A wonderful minibreak
Took the family up for a surprise birthday party. The whole cottage was warm and clean on arrival and everyone had a very comfortable stay. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with utensils and ovenware - it felt like stepping into a home. Beds all soft and everybody slept well. Lots of useful info on local activities and the free spa passes were a treat. Excellent communication by the owner. We all hope to go back again one day.
Lovely, well equipped cottage.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The cottage was clean, well equipped and a good size. The beds were very comfortable with warm duvets and quality bed linen. The provision of good quality towels was a bonus! Although the heating worked well, there were times when it was a little cold but we found four electric heaters which quickly warmed the place up. The driveway is a little narrow and turning a large vehicle around (by the cottage) could be a little tight!
The location is ideal for exploring the southern lakes and you don’t have to travel far to find interesting things to do and good places to eat.
I would definitely recommend this cottage!
Awesome! A home from home
We were mightily impressed with Beech Lea. Location was amazing. It was off the road and secluded but surprisingly easy to find. Especially after such a long drive with 2 small children. The owner (Alison) gave us a wonderfully comprehensive set of instructions which definitely helped with the above. Upon arrival everything was exactly as we'd hoped. The place was clean and the kitchen well-stocked with every utensil you need to get cracking with dinner. Absolutely everything you need was there. So much so, we felt at home on arrival. The beds and bedding were really comfortable, the lounge was super-cozy. The cottage is surprisingly much bigger inside than it looks on the outside. It was cold so we didn't sit outside but the garden area was lovely too.
We used the Spa facilities at the Swan Inn which were reimbursed by the owner! It was literally a one minute walk to the Aquarium (which was better than I thought it would be) and the ferry (only 40 mins to Bowness).
We already want to go back and will definitely be doing so! Thanks again for such a lovely cottage.
Cosy and spacious place so close to Lake Windermere
Beech Lea has everything needed for a short stay. It is spacious enough to sleep six so a family of four was comfortable with room to swing metaphorical cats in.
Well equipped kitchen and the most detailed notes ever that were so useful, including good places to eat and and various walks too. Heating and hot-water all tip-top.
Only complaint is that the mattress on the double-bed is obviously old and the springs are wearing through and making it uncomfortable.

Thanks for your lovely review. Great to hear you enjoyed the cottage & the location so much. Sorry to hear you were less happy with the mattress, it was actually less than a year old but we were disappointed with it, and have just replaced with Which Best Buy Silentnight mattress, so we hope to welcome you again and get the 5 star :). Thanks Alison
Good location and nice cottage
Well located with most facilities at the cottage or accessed nearby (hotel leisure facilities).
Great location, comfortable little cottage
Family of 5 enjoyed a lovely half term break, glorious weather and fantastic scenery
We are in Lakeside, a lovely small village on the unspoilt south westerly shores of Lake Windermere. Fantastic Lakeside Hotel (2 minute walk) has great pub area and 2 super restaurants. Lakeside is also home to the Aquarium, steamer pier, steam train. Stott Park Bobbin Mill 5 minute walk. Great walks from the door, including beautiful High and Low Dams. Newby Bridge with the super Swan Inn just 1 mile (we provide complimentary spa pass for the Swan so guests can use their pool, gym, jacuzzi etc). Beautiful scenic drive up the western shores to Esthwaite Water and on to Hawkshead. We love the Tower Bank Arms at Near Sawrey, next to Beatrix Potter's house. Equally suitable for a real 'get away from it all' holiday or activity-packed. Grizedale Forest with Go Ape, watersports on the lake, rowing boat/canoe hire etc nearby.
Great walks from the door. Walk across the road to catch the steamer from the pier.
Other Activities: Boat trips, clay shooting, archery, quad biking, water-ski-ing, rowing
