About Don Pierce-Owner/Jaune' Pierce-Inquiries/Administrator
We are Don Pierce and Linda Harris. We both retired to Saint Marys from Atlanta, GA where Don owns a high-end Antique business, now being run by his son, and Linda retired from a Commercial Real Estate brokerage firm. After seeing the 'Southern Living Magazine' article 'There's something about Saint Marys', in 2006, we both came South for a visit, loved what we saw and immediately purchased property for our home. Our home was built in 2007 and the rest is 'history' -- we feel in love with the town and people and it now 'feels like home'. Having our own home locally allows us to oversee the maintenance and rental of the property and to get to become personally acquainted with our guests!

Why Don Pierce-Owner/Jaune' Pierce-Inquiries/Administrator chose Saint Marys
Saint Mary is our home and is such a special place, we love being able to share it with others and to provide visitors an opportunity to experience the Village and River front of Saint Marys!
What makes this Cottage unique
Saint Marys offers 'southern hospitality' at its best! 'The locals' are warm, inviting, and friendly and it is not uncommon for us to include guests in social gatherings. If you visit Saint Marys, you will also fall in love with it and that is exactly how many of our locals decided to make Saint Marys their home. A visiting friend told us 'I never thought I would want to leave Atlanta and my family and children, but I'm ready to call my boss and tell him I'm not coming back'!

A Wonderful Little Getaway!
We had a great quiet getaway in this adorable cottage! Don was a wonderful host! It has beautiful views and very relaxing! Just what we needed! And we were able to take our little dog Maggie with us! We would definitely return here for another visit!
Dear Jim and Diane,
Thank you for your kind review. You were indeed delightful guests and we are happy that you enjoyed our cozy cottage and the stunning views. We are happy to have accommodated your dog Maggie as well. Glad you had a lovely time and hope you return soon!
Wind down and enjoy the peace in a cottage with character.
In need of somewhere to relax after a busy a year we spotted this cottage, we just had to stay as it had loads of character, and matched our idea of the type of places we like to stay. We wanted to spend some time in GA before moving south to central Florida for our vacation.
The Commissary provided this in bucket fulls, we totally chilled out, enjoying the peace and quiet, looking out over the marches to the St Mary's river, strolling along the waterfront, and sitting in the swing seats in the park watching the world go slowly by.
There is some construction work going on at the waterfront, it will significantly improve the areas once it has finished, but it did not cause any problems, we just had to navigate round the workers and the areas being updated.
A trip to Woodbine for the Crawfish Festival was fitted in, we watched the Parade, visited the craft stalls, listened to some enjoyable music (The Pepper Shakers had our feet tapping).
We also visited many of the shops in St Mary's, and spotted some abstract canvas hangings, they now hang over the patio doors of our Florida vacation home!
Don was a perfect host, and I can only recommend that you visit the Commissary Cottage, and chill. We will look forward to another visit on due course.
Our English blood did have an appeal to the bugs, make sure you have some spray if walking around about dusk time.

Thank you for your glowing review. You captured the beauty and essence of the cottage, it's setting and the quaintness of historic St. Marys. We are looking forward to your return. Thank you for being delightful guests!
Georgia on my mind
This cottage is exactly as described by Don and all the reviews, maybe even better. Drawbacks maybe to quiet and those damn bunnies in the backyard.
Seriously if your looking for a sweet quiet place convenient to many places with a very comfortable bed. I’d highly recommend this offering. Don was there with a greeting and info about the area. He was always willing to chat and talk about St. Mary’s. A complete kitchen so you could cook if you desired. A couple of Huffy bikes to ride around town, which we did.
We had never been to Georgia before and found this to be a good experience.
Ha ha! Love those bunnies! Thank you for your kind review and we are so glad you enjoyed the bikes. Riding in the historic district and down by the river is a treat indeed.
We look forward to having you stay with us again in the future.
Perfect get away
My wife and I spent a week here for vacation, clean, quiet and comfortable. Don was a gracious host. The cottage is close to everything, we went to a different spot every day, Crooked River, Cumberland, Fernandina Beach. The best part of the vacation though was sitting on the deck in the morning drinking a cup of coffee and having a glass of wine in the evening enjoying the surroundings. Great place, we will be back. Thanks for having us! Kenny and Kay
Rang in the New Year in Peace
My husband and I, along with our pup, stayed at the Commissary cottage over the New Year holiday. The cottage is very clean and decorated to perfection. It was easy to slide into island time at this peaceful cottage. Each morning we would watch the sunrise from the comfort of our bed. Comfy bed, couch, soft sheets and blankets, fluffy towels. The kitchen is well stocked with the essential dishes and cookware. Unfortunately, we had to skip our planned visit to Cumberland Island due to the shutdown, but we found many other places to explore. (Fort Clinch, Crooked State Park, Amelia Island, and Fernandina.) We brought our bikes, but there are two nice bikes provided to borrow. St. Mary's is very bikeable and walkable. On New Year's Eve we watched the Amelia fireworks from our front porch. We were lucky to have a beautiful clear evening.
Perfect weekend! Perfect place!
The property was beautiful and quite comfortable!
The quaint town with our friendly 'locals', is steeped in history and is the second oldest city in America. It is 'The Gateway' to Cumberland Island, a US National Seashore park notably known as the wedding site of John F. Kennedy, Jr.'s wedding location, and for its Wild Horses that roam the Island. Ferries leave/return twice daily from the water front in Saint Marys. The waterways of Saint Marys offer great boating, canoeing, and fishing and we have no traffic lights or traffic jams!
Saint Marys is centrally located between Savannah, GA (90 Miles to our North) and Jacksonville, FL (20 miles south), and the oldest city in the US, Saint Augustine, FL (81 miles south) as well as all the coastal cities along the I-95 corridor from Tybee Island, Sea Island, St. Simons Island, and Jekyll Island, GA to our north; to Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Jacksonville Beach, Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach, FL south. Orlando, FL, home to Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studio Theme parks, is also an easy 3 hour drive from Saint Marys!
Saint Marys is host to several festivals and events throughout the year including our Rock Shrimp Festival; Hay Days with Town Scarecrow Stroll and 'Ghost Story Tours'; Christmas white Lighting, Merchants Open House and Tour of Homes; Mardi Gras Festival and Ball, and was a featured city in 'Lovetown USA' series, aired on OWN - Oprah Winfrey Network.
