Great house, great location, comfy beds
Loved this house. We were just there for 2 nights. I could have stayed alot longer.
Fascinating property. Approximately 100 years old according to in house bio. 5-10 minutes to plaza
Next to school with play ground equipment. Library across street. Very large front yard had Prairie dogs rabbits variety of birds. Fun to watch. Nice private back yard. Owner responded quickly to e mails
Wonderful Historic home in the heart of Taos.
We had a lovely stay in this historic home. Be prepared, the house is over a hundred years old so it is not for everyone. However, if you are someone who appreciates history and wants a gorgeous home in a prime location, this is the house for you!
Also, the management was on top of their game. They addressed all the concerns of a previous guest before we arrived. They also came to house within moments of calling to help open the door.
Charming authentic adobe house
We loved our stay in the Taos Pond House. It is a beautiful old adobe house with beautiful woodwork and updated kitchen and bathrooms.
As noted in an earlier review, there are no electrical outlets in the bathrooms but I always travel with an extension cord so it was no problem for me. I appreciated the minimalist furnishings and artwork that felt appropriate to the style of the house.
We were in Taos for a family wedding so did not prepare any meals in the kitchen but the appliances were modern.
All of the rooms were spacious and the bedrooms had large closets
We had a bit of trouble finding the house when we first arrived in Taos. The driveway is located on Town Hall street and is directly across from the Taos Library. You enter the yard between two pillars that state Taos Retirement Village. The house is set back from the street and you won’t see it until you turn in to the driveway. The house is in a complex with several casitas but the back yard has a privacy fence and you do not see any other structures from the windows so it felt very private.
The house is stocked with extra linens and towels and we appreciated having the washer/dryer available (laundry detergent included)
All in all we had a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this property to anyone
PICTURES ARE DECEIVING....POORLY RENOVATED...1-STAR AT BEST...OVER PRICED HEAVILY.....MY FIANCEE REFUSED TO STAY OVERNIGHT....WE ATE DINNER AND FOUND A HOTEL.....REALLY BAD CHOICE FOR QUALITY......
The Pond house was a very simple, somewhat spartan accommodation.
It is never easy to be the one who makes reservations for a group and then for the group to be underwhelmed with the property. There were 3 couples in our group. It was awkward that the only bathroom downstairs was only accessible through one of the bedrooms. The linens (towels, sheets, comforters) were very worn, the pillows were terrible and the shade in our bedroom (upstairs) was broken...we had to hang a sheet over the window so that we could block the light from the security light in front of the house to sleep. There were no outlets in either bathroom which made it difficult to use a hairdryer or curling iron - a dresser in the bedroom with a mirror would have been a practical addition. The living room was very large, but only had a couch plus two chairs in the huge space. This meant that we had to bring (uncomfortable) chairs from the dining room into the living area if we all wanted to visit or watch a movie. There could be a much better, more comfortable use of that space if another couch and a couple more chairs were added...there was plenty of room. The kitchen was sparsely stocked (no pie pan for our quiche) and the skillets were in terrible condition with flaking Teflon. There was no dishwasher soap and we had to go out and buy our own...if there is a dishwasher, there should be soap! A couple times we tried to contact the names given to us to ask questions and had no luck contacting someone who was willing to help us...the number put us in touch with a retirement home. The one thing we did enjoy was sitting on the back deck at the very comfortable table and chairs...we spent some wonderful time there. We would not choose this home again should we revisit Taos.
The house is located at 405 Town Hall Drive, Taos, NM 87571.
