wind, snow & ice, sunshine & blue skies, fog, rain, sunrises & sunsets. We are on the lake for summer fun but also close to ski areas in the winter....

What makes this cabin unique

WOW! Montana at its finest! The Flathead Lake is amazing area .... whatever the season, the views change daily! Central location for you to base from while you enjoy your summer/fall/winter vacation plans.

Summer fun in Glacier country

  • 4 of 5

Just got back from a marvelous stay at Flathead Lake. Mel and Joe were great hosts, assisting us with various things, and even providing a great welcoming basket of goodies for us to enjoy! The location is pristine, and in the best spot on the entire lake. Town of Lakeside is full of friendly, helpful, and modest people. No elitism here. Just hard working people trying to assure your pleasure, while visiting this piece of heaven. Hiked Glacier National, a short 45 minutes away, and saw the beautiful town of Whitefish, and Kalispell. Whitefish lake is a must also, and can be reached in 30 minutes from the cabin. Tamarak Brewery in town is great. We purchased a growler and filled it with a fresh new brew every couple of days. Pulled our boat to Flathead, and the dock and facilities at this cabin are wonderful with great mooring, dock lights, and great ladder to lake providing for wonderful late afternoon swims. Can't imagine going a year without returning to this special place. Oh, and buy the way, returned with over 25 pounds of Mackinaw fillets in the cooler. What fun!

See you all next year........

Incredible, relaxing time on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few nights at the cabin following our wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect. The cabin is beautiful and cozy, the views off the porch can't be beat and the private dock on the lake is lovely. Melanie and Joe were wonderful hosts and I definitely recommend this special place for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Quiet Lakeside Retreat. Helpful Friendly Hosts

  • 5 of 5

Great cozy cabin right on the lake. Quiet on relatively calm side of the lake. Private dock with lift. Canoe, kayaks, paddleboards to use. Dog Friendly: Host dog is a good playmate. Very friendly, accommodating, thoughtful hosts. Short drive to town. Clean. Great spot for a couple. Osprey and deer sightings daily.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon and loved it. The cabin was very cute, cozy, and clean. When we arrived there was huckleberry chocolate and a bottle of wine waiting for us. We spent a few days playing on the lake, it was perfect to have our own dock. They let us use their canoe, kayaks, and paddleboards which was extremely nice that we didn't have to rent them ourselves. The view from the dock is gorgeous. They also let us bring our two large dogs, which was very important to us (it was difficult to find a place that would let us have them). They even had an outside kennel for them to use. We also spent a few days in Glacier National Park, which was probably about 45 minutes away, and it was incredible. Another thing we loved was there was a great brewery with a full kitchen only 10 minutes away from the cabin in Lakeside. We also tried 6 other breweries in the area in neighboring towns. We were extremely impressed and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Only negatives (which almost aren't worth mentioning) included the bed, but they told us they were replacing it after our stay since more than one guest had complained about it, so it should be brand new for anyone reading this review. Also it was a little chilly while we were there, it was the week after Labor day and was very rainy and chilly enough that the leaves were starting to change colors. It was gorgeous, but for full enjoyment of the lake I'd suggest going earlier in the summer. (However, I should note that they gave us a little discount for booking in September which was extremely nice, so it worked out great).

Another small note, I had read in the reviews that the Internet was very unreliable, but for us it was great the whole week and we watched a movie on Netflix on our tablet almost every night without it ever buffering.

Overall, an amazing stay and one I'll never forget!

Lovely cabin on the lake. Quiet and serene are just a couple of words to describe it

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the lake, this is the place for you. You can sit on the deck and enjoy the view of the lake. The cabin was clean and fully equipped.

Plenty of restaurants nearby and so many deer, we couldn't keep count. Do yourself a favor and go there if you want peace and quiet and and a chance to breakaway from the daily rush.
