About Ewa

Nothing suits us more than being outside. In the snow, in the sun or even the rain. We are very fond of down-hill skiing, especially the wide-open bowls. Once the snow melts, we become avid hikers and golfers. Having skied many resorts in North America and Europe, we find Kicking Horse perfectly suited to our likes and abilities and enjoy how there is always something new to discover. We are looking forward to biking and trying white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River, but skiing will always be our favourite activity.

Ewa purchased this condo in 2012

Why Ewa chose British Columbia Mountains

Over the years we have gravitated to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort over all the other mountain resorts. It's hard not to fall in love (and into thigh-deep powder) with one of it's four bowls or the mountain vistas that astound you over and over again with every turn of your head. Every time we drive out from our home in Edmonton, we feel the stress of the work week strip away and are always enthused to go for a walk in Golden or treat ourselves to a night-out in one of the many fine restaurants. And now, a place where we can hang up our hats, or helmets, and prop-up our feet in a condo well worth the six-hour drive.

What makes this condo unique

Aspen 56 is secluded enough to feel like a private mountain haven, yet close enough to ski-out from in the morning (very short walk up a slope behind the condo), or ski right up to at the end of the day. The resort also has a grizzly-bear sanctuary within walking distance and an excellent golf course near by. In the evenings, there is plenty to do without having to go down the mountain, but at the same time the town of Golden is close enough for an easy drive in.

Awesome location, great view.

  • 5 of 5

Such a great locationn. The condo was spotless and so nice when we arrived. The view from the hot tub was amazing. Only downside... Don't try to order pizza from Red Tomato Pies. They don't deliver to the resort and waited almost 40 minutes to tell us that.

It was clean and had everything we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

There was everything we needed plus more! Beautiful location and condo! The clouds were literally below us! The hot tub and deck was amazing! Everything was clean and ready to go when we arrived. Even when we arrived very late everything was ready to go. And when we needed it they allowed us an extra hour to get everything out of the house. Thank you

What a great find!

  • 5 of 5

We had a gorgeous view of the Canadian Rockies off the deck while sitting in the hot tub. The place was extremely clean and had all the amenities we needed. The area very quiet and easy to find. Would love to come back again!!!

nice but billing practice seems a little sketchy

  • 2 of 5

Please note: I had trouble submitting this so if you receive it twice I apologize.

We found the condo to be quite nice. We appreciated that it was fully stocked with towels, bedding, dishes, cutlery. And we enjoyed the mountain bike trails which were located close by. We also enjoyed having the gondola just a walk away. Our biggest complaint is the way the price was advertised on VRBO. After we booked a weeks stay we checked our credit card and were surprised to see that we were charged a great deal more than we expected (approx $50 per night more than the advertised "average" price). Upon further investigation we learned that the price per night on the VRBO site was "average price" and not even close to what we would be charged. This "average price" they showed should have been listed as "lowest possible price that had ever been charged", and one that you may see once a year only, because it really is NOT average at all. At some point, prior to billing our credit card, we should have received a notice advising us exactly what the price per night would be. We do feel this was not a truly honest way to advertise the price and for that reason, we will not be renting this unit again.

Owner's Response: We appreciate that the guests liked our well appointed rental property. We take joy in providing the guests with the best possible accommodation. We understand their frustration when the price quoted on the VRBO/HomeAway page is not the same as what the customer ends up paying. It appears that the quotes are made in American dollars which is not clearly stated on the website. Furthermore, HomeAway adds a variable service fee. These factors affect the final price paid by the guests and are beyond our control.

Unforgettable Mountain Experience

  • 5 of 5

We had the most unforgettable experience at this condo. The views were amazing from the deck and hot tub. The private hot tub was used after a day full of adventures. Everything was as described above and comfortable for 2-4 people. The owners responded quickly to our request and any additional questions we had. A quick 10min walk down to the village or 20min drive down the mountain to town. Will definitely look to book here again.

Whatever your mountain activity cravings may be, Golden and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort are the places to satisfy them! While Aspen 56 is the home-away-from-home to complete your day, be sure to catch a movie at the cinema in town or walk across Canada's longest free-standing timber frame bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River.
