Alex Hernandez purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Alex Hernandez chose Alto
Ruidoso is a great getaway in the summer to escape the heat and to hike in the cool mountains. In the winter Ski Apache is only 10 miles away and offers a great place to mountain bike and zip line in the summer. You will be blown away by the views from the deck and there is also a common area that you can use with a fire pit and additional grills. There are two bathrooms in the cabin along with Direct TV. The Village of Ruidoso is 10 minutes away and offers unique shops and restaurants.
What makes this Cabin unique
You will be far enough away from the lights of the town to feel like you are secluded but close enough to town for last minute shopping. The hot tub is a great way to spend your evening under the stars.
Minimum age of primary renter:25
Please empty all trash cans and take to dumpster out front of property below the office. Place all used towels and sheets in bathroom on the floor.
Make sure AC unit is set to 75 in summer and 55 in winter and hot tub is covered. Thank you so much.

Very quiet and cozy
The cabin is away from the bustle of life, quiet. The hot tub is amazing for coffee and star gazing.

This place is extraordinarily small - living room and master bedroom are each 6'-6" x 10' with a 6'-6" ceiling height. Bedrooms upstairs via a ladder have a maximum 3' ceiling height (you will still hit your head on your hands and knees). The only storage for clothes is a small cabinet partially blocked by the bed. Freezer has not been wiped out in several years, pillows in the living room were covered in hair and a white substance, and the outdoor picnic table was rotted and could not be used. Several electrical outlets in the kitchen were not operable, both showers barely drained and there were no outside operable lights. The road up to the cabin is extraordinarily steep, is mud, and has numerous holes or gullies that will damage your car if your wheels find their path. The sign at the bottom of the hill states "Travel at your own risk - wrecker not on duty". Though of no consequence, one example says it all - the ice tray was broke in two and individual ice cells that had holes were marked "do not fill".
This place may be suitable for ski bums trying to find a place to "crash", but if you are an adult - look elsewhere. In 40 years of travel, this place was the worst.
Nice Location, Terrible Driveway
Property owner was responsive and worked with us on our dissatisfaction but, that being said, there are quite a few issues here. First the path to cabin cannot be called a driveway. It is very steep, loose dirt and gravel, with deep holes. Four wheel drive would be suggested but all wheel drive might work. Our half ton 2 wheel drive pickup made the ascent but with much difficulty and peril. Go fast as the neighbor suggested.
Second the cabin is cozy and efficient but needs some basic repairs, a little money and time would take care of these. Furnishings are adequate but dated, chief complaint was uncomfortable mattress in master. Not good for bad back and only bed on ground floor. I would have loved this place in my youth but not so much in my latter years.
Once again, the owner was super accommodating and refunded our money for the remainder of stay not used, a very nice gesture not required of him, it has a beautiful view and wind through the pines is certainly a peaceful sound. Just wasn’t right for us.
Great rustic style cabin with satellite TV
The cabin is great, had cooking ware, dishes etc. The large porch with the large gas grill is great with a nice view off the back. If you walk/climb up the hill a little ways behind the property there is an incredible view of the mountain range. If you’re looking for a small cabin in the mountains for a get away, it’s ideal. We’d certainly stay again.
Rustic and cozy but very efficient and everything worked. Hot tub and views are nice. Light hiking n
Very nice place. Efficient use of space. Great base of operations for hiking in the area.
