About the property

Self Contained one Bedroom Annexe midway between Salisbury and Shaftesbury

The Old Woodstore is the beautifully appointed self-contained annexe of Grade 2 listed 14th Century The White Cottage. Situated in stunning countryside in a tiny peaceful hamlet, it nevertheless is fortunate to be within close walking distance of the award winning Wiltshire gastropub, The Compasses Inn whilst at the same time being close to major tourist attractions such as Stonehenge, Wilton House, Salisbury Cathedral, Longleat, Bath, Stourhead and Gold Hill, Shaftesbury. Wonderful walks from the front door can be followed by tea by the fireside and then a top class meal at the pub. The Old Woodstore has recently been totally refurbished and offers every modern convenience from WiFi to large scale LCD TV with DVD. Underfloor heating and a Woodburning Stove complete the picture. Easily reached by motorway and mainline rail, it is under 2 hours from London and offers the perfect romantic weekend getaway or a longer stay taking in the lovely sights and views of South Wiltshire.

The Old Woodshed is a self-contained, newly refurbished annexe attached to our 14th Century thatched cottage surrounded by a pretty garden with fields beyond. Traditional meets contemporary with modern touches throughout to make your stay as comfortable and cosy as possible, including wooden floors and underfloor heating. It consists of a large, light open plan sitting/dining room with wood burner, incorporating a small kitchen area. There is a huge comfy sofa with a wall mounted, flat screen television, plenty of books and magazines. Local newspapers and maps are provided to enable you to take advantage of all that the area has to offer.

Take the spiral staircase up to the mezzanine bedroom with a stunning wet room area and rural views.

Exceptional Experience

  • 5 of 5

Oh My- Look no further for a amazing experience in the Salisbury/Tisbury area. I booked this cottage based on reviews and location to Stonehenge. It is hard to accurately describe how amazing our experience was. The owners, Rob and Soo-wonderful hosts leave nothing to chance. The Old Woodstore cottage is so well appointed and thoughtfully put together. We arrived to a warm fire in the woodstove and a pantry and fridge that had a very generous supply of staples such as eggs, bread, bacon, coffee, tea etc. The 14th century pub across the street is a real treat, giving the opportunity for foreigners to be "local". As great as the place is it is second to the area. Winding roads and miles and miles of hiking trails in the absolute most beautiful countryside imaginable. We are so grateful for the experience of being guests of Soo and Rob, amazing!

That Lucky Discovery that Makes a Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Flying by the seat of our pants on first trip to Britain, we stumbled upon this one-of-a-kind find! Despite the troubles of this website's glitches, we persevered and had an in-between 3 night stay at the Old Woodstore.

Our hosts, Soo and Rob, we convivial, informative and the kind of folks that one rarely has the good fortune to meet. They stocked us up so well that we had leftovers when we left! And we didn't shop once! We ate all 3 nights at the pub across the street, which was absolutely the best food of a 17 day trip. Even made 'honorary locals' and were turfed at closing time!

The private annex is quirky, watch your head, 'liberal loo', french press for coffee, wonderful tv, spotty wifi (you're in the country!), lovely shower, comfy bed, your own little garden amid wildflowers and smells of wood. Sheep to the rear of us, cows to the front. Fairytale thatched cottages and postcard boughs. Magic. Narrow roads and wrong turns to the right places. A guided tour in Tisbury 2000 year old church by the caretaker himself just for me. See old Wardour Castle on a rainy day. Idyllic. The whole experience was absolutely delightful.

Thank you Soo and Rob, what a pleasure it was!

So chilled.....

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely chilled time at this beautiful cottage, it was so clean, peaceful and the owners were so wonderful and couldn't of been more helpful. There's plenty of walking with stunning views and a very cute pub just a stone throw away which we visited and the food was very good too....... both working in London we found this place perfect for time out from the busy crazy life we lead, I managed to sleep until 10am when I am use to being up at 6am, so to me this was BLISS. We will definitely be going back over the winter to enjoy their cute little wood burner.... to do some more sleeping :-). Not forgetting they have a very cute doggy who welcomes you, always puts a smile on our faces :-).

Thank you both so much and see you again soon, we will be in touch to check out my birthday dates with you.

Thank you to Soo & Rob. every need thought through. They went that extra mile to cater for my food intolerances.

Such a cozy little place to relax, kick back & recharge. Big comfy bed, log burner, romatic little haven.

Pub across the way, lovely atmosphere & tasty food,we had roast leg of lamb & all the trimmings. We will be back. Thanks again

New Years at the Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My Partner and I were looking for a place away from the London New Year rush, so we decided to stay at the Old Woodstore.

This little hidden gem did just the trick, unfortunately we had rainy weather but we enjoyed staying in the cottage by the fire, cooking, relaxing and watching movies.

We went on a couple of walks around the countryside which is stunning. We also went into Salisbury, which is only a short drive away.

The cottage is cosy, beautiful and exceeded our expectation, we throughly enjoyed our stay.

Soo and Rob are lovely hosts and their dog Ruby is so sweet, we wish we could have stayed longer, as we didn't want to go back to London.

We will definitely come back and highly recommend staying at the Old Woodstore.

Thank you for our stay.

Beautiful cottage - the perfect retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage in the middle of a picturesque and quiet little hamlet. The cottage was exactly what we'd hoped for - very homely and cosy, perfect for a weekend break away. Soo was extremely helpful and welcoming on our arrival, showing us around the property and where everything was. Lovely big sofa, a great DVD collection, well equipped kitchen and yummy breakfast hamper - there was everything we needed and lots more! And the pub across the road served great food too!
