Tilley's Cottage has lots of character and is warm and cosy even if the weather is not kind but you are in the perfect location to tumble out of the door and buy whatever you fancy, walk around the historical trail, swim in the summer just over the road or head out to a selection of places to eat really good food. If you do decide to go further afield Moretonhampstead is known as the gateway to the Moor so you can just leave the front door, turn left and don't stop...Dartmoor is right there!
The cottage is absolutely fantastic and really homely. We didn't want to leave!! The little extras really make a difference and it is really clear that you think of your tenants and what would make the stay enjoyable. We would deffinately be recommending this cottage to our friends.
Had a fabulous stay at Tilleys cottage. Will definitely be returning.
Lovely quant cottage makes you feel relaxed and part of the village very friendly locals and good food nearby
A very well equipped cottage. Good quality linen and towels and the kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with tin foil etc. The cream tea left for us on arrival was a nice touch.
The butchers/ deli next door has some lovely food, pies takeaway etc. The large supermarket opposite has everything you need. The downside of this is that It can be a little noisy as people are constantly stopping outside to go to the shops and early morning deliveries are made.
If you are tall and aren't used to low beams be prepared for a few sore heads!
The property is a cosy cottage in the town of Mortonhampstead with easy access to Dartmoor and the surrounding area. The cottage is on the road and therefore there is noise from the road and deliveries to local shops but as long as you're an early riser this isn't much of a problem. There is no parking possible on the road, other than for 30 minutes, but a car park is nearby, costs around £3 per day. The property sleeps 6 but is probably more suited to 4 adults, having 6 adults felt a little squashed and tricky to all fit on the sofa at the same time. The wood-burner was a nice feature and the open-plan design enabled us to all be together even when the cooking was being done.
The common areas were spacious for our party of six adults. We could have used a few more kitchen towels and bath towels but we were very satisfied with our accommodations. We easily settled into the cozy and inviting decor. Recommend to those who desire location in heart of Dartmoor.
We had a lovely week in August at the cottage. My husband, two teenagers and myself were very happy with the cottage. It was clean and tidy with everything you could need for a stay including cleaning products, dishwasher tabs, towels, books to read and games to play. The cottage is on the main road but we did not find it too noisy at night as there is very little traffic. Everything is convenient, with a co-op and butchers a few paces away and two really good pubs with fabulous food just a few yards up the road. The people in the village were really friendly and helpful too. Overall our stay was fabulous and we would think about visiting such a beautiful area and great accommodation again in the future. Also Nikki was really helpful in her communication before our stay so we knew exactly what to expect.
