At arrival to the house, Pequena Casa Quadrada, it felt like home to us all.
The people who welkomed us were so nice!
We had a wonderfull time and came to rest in the nice pool.
We made nice trips to Faro and in Lagos we made a boottrip trough the caves at the coast.
In Vilamoura we spent some time at the beach which was great and relaxing.
Everthing you need is within a few kilometers, like nice restaurants and supermarkets.
The roads are perfect and the traffic is very relaxed.
The view from the roofterras is great and in the nighttime you can watch the stars from up there witch is very romantic!
I even saw the space center ISS passing by!
We will come back to this nice place again some day soon!
Thanks fror everything.

Lovely quiet location. Clean and well equipped.Comfortable and homely.Well looked after and wonderfully customer service from the owners parents.Booking and communication was excellent.
'Fantastic' is not a word I'd normally use in a review as frequently a property is let down by something quite fundamental, however we were very pleased to find that everything (major and minor) was as the description and we lacked for nothing in this very clean and comfortable villa.
Very worthy of special mention are the owners parents, Pauline and Finton, (who live nearby) who were very welcoming and couldn't be nicer.
I could rattle on about how everything was great, but the proof of the pudding is that we felt we got value for money in a relaxing setting, and we very much look forward to returning.
We had a fantastic time at this beautiful villa. It's in a very quiet and relaxing location - away from it all yet within half an hour of all the main resorts in the area. We were so impressed with the facilities and can’t think of anything to suggest to make it more comfortable. It was like home from home and the owner's mum and dad made us feel so welcome, from such a friendly greeting and welcome pack on our arrival to attending to the villa and pool throughout our stay. A cot and highchair were arranged for our 18 month old daughter at no extra cost. It was so refreshing to find everything was in place as arranged and there was no need to ask. It was so useful having a cool box, ice packs and picnic ware to hand during our stay. We enjoyed some great picnics thanks to such simple yet necessary facilities. We enjoyed some lovely barbeques too. The owner replied very quickly and helpfully to my email queries before the holiday. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone. In terms of local attractions I would highly recommend Zoomarine - it's a real day to remember and well worth the rather pricey entry fee. The Hamburgo restaurant down the road in Benafim is very good as is the Folklore restaurant in Alte. The nearby villages of Alte, Salir and Silves are beautiful and Loule is a large and buzzing town with a wonderful daily indoor fish and fresh produce market as well as an outdoor gypsy market on Saturday mornings. Albufeira and Quarteira have great beaches (we loved Sao Rafael in Albufeira). Highly recommend Ramires in Guia for the best piri piri chicken and great service and price. Also O Penedo in Albufeira - amazing view of the beach and great food. A fantastic villa and superb holiday location.
We spent 10 days at Pequina Casa Quadrada at the end of March. The house is lovely - just like the photos - right at the edge of a small village in the hills. Fantastic views from the huge roof terrace where we basked in the sun one day. The countryside nearby is perfect for walking, cycling and exploring with a welcome lack of tourist facilities, although our total lack of Portuguese didn't get in the way at all! We visited a couple of the nearest restaurants - all a short drive away, and liked the Folklore restaurant in the lovely village of Alte best.
We spent most of the holiday pottering around the villa - basking on the roof terrace, sitting by the pool, making full use of the wonderful barbecue area and watching the swallows having their daily dip in the pool.
The oranges and lemons are amazing - you can eat the lemons - they are so sweet, and we picked almonds off the trees - lovely!
We made the most of our hire car and visited Tavira on a sunny afternoon and explored the castle walls and watched a stork in its nest high above the rooftops, had an evening in Albufiera - still quiet when we were there, but loads of bars, restaurants in a lovely beach cove setting. We also drove to Caba de Sao Vicente via Portimao (amazing beach and sardines on the boardwalk), and Sagres with its fort and wonderful desolate views. All very manageable for a day trip as the main motorway is pretty direct and pretty empty. We enjoyed driving and used the main supermarket in Loule, which was handy and had the most amazing fresh fish counter!
All in all we had a wonderful ten days here. The house was fantastic, fully kitted out with everything you might need. I thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic shower and even got in the pool (although its not heated and this was March!). The owners had laid on a welcome pack of fruit, ham, cheese, bread and wine which was indeed most welcome on our arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We felt very well looked after, and would highly recommend this villa to anyone wanting to visit the Algarve and make the most of the golf and more touristy resort facilities, but to also have the option to relax away from it all and get more of a feel for rural Portugal.
This "little square house" is exactly as the owner describes and some more, immaculately cleaned and FULLY equipped. Ask about the owners
musical background you may well get a surprise ! Loads of restaurants and very good supermarkets nearby, the coast and Faro are all well within 30 mins drive as are the hills and countryside the other way, this is Portugal not Little England abroad. Treat yourself to a lovely Villa and owner and parents, you will not be dissapointed
We were looking forward to something quite special...... and we were not disappointed.
From the moment we first contacted the owner to the day we left to come home, we were extremely impressed with the service we received. Pauline and Fintan are a lovely couple and were most helpful and welcoming. We spent a very nice evening with them at the Hamburgo restaurant (try the squid, superb).
The property was of the highest standard, with all the touches of a comfortable home. The "rain forest" shower was fantastic and the "roman" bath was wonderfully decadent! The pool and BBQ area were perfect and to have our own fig tree was a joy. Try them grilled on the BBQ with proscuitto and soft cheese on top. Wash them down with a delicious glass (or two) of Portuguese wine whilst watching the sun go down from the patio or the roof terrace..... absolute heaven.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone who wishes to have a wonderfully relaxing holiday, away from the usual tourist areas. The rural setting is so much nicer but if you want beaches, they're only a short drive away. The local restaurants are great and there are plenty of golf courses to choose from.
Overall, one of the best holidays we've had and we look forward to coming back to Pequina Casa Quadradra.
Pequina Casa Quadrada (The Little Square House) is located amongst rolling hills and countryside away from the hustle and bustle of the traditional tourist resorts. You are guaranteed a quiet and relaxed atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The nearest village is Benafim (3 mins drive) and a little further on you will find the beautiful picturesque village of Alte with it's charming cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. Salir, Messines, Boliqueme and Silves are other towns within the locality, that are certainly worth a visit. All with plenty of restaurants and local bars. The town of Loule is just a 15 min drive away. Make sure you visit the gypsy market here on Saturday mornings. The resorts of Villamoura, Quarteria and Albufeira along with their many beaches and golf courses are all within 30 mins drive from the house. In the surrounding hills you will find many varieties of different fruits and nuts amongst the orange, peach and lemon groves. This truly is a magical location!
