Guest room & private bath for single or couple
About Wendy Stokes
We are a retired couple who have lived in the area for many years. We met as lab partners at the University of Colorado and have been here ever since except for times in grad school or traveling. Tim is from from southern CO and Wendy originally from New England. We raised our 2 sons here in Jamestown (where there is a small 4-room school house for 30 kids).
Why Wendy Stokes chose Jamestown
When Jamestown experienced the devastating flood of 2013, we rebuilt our home on this beautiful site. Our old home was one of 17 structures that got washed away. We can still see and hear the creek but are out of the floodway! The sun and the views make the property very attractive. You may be as private as you like.
What makes this House unique
We built the new home using plenty of pine interior, and it has a very spacious open feeling. The guest room area can be closed for privacy, and visitors can come and go with their private entrance. The best thing are the views, overlooking the large park, and being able to access nearby walking trails so easily. The local cafe, "The Jamestown Merc", serves delicious food and allows visitors a view into the mountain folk and the community's warmth that make a Jamestown unique place. The Merc serves brunch on the weekends, and has live music and a modest dinner selection all evenings, with a sumptuous meal for Thursday night dinners. Friday is pizza night.

Wendy was a wonderful hostess. The accommodations were excellent. Views wonderful. Price affordable and fair. Would definitely go back and stay wish we could have stayed longer.
Perfect stay for a small town mountain experience
Our stay could not have been better. The town of Jamestown is quaint. We enjoyed “The Merc” and the experience of a beer and local music. The sound of a mountain stream in the bedroom was soothing. The hot tub with a view of the mountains- amazing, and Wendy thoughtfully providing breakfast for us. We will definitely stay again. A surprise? I had no idea hummingbirds were so active. 😀
This VRBO was very clean, accommodating, and comfortable. We especially loved the outdoor hot tub for relaxing in the evenings and the Merc for a fun dinner on the weekends only a few blocks away. We were surprised that so many houses were very close by and we did not have a view of the mountains as pictured. Also, there is no lock on the door connecting the guest area to the main house, as well as, no keys were used for the entrance. Each day we had to travel the windy road through the mountains to get to Boulder for food and activities. Overall, we enjoyed our stay even though it wasn't quite what we expected.
I'm very glad that overall you enjoyed your stay. In response, I would just say that
even though there is no lock on the door between the guest unit and the main house, I hope you felt that your privacy was respected. That is super-important. The reason there has to be access to the guest unit is because, daily, I deliver snacks and breakfast, as well as take out the trash. As for locking the outside door, there is a bolt that all guests are free to use when they are inside, at night for example.
And yes! the canyon road between Jamestown and Boulder is windy/curvy; it was constructed to follow along the course of James Creek and Lefthand Creek. It is about 20 minutes of pretty drive to get to Boulder.
Our location in a town of 300 people is rural but as in any village, neighboring houses are within sight. Beyond the houses - and out our front door - is access to the Rocky Mountain landscapes!
I hope you had a good drive home to conclude your adventure!
Best regards, Wendy
Perfect place in the mountains
Enjoyed this place so much! Spent the first day getting altitude acclimated and explored the trails and creeks recommended in the hosts book. Enjoyed brunch at the Merc and loved having the hot tub to use. It was an easy one hour drive to RMNP for a day of hiking. Best to go early to avoid the shuttle crowds. Having this place to return to was like coming home.... clean, comfortable and homemade treats greeted us. Enjoyed our visit with Wendy and Tim. Highly recommend this great place.
Thank you Kim for your nice review! It was great to meet you both. Safe travels! Wendy & Tim
Nice Owners, Peaceful Place
Very relaxing and nice place to stay!
Thanks, Dominick! Glad you had a good stay.
We stayed with Wendy and Tim for the first few days of our honeymoon. It was wonderful! They have great suggestions of things to do and places to go. The check in process was simple and straightforward. We felt so welcomed by them while still having our privacy. They provided us with more than we imagined.... breakfast, coffee, juice, snacks! Their property is beautiful and the drive up to Jamestown is just as gorgeous. Overall they made our first trip to Colorado together a great experience! We hope to come back next summer. Thank you Wendy and Tim!
We are located between the vibrant community of Boulder (20min) and the beautiful Rocky Mt National Park in Estes Park (50min). The pace of life is conducive to walking on trails, hanging out by streams or finding peaks to climb. The local cafe provides nightly music (except Tuesday), food, weekend brunch fare. The local 5-acre park contains a tennis court, playground, trail, & stone labyrinth. We are a community of maintained dirt roads although the roads out of town either way are paved.
