Raystown Lake is a popular waterway in south central Pennsylvania. The 29 mile long lake and surrounding area are owned in large part by the federal government with several state-owned parks and forests close by. It is a wonderful area to spend a family vacation with great hiking, hunting, boating, swimming, fishing, and bird watching. Other popular attractions include caverns, railroading, horse-back riding, lake cruises, boat rentals just to mention a few. For golfers, Huntingdon Country Club offers a public golf course about 4 miles north of us. Volunteers have recently created the Allegrippis Trail which is popular with biking enthusiasts. Fishing tournaments frequent the area and Barbecue at the Beach is held in September. During your stay, you may be blessed to see a bear swimming across the lake or a bald eagle returning to its nest.

The cabin is also only 10 minutes drive from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and about 45 minutes drive to Penn State University main campus in State College, PA

About Linda White

With an eye to invest in rental property during the late 1990's, a broker led us to our lovely cabin property. We fell instantly in love with the property and made an offer to purchase right away. Although we were delayed in closing by paperwork on the seller's side, we began renting them even before we officially owned them! Thus began our real estate investing and my choice to become a licensed real estate agent. If you are leaning in that direction, I would gladly share my experience with you.

Linda White purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Linda White chose Huntingdon

We have made many improvements since 1998, keeping the rustic charm but making the cabin more comfortable for our guests. The cabin is semi-private with natural vegetation surrounding it. A relaxing area awaits with a picnic table, campfire ring and cast-iron charcoal grill. While we are not set up to host large numbers of people for meals, etc. there are many picnic areas and pavilions nearby which can be secured for just such an event. These areas may be reserved by calling the US Army Corps of Engineers office.

What makes this cabin unique

Awaken to birds singing in the morning. If you rise early enough, you may see the deer trek down off the hill toward the creek (a deer run goes right across our property...make sure your eyes are guest was walking her dog and startled a deer right behind her cabin!) Rock and roll to your hearts delight on the lake or the trails, then return to your cabin and grill your favorite meal. Relax by the campfire, enjoy your beverage and just chill.

Cabin was great we had our boat and could drive right around it. One thing is at bushes could be trimmed back a bit. Wonderful time and will return.

Owner's Response: Kerrie, thanks for staying with us. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. The rain has been a real challenge this summer. We feel badly for guests who didn't get as much sunshine as usual. The rain has made our trees and bushes pretty dense. Thanks for the reminder to take back the driveway!

We had a great time while at the cabin. Some small details that need to be fixed, finished, or possibly just cleaned up would help in general .

quick long weekend trip for fishing at raystown

  • 4 of 5

This cabin is about 8 minutes away from fishing at Raystown lake, this is the reason we rented it. It is in a somewhat secluded area and a bit rustic but a fine place to stay for piece and quiet. The cabin had everything we needed and was easy to come and go from for our fishing trips. Full size working fridge was nice. We did not use the fire pit due to time and weather but its there if you want to use it along with a charcoal grill outside. Has lots of tv for rainy days and only a standing shower if that matters to you. It is in a very wooded area with a bit of a rocky drive way but that wasn't a problem for us and we did not have 4wheel drive. We didn't have much contact with Linda but the little bit we did she was very responsive. Is a little hard to find first time but with verbal directions she gives is much better then the GPS. Would stay again to enjoy raystown lake.

Was a real nice cabin. Totally enjoyed ourselves. Can’t wait to go again

Was a great time at the cabin. Should have stayed longer. Nice porch to have a great porch night while grilling and just having a good time. Main reason for the stay was the proximity to Raystown Lake. 5 minute ride to a nice quite spot. Again can’t wait to do it again

We want to rent more than one cabin in the future for the whole family, it was so peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed not hearing anything but the birds singing. The lake is a short drive from the cabin so it seemed liked two vacations in one. Defiantly will be back
