Why Ashley Gebhard Rental Agent chose Cherry Log

We visited Blue Ridge in December 2015 and were drawn to the serenity and tranquility of the mountains and the outdoor activities. The area is a dream come true for those seeking outdoor adventures or to leave the fast paced life we've become accustomed to. This is a location where you can enjoy the little moments in life while creating a lifetime of memories!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We spent an entire month in this absolutely marvelous home! It far exceeded our expectations; it's much larger than the pictures depict, wonderfully cozily furnished and the kitchen was totally appointed with everything we needed by way of dishes, cook ware, bake ware, etc. The view of the mountains was simply spectacular both from the many windows in the vaulted living room and from both decks! We spent our mornings enjoying coffee on the main deck while listening to the birds and the wind in the trees, and our evenings sipping cocktails watching the sun go down over the mountains and the fireflies come out with the moon. We were lucky enough to enjoy the wonderful outdoor fire place a couple of times (we were there mid June to mid July). The gas grill was put to good use, as was the pool table and hot tub! The house was spotless when we arrived and it was easy to maintain during our month long stay...sure enjoyed having a nice washer and dryer, too! We hiked a multitude of beautiful trails to all kinds of waterfalls within a relatively short distance from the house. Brasstown Bald via the Richard Russel Scenic Highway and over to Ana Ruby Falls is a must see. Do yourself a favor and skip Helen...way too touristy! Downtown Blue Ridge offers a variety of lovely shops and restaurants. As an added bonus, be sure to go the nearby Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, at the intersection where you turn to get to Falling Rock. It's right on the river and the food and service is some of the best we've had anywhere. Also, go tubing at the Toccoa River Campgrounds! We practically had the river to ourselves! Don't miss out on whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River in Ducktown, Tenn. with the Ocoee Rafting Company...ask for Jeffrey to be your guide! Last but not least, our host Albert could not have been more attentive to ensuring that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay...before, during and after! We whole heartedly recommend staying at Falling Rock Lodge, whether for a weekend or a month!~Lesley & Gary

Nice home and view, but under furnished.

  • 2 of 5

The good. This is a nice home with plenty of space for 6 people. It has 3 large bedrooms and a good pool table on lower level. The view is good and it is in a quiet, remote area. It has a spacious covered outside seating area along porch and rockers.

The not-so-good. Your first impression of the home may not be the best as it is lacking in exterior landscaping, especially when being compared to neighboring homes. There are dead trees, one still standing and one leaning against another tree, that need to be removed. Once inside, we were greeted with a full dish washer and then discovered the dishes were not properly cleaned due to a malfunction. The management co. stated the cleaning service just “forgot.” As nice as the home is, it feels as if it is under furnished, especially compared to other mountain or lake homes I have rented. Examples- Not enough seating in the family area for all guests (there were 6 of us). None (0) of the bedrooms have dressers for your clothes. There were only 4 wash cloths in the entire home which prompted an unplanned trip to the nearest (not so near) store the following morning. I was offered $10 for the trip, but I politely declined. The gas grill burners were in bad shape which made it difficult to cook our food evenly. On our 2nd night, the grill ran out of gas. After looking the house over, I did locate another tank, however it was locked in a larger container with no key available. The mgt. co. did send someone over within 45 minutes with a full replacement tank. The icing on the cake occurred a few days later when I was told the initial empty tank was actually full and I had not opened the valve all the way. Seriously?? Sorry, but try again. Considering I can easily determine a full tank from an empty one, maybe….just maybe.. after we left the property someone took the wrong tank, the full one, to get filled.

After one thing followed by another and another, the mgt. co. offered us a later check-out time. Once again, I politely declined as we had made plans based on the early 10:00 am departure.

I am fully aware no one is perfect, but a lot seems to be going on with this property. The mgt. co. stated they were going to contact the owner concerning our stay. 9 days have passed now and no response. I will also be passing on the future stay discount that was offered.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. As you can see I tried to fix every concern right away. I am very sorry for the oversite of the cleaning staff forgetting to unload the dishwasher. If you read all the other high star reviews this was a isolated incident. Other than that the property was perfectly cleaned. I offered to have someone bring wash clothes up the next morning in which my offer was declined. I offered to pay for the washcloths and the trip fee too, which was also declined. I had given this customer a large last minute discount. In addition I offered early check in and late checkout. I believe the propane was user error however we also had someone in route within 15 minutes of notification. As far as the guest's personal thoughts on decor and landscaping, if you view the photos they represent what you will see upon arrival. Clean, clutter free, nice decor and breathtaking beautiful views of the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains!

Great Place with Steep Drive Way

  • 4 of 5

Wished I could give it a 5 but gave a 4 because of the Wifi and cable issues and the very steep driveway. I got stuck in the mud one day trying to get out.

Everything else was amazing!! The cabin was clean, well stocked. The customer service (Ashley) was a rock star!! She was very responsive from the moment we booked until we got our deposit back.

I would highly recommend this place for a quiet mountain getaway. Make sure you visit Southern Charm restaurant in nearby Blue Ridge and the awesome movie theater in Ellijay.

Loved it!!!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was absolutely amazing only issue I'd say was the massive amounts of lady bugs inside the cabin, they don't completely bother you however are a bit overwhelming. The water pressure in the kitchen was really low and takes forever when trying to run water to wash dishes. All in all a beautiful cabin and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves would definitely rent again!

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay. Very nice cabin. Only problem was getting up the drive . Fortunately we have 4 wheel drive in the truck. the only way we could figure out to get our family up here was to pull into the small extension at the end of the road and back the cars up the drive. But it worked.
