About Shaun Farrar
One of us writes books for children and young adults. The other one has spent most of his adult life protecting and serving the people of Bar Harbor. This house on Ledgelawn is where we spent a lot of happy time, celebrating the awesomeness that is Bar Harbor.
Shaun Farrar purchased this House in 2011
Why Shaun Farrar chose Bar Harbor
We bought this property because we love Bar Harbor and its quirky, outdoorsy appeal. Ledgelawn Avenue has always been a place for families. Even though Bar Harbor is so small, thousands of trick-or-treaters come to our door. On the Fourth of July, the parade stages at the ballfield and finishes on this street. This is small town America at its best. Right here. And then there's the park. You can run out the door, turn left and in less than five minutes, you are in one of the most beautiful places in the country. It's hard to beat that.
What makes this House unique
We love the front porch, the neighbors. We love the way the lilacs smell in Spring and the way the cook-outs smell in the summer. The back yard with its deck and trees just beyond the fence, make you feel secluded even though it's just a short jaunt into town. There are lots of tiny quirks in the house like an occasional old-fashioned light fixture, double ovens, and an overall light and airy feel.

Spacious and great for families
The house exceeded our expectations. Lost of space and amenities. We were welcomed with a delicious blueberry pie that made us feel right at home! Great house, would absolutely recommend!
Thanks so much for staying at our house, Nick! We're so glad you and your family had a great time!
We will be back!
We enjoyed our trip so much and will definitely be back. The house was perfect! Thank you for the lovely hospitality.
We're so glad you had a good time, Charles! We can't wait too see you again!
Great amenities, perfect location
We couldn’t have asked for anything better. It was within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor - so convenient. We were even able to walk to The trailhead for Mt Dorr North Trail and Mt Kebo. The house was clean we had everything we needed as far as amenities. We would recommend this house again.
cute house which just met our family needs
Enjoyed the location, layout, and all amenities of our house.
We will be back!!
This is the third time we have stayed in this wonderful house, and we will be back next year! Everything is clean and comfortable, and we love the convenient location. You can walk into town, or into Acadia National Park. We stock the frig with lunch items and pack our lunch each day. It is wonderful to eat lunch inside the park (Sand Beach, Echo Lake, Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain, Wonderland, Bass Harbor light, Little Long Pond). Plenty of clean, fluffy towels and also beach towels! Our week here always seems to fly by! And, plenty of books to read -- perfect for us "book nerds!"
A warm house in the quiet neighborhood of downtown Bar Harbor
This home fitted our family of five perfectly. It's a blessing that this house is located in a quiet neighborhood, and yet all the shops and restaurants are within few minutes of walk. There's also a children playground, a skate park and a large lawn are just around the corner.
We enjoyed every minute of our vacation in Bar Harbor, and it was not possible without a comfortable home such as this one.
We're at the end of Ledgelawn Ave, and it's a straight shot right (five minute walk) to the Park Loop Road and Acadia National Park. The playground, the YMCA and the ballfield with a basketball court is within a three-minute walk. You can see the mountains from the upstairs windows. Walking to the village of Bar Harbor takes less than five minutes. The ocean. The mountains. The town. You can beat it!
This is the park's big anniversary! Come enjoy it!
