About George (Dave) and Janet Davison
CASA de las OLAS INFORMATION Welcome to our Mexican home. We hope that you enjoy your stay in our part-time home and ask that you treat it as you would your own. Enjoy !! Casa de las Olas history -- After visiting Isla for several years, property became available in the south end. In 1999 we purchased our lot. The main house was finished in 2002 and ready for move in without power. That’s right, the first two years there were no poles along the street. Generator, my, it was noisy. We few home owners established a home association and worked with the electric company to get electricity (of which we had to pay significant dollars). In 2004 we added the Mexican Casita so we would have more room for visiting family. 2005 was a big year with our last major hurricane, WILMA. We woke up and the house was still here, so, OK," let’s put in a pool". In 2006 we were swimming. In 2012 we remodeled the master bedroom and bath with a heavy sliding door for our privacy when family and friends arrive. So here we are in 2016, I am 74, and dare not give my wife’s age, renting to you as we spend a little more time with family in the USA. So, please, enjoy our casa for us.
George (Dave) and Janet Davison purchased this House in 2000
Why George (Dave) and Janet Davison chose Isla Mujeres
When we bought the property, there was only one house on our Oceanside. It was unbelievable: the many colors of blue water, the cooling breezes, and island wildlife. Paradise!!! YES... Slowly others have joined us, buying property and adding their dream house. Now we have what we dreamed of before year 2000, but with great neighbors and their guests.
What makes this House unique
Living next to the sea and enjoying a laid back life. In addition, a short ride away you have the white sand world famous north beach, a centro district with touristy stores and many many fabulous restaurants.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
As described. Great communication. Would stay again.
Thank you for the 5 star review. It was great having you and Casa de Las Olas would welcome your return. Please have a wonderful summer.

Casa de las Olas is simply stunning. This home has a truly unique Mexican vibe, which we really enjoyed. With all the beautiful private outdoor spaces (pool, rooftop palapa, porch, atrium, etc) it’s like having your own private resort. The biggest decision will be where to spend the day. I highly recommend the hammock by the pool.
Being on the south end, the location is perfect for peace and quiet. But the size of the island makes everything a quick golf cart ride away. We enjoyed exploring the colonias and trying the many restaurants in the area.
The house is very clean and stocked with anything you could need for a fantastic vacation. The “snacks and breakfast stuff” provided was very much appreciated and far more than we expected.
David & Janet and the folks at Capi were great to deal with and responded very quickly.
Stop looking and book Casa de las Olas! You’ll be glad you did. We’ll be back!
My adult son & daughter & I visited Ilsa Mujeres for the first time and felt like we were in Paradise at Casa de las Olas! It was absolutely like a dream — the location, location, location!! And of course, the house, the pool, and everything about this property was perfect! We were so grateful for Dave & Janet’s recommendations for airport transport from Cancun to the ferry to Isla, golf cart rental for the week, and restaurants. And what an incredible treat to open the fridge to find snacks & breakfast food that ended up lasting us the entire 5 days we were there. The furnishings were beautiful and it really felt like home. It was quite hot mid-May (and being from South Carolina, we’re used to hot & humid) & it was pretty uncomfortable everywhere we went on Isla —except by the pool or on the rooftop palapa at Casa de las Olas. We kept the screens open as much as we could but were so happy the bedrooms were all air conditioned for nighttime! I was glad I brought a sleep mask since the sun comes up right in the master window through the white curtains —hard to complain since it’s such a beautiful view over the water. I did much research before deciding on Casa de las Olas and I can verify there was nothing else like it anywhere —all the houses nearby were all modern looking, as if they were built for tourists, with little shade anywhere. The layout of this house, with the porch, the pool, and the palapa, really seemed to be carefully placed with a family in mind and definitely take into account those of us who can’t afford to be sun-baked. It was hard to leave for the day, but we did manage to do a golf cart food tour with Cultura Crusiers and snorkeling with Captain Tony. We also visited Ponte Sur & the beach down the street, but otherwise we spent lazy days at the pool or on the rooftop palapa, just enjoying the view, and planning where we would go for our next wonderful meal! Top picks: Rosa Sirenas’ Rooftop restaurant, Madera Food& Art right down the street, Slow Down snack bar & Fuego de Mar. I would love to come back to Isla again & wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else! Thank you, thank you, Dave & Janet for the experience of a lifetime!
There are perfect guest and there are perfect guest. You guys were perfect and we would be honored if you return. You asked a bunch of questions before you arrived and it was fun for us to respond. Thank you for the wonderful review . It helps people when they are making a choice. Hope to welcome you again and have a great S.Carolina summer.

Perfect Island Home with Old World Charm
This is an authentic home with old Mexican hacienda charm. This home offers space, comfort and a view not to be forgotten. The home has a beautiful courtyard with garden as well as an atrium inside the home. The home is settled on the south end of the island on the caribe side so you will be the first to see the sunrise and there is alway a breeze. What was particulary special is the private path to take a walk on behind the home. The home fit my family of five adults and one child. The bedrooms have a/c as well as this charming casita on the premises. The home was perfect for our needs. The homeowners were always available for my questions and the property manager was more than accommodating. We have been visiting Isla Mujeres since 2001 and have witnessed the influx of buildings which has declined the islands natural beauty. It was really nice to be able to stay in a home which has that authentic feeling. This home is located away from the town but near shopping and dinning, We would stay in the home again.
Thank you for taking your time to be kind enough to give us a unique and wonderful rating. It's nice to know that you appreciated the Casa de las Olas' team.
Our house is a little different than the new modern homes and those under construction. When we built 20 odd years ago, we made a family decision that this is Mexico, so build a Mexican style home, listen to some unique Mexican music, taste the authentic Mexican foods and just enjoy Mexico.
We welcome you and your wonderful family in the future, what wonderful guests you all are.
Wonderful Place to vacation
The house was great, could not have found any better for our group.Very clean and spacious. It was well stocked with everything we needed and the management team was prompt and helpful with anything else we needed. 6 of us went together and there was lots of room for us all to be together or by ourselves if we wanted to to be. We used the pool every day and liked the fact that it was more private than most but still a great view of the ocean. The landscaping and Palm trees in courtyard were beautiful, gave you the tropical feel you want every moment. We used the front porch every night to end our day, great place to have a cocktail, listen to the waves and watch the cruise ships go by. We had a wonderful trip, plan to do it again.
Thanks Cindy for enjoying Casa de las Olas and the island plus the wonderful review that you left on the Homeaway site. There are many things to enjoy a our Isla home and your review really helps to highlite some of them. We are fortunate to have a great property manager and Angel, who does the pool and gardens. Our turn now to go down and enjoy. Again, thanks and we look forward to your return, an all-star guest.
