About the property

3 bed sleeps 5 in lovely rural setting, 15 mins to beaches and attractions

Converted in 2000 from an old Cornish stone farm building, The Old Dairy stands in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just 200 yards from the picturesque Camel Estuary at Old Town Cove. Just over a mile by foot (or bike) from the delightful harbour town of Padstow and fifteen minutes by car from a selection of fantastic beaches. Set in a rural location the house benefits from being in a development of six similar homes all converted from the original Lower Halwyn Farm outbuildings. There is a cosy living room with Freeview/DVD and a kitchen/diner (with gas hob, oven, microwave, washer/dryer and dishwasher) on the ground floor and 3 light and airy bedrooms ,1 king, 2 twins (with rural views) and a shower room upstairs. Outside there ia a patio area to the rear of the property with table and chairs and BBQ plus a separate level lawned garden with outstanding and uninterrupted views over the estuary and the Camel Trail below. Allocated parking space. GCH, utilities and linen hire incl.

Fab Cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

A very welcoming, and homely cottage which is set in the most beautiful location. It is exceptionally well equipped, with almost everything you could wish for. The cottage is very clean and well laid out, making it a perfect venue for families. The views from the garden are stunning, where many hours could be spent overlooking the camel estuary, watching the tide come and go. The camel trail - perfect for walkers, buggy pushers and of course cyclists, is a short walk from the cottage, which then (after a brisk 20 min walk) takes you straight in the beautiful town of Padstow. We would recommend this cottage to many.

prefect holiday home

  • 5 of 5

It really is home from home very cosy and comfortable, well equipped, clean and warm. Wonderful walk a long the Camel trail into Padstow looking out onto the estuary even in the winter very beautiful, the bus is at the end to catch into Wadebridge or Newquay which we did for walks a long the coastal path back to Padstow on 3 days, then there is the Christmas Festival a real must wonderful experience and something going on differently for 4 days also lots of pubs and restaurants to visit and everyone so very friendly.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage with many added extras that make for a relaxing holiday. It took us about 45 minutes to walk into the heart of Padstow and really enjoyed the walk. Many fantastic surfing beaches nearby and seeing dolphins really made our holiday. Eden Project a worthwhile day trip and not too far away. Cycling the other way to Bodmin was nice and not too busy either. We are now confirmed cider drinkers after consuming the welcoming Rattler's!!

Owner's Response: It is always great to hear that our guests have had a good holiday at The Old Dairy. The walk along the Camel Trail to the heart of Padstow has some fantastic view of the town, Rock and the estuary mouth. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is much appreciated.

Perfect for a dad & 2 older teenagers

  • 5 of 5

Things we really liked:-

- Clean & tidy on arrival & exactly as described in brochure (though we did make it into Padstow in 9 minutes on the bikes)

- Terraced BBQ area at the rear for cleaning beach gear and servicing bikes

- Well fitted and practical kitchen with stable door to let the morning sun in over breakfast

- Outside table and chairs

- The remote location and views

Things to be aware of:-

- If you are there to cycle, you will either start or end your day with a nice little hill (depending on whether you are road cycling or using the Camel trail)

- There is nowhere outsie to store bikes totally out of sight and padlocked to the building (we ended up storing the more expensive bikes inside the house)

Overall, a fantastic holiday for the 3 of us and we will definitely consider booking again either as a summer holiday or perhaps shorter breaks at other times of year.

Owner's Response: Thank you - we really appreciate your comments. Our children (now 10 & 8) have grown up on that hill. Years back it felt like we would always get off and push - now we can all stay on to the top, we look out for the shed roof and we know we've made it! I also like to think it helps balance out the cream tea that usually follows the ride home ;-). I'm pleased the bike storage didn't put you off a return visit.

Idyllic rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most idyllic cottages we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The location is truely beautiful!!! We felt immediately at home as soon as we got there. The Old Dairy provides the perfect family holiday accommodation with all the essential washing facilities. The garden is simply stunning with the most beautiful view over the Camel Estuary and adjoining farmland. The only problem is that once you have experienced a holiday in this cottage you don't want to leave!!!! We can't wait to go back now

Lovely Cottage in a Super Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a super October Half Term week in the Old Dairy. The cottage is lovely, airy and clean. Well equipped Kitchen, Large Lounge and 3 lovely bedrooms. The central heating kept the cottage toasty during the cold October nights. We all stayed cosy and warm.

Only 5 mins from the Camel Trail, on which you can walk or cycle to Padstow (about 40 mins on foot), and well worth the effort for the views and the experience.

ideally situated for exploring North and Mid Cornwall - it was less than 20 miles to the Eden Project which is near the opposite coast !!

Wifi would be a welcome addition, as its really useful for planning days out and finding places to eat out etc. We booked tickets for the Eden Project online and saved 15% using our mobiles, but it would have been a lot easier via wifi.

Highly recommended for people who have kids, or like cycling and walking.

We loved the cottage and the location and hope to go back soon.

The Old Dairy is in a quiet and peaceful location 200 yards from the Camel Trail, the beautiful disused railway line along the Camel River to Padstow and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. The estuary is the home to an abundance of wildlife and there are small beaches and coves to explore along its length. Padstow itself is a scenic fishing port made popular recently by Rick Stein and his investment in the town. There are a range of great places to eat/drink and shop in the town and over the water in Rock.

Within 15 minutes drive are a whole host of beaches, cliff walking routes and local attractions. The Eden project is 30 minutes by car, the Lost Gardens of Heligan 45 minutes, Creally's Cornwall Adventure Park is only 10 minutes away. There are lots of activities in Newquay all about 20 minutes away, including Watergate Bay (and Fifteen Cornwall!) and Fistral Beach.

This part of the North Cornwall coast has to be heaven to all water/beach/surf/cycling/walking/nature loving enthusiasts.

Other Activities: bird watching
