About The Owner

I am from Puerto Rico and live in Old San Juan. I spent most of my time between my house in Old San Juan and the countryside which allow me to always be in beautiful natural surroundings. I am fortunate to live in this unique place within its history, colonial architecture and best of all great community. Love to share it with you!

What makes this house unique

This house is very unique as you will be able to enjoy all the colonial architecture elements of a late 1700 hundred home built by the spaniards. High ceilings with Ausubo beams, checkered floor, open kitchen with two beautiful archways to the courtyard, interior courtyard, soles truncos, and even an underground cistern underneath the patio used to collect rain water.

We had the most wonderful time in San Juan staying in the cozy house. Haydee is amazing and there for you if you have any questions. We will definitely return to stay here again!

Vacationing in a work of art!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this colonial home. The home itself was a piece of art, but the owner also has tastefully decorated it with beautiful pieces that always keep you looking. Great location. No need for a car, but if you do have one there is a parking garage not far from the house. It was only about $4 or so to park overnight. Haydee texted us about an acrobat/magic show that she thought our kids might enjoy. They did. Everything in old San Juan is in walking distance from the home. It is just as beautiful as the pictures.

Wonderful Old San Juan Experience

  • 5 of 5

Having lived in Old San Juan previously, I was looking for "the real" viejo San Juan experience for my trip back with son and family. This fit the bill perfectly...historic preservation, well maintained, nicely furnished, convenient, just what we were looking for. And Haydee was a responsive and pleasant host. Would book again on our next trip.

Living in a masterpiece

  • 5 of 5

Haydée was a wonderful host. We arrived to Old San Juan earlier than expected and she was kind enough to come back from running errands to check us in early. She texted us to let us know about a magic/acrobat show that she thought our kids would enjoy, and they loved it! The home is located just a short walk to the water. Listen to the advice from guide books about not needing a car in Old San Juan. We rented a car for the week because we stayed in Luquillo for the first part of our vacation and wanted to travel around. It was helpful for us because our kids wanted to go to the beach everyday, even after we arrived in Old San Juan. But street parking and driving on the narrow cobble stone streets can be a challenge for a visitor. Haydée was a great host and showed us where to find the cheapest parking garage that was a short 10 minute walk to the house. Coming from Chicago the parking garage was ridiculously cheap ($1.40 for the first hour and 55 cents for every hour after that). You can walk to everything from this home (farmer's market, grocery store, shops, restaurants and bars, etc.). Our kids loved that there was an open courtyard in the middle of the house. They watched in amazement as the little lizards climbed the wall and a song bird of some kind came to visit each morning at breakfast and work on a nest. We will definitely be keeping this on our list of places to come back to if we visit San Juan again. It's far enough away from the tourist/cruise ship area to not be noisy at night, yet close enough to walk to that area for some of the things you might need from a CVS or Walgreen's. The house itself is beautiful, with so much to see. It truly is a masterpiece. There are various pieces of art displayed throughout the house, even in the courtyard. There is a great collection of books if you don't bring something yourself and need a good book to read while you lounge in the hammock. Haydée, thank you for opening up your beautiful home to our family. We truly enjoyed our first visit to Puerto Rico!

A beautiful and magical gem!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is absolutely gorgeous in its old colonial style and very tasteful decor! Spacious and extremely quiet at night, equipped with anything you may need for your stay, great library with lots of travel books. The private patio at the center of the house is probably the best part of it. Your host, Haydee, lives just next door and is very sweet and prompt to help you. The location is also very convenient: you won't need a car as everything (yummy restaurants and hip bars, gorgeous sunset views of the ocean and the Morro) is walking distance. Perfect for a couple (or two) or a family. I totally recommend it!
