About Sara Klobas

We are Ryan and Sara Klobas. We have two boys, Preston (12) and Vance (9). Both of us are native Oregonians and grew up walking the sands and playing in the great waters of the Oregon Coast. Our parents moved here in the 60's and settled in to have a family. We now reside in NE Portland and LOVE Oregon!!

Sara Klobas purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Sara Klobas chose Coastal Oregon

We found this little pink cottage through our sister in law, who lives in Cape Meares full time. We put the word out that we were looking, and after about a year, this little gem popped up as a potential purchase. We spoke to the owner several times and soon shook hands and made a deal. Since then, we have made this place our home away from home.

What makes this cottage unique

There is so much to love about Cape Meares. The 4 miles of uncrowded beach, the drive up the bay, the birds singing as you walk past the lake on the way to the beach, the friendly neighbors, the bright beautiful stars on a clear nite, riding bikes on the spit and beyond, the tidepools if you're there when the tide is LOW, the deck, the wood stove, the great meals on the BBQ, walking forever on the beach or picking blackberries late in Summer. It's just a great place to get away from the craziness of being home.

Quaint

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage is quaint and tucked away in a quite area of the beautiful Oregon coast. It is the perfect place to stay if you are not looking for all the traditional touristy stuff to do. The beach is a 5 min walk or 30 sec car ride away. Tide pools and lots of sand... perfect!

The cottage was clean and orderly. We hope to come back again.

Comfortable, clean and a great price too!

  • 5 of 5

The price was fantastic on this home! It's in a peaceful neighborhood and somewhat close to the beach. The owner was very nice to work with and everything went smoothly. We had never stayed in Cape Mears before but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The beach is a few blocks away - but very easy to walk to. It's a beautiful surrounding at the beach, complete with benches, lots of large driftwood and great shells to collect! Even at high tide, there is still some beach left where our boys were able to play ball. At low tide there is some fantastic tide pooling and there are even some caves with tons of little sea creatures to explore. Just be mindful of the tides and it's not super easy to get to there - but it's well worth it if you can go at low tide. The house was comfortable. It has two bedrooms plus the couch and the kitchen saved us money by cooking in. There aren't many 'extra's - but you're not paying for them either. For instance, there is only one roll of toilet paper and you will need to buy detergent if you want to do laundry. Having to cart out the garbage was a little difficult - but we knew that was required going in. And again - it's priced nicely - so you can afford to bring extra things. Having the washer and dryer was A MUST for us!! My husband and I sat on the front porch many times and just enjoyed the peace. You can get a nice ocean breeze going thru the house with the windows. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and comfortable.

They provided Netflix, etc. - so we enjoyed some family time after site seeing by watching a movie. We appreciate that was provided. The area is GORGEOUS and we were very comfortable in this house. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review on our beach cottage. I'm so happy to hear that you had a wonderful time and enjoyed our home. I apologize about the lack of toilet paper !! The housekeeper usually leaves three or four rolls. I will bring this up to her as a reminder. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

This was a quaint and perfect space for a family of 4 in an ideal setting.

  • 5 of 5

The Peptide is a quaint little beach cottage and a great space for a family of 4 in beautiful Cape Meares Beach. It is off the beaten path and a short walk to the beach. I was a bit worried that pets are allowed because my son has severe allergies, but we couldn't tell at all. He had no issues whatsoever. Very clean. The only thing I would stress is that the policy for taking your garbage with you when you leave is strictly enforced and the option for leaving it for a fee is no longer. This is an issue if you are not from the area and are flying home. We spent time looking for dumpsters in the area that did not have surveillance cameras(this must be a common occurrence here). The owner was very accessible and responded very quickly with any questions we had. We loved our stay here and wished it were longer.

Pleasant cottage close to the ocean in a quiet and peaceful location

  • 4 of 5

We spent two nights at the Peptide over the Easter weekend. We had great weather and enjoyed a long walk at the beach and a hike at Cape Meares near the lighthouse. We had lunch at Rosanna's in Oceanside which has windows looking out at the ocean and has excellent food at a reasonable price. The Peptipe was more than big enough for three adults (or 4) and has a very well equipped kitchen and a nice little woodstove. The beds were comfortable. The couch and chair in the living room are not comfortable as they are too old and really do need to be replaced. The location of the cottage is excellent with the beach only a short walk down the street. The beach can be walked on for miles and the sunset in the evening was beautiful. Tillamook is not far away and has a big Fred Meyer store as well as the Blue Heron French Cheese Company and the Tillamook Cheese Factory which are worth visiting. I would stay at the Peptide again, especially if the couch and chair were replaced.

Owner's Response: I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Peptide! We love our little cottage in our small, quiet community. We understand the couch is old, but if anyone comments on it they usually say it's comfortable. Ugly, but comfy. HAHA. During the last year we have been planning on replacing it anyway. Hopefully we will find the one we want soon. The chair and small table next to it are a set that my husband got from his parents after his mother passed away. I doubt its going anywhere, but the couch we plan to purchase will be larger and able to accommodate more people.

Clean and cozy, the house was perfect. The bedrooms were neat and the entire location was great.

  • 5 of 5

I brought my three kids and dog for mommy and me weekend much-needed. After reading good reviews I was more than excited to bring my kiddos. However, the experience just got better as we stayed. The house was perfect and cozy, realistic and kid friendly. It was clean and had everything needed to make meals at home. The front yard was peaceful with the tree and the sound of the ocean out the bedroom window Just tied it in. I love the location, close to the ocean and not to far from town. Near attractions (Lighthouse, octopus tree, giant spruce spruce), that the kids (and I ) loved. Just a great experience for us. We hope to come back ❤️💜? Oh! And everyone we met was awesome!! The owners are prompt and kind, I appreciate that they are very responsive and welcoming.

Overall, a wonderful experience. Many memories

Location

Car: necessary

The Peptide is located in Cape Meares. Cape Meares is one of the 3 capes on the Scenic Route on the Oregon coast and sits on the south end of the Tillamook Bay. There are 4 miles of uncrowded beach to enjoy as you stroll, play or relax on on the shore. Fishing, biking, kayaking, canoeing, birdwatching and hiking are just some of the great activities to do while visiting CM and if you would like to venture into town (aprox. 7 miles), you may like to get some ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, pick up some fresh Netarts Bay oysters at JAndy's Oyster Co. (call first and ask what's available 503-812-0253), check out the vintage planes at the Air Museum, sample some cheese and wine at the Blue Heron Cheese Factory and take a train ride on a Steam Engine from Garibaldi to Rockaway and back.

There are many species of birds who make Cape Meares and the Bay their home. Blue Herons are a common site, as well as Bald Eagles, Osprey and smaller birds such as Red Winged Black Birds. There have been sightings of deer, elk, porcupine, beaver, bear and more.

Cape Meares is a wooded area. There are no stores, restaurants or gas stations. It is a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. So if you are looking for a small town feel, come here and experience Cape Meares at the Peptide!
