|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Enjoy a glass of wine on the west deck overlooking the London Eye & Victoria Tower. Or from the east deck, check out the London Shard. Then walk less than a block to catch a show at either the Old Vic Theatre or the hip Young Vic or a dinner at the Anchor & Hope gastropub. Southwark Tube and Waterloo Station are less than 5 minutes by foot and the Tate Modern is about a 10 minutes walk. The National Theatre and Southbank center are about 10 minutes away. Light, bright & airy open design makes for a comfortable & convenient short or long stay in this fully equipped modern flat.
Stay cozy in winter with the gas fireplace and cool in summer with the a/c. Floor to ceiling windows in the living/dining room ensure you know what the weather is!
One of the joys of living in central London is the proximity to everything and yet the infrastructure is under constant renewal. There may be construction near the flat while you stay during working hours during the week. While the flat is very quiet for a central London location, please inquire with Hannah if you are extremely sensitive to noise as to current levels of activity nearby.
Keywords: 2 BR/2 BA/2 Balconies. Quiet yet close to everything. Steps away from Southwark Tube stop and Waterloo Station. Minutes to Southbank. Clean, secure
My wife and I love London, having lived and worked there for 5 years. As a geophysicist, one gets to see the world and London is one of the great cities of course. We live mainly in Arizona now, where our dog, Blue, loves to walk in the cool mornings. But we get back to London for theatre, art, and just walking on the Southbank as often as we can.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007
This location is in the heart of the city, with a choice of bridges to walk across to the City if you are working or the West End for a show or to Westminster. My favorite run is across the Westminster bridge around Green Park and Buckingham Palace, back down the Mall and across the Hungerford Bridge to home. Running under the chestnut trees is beautiful.
Location, location, location! Cook at home or pop out for any kind of food you desire: it is all close by.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teen boys) arrived in London August 3rd. We were warmly greeted at the flat and given a full overview of the features and functions. It was very clear this is a premium rental and the owners take special care to ensure the comfort of their guests.
You might question the location vs. other more traditional tourist areas within London. Southwark turned-out to be a perfect base for our visit. The proximity to Waterloo and Southwark Stations made our journeys simple and quick (we recommend getting Oyster cards for your visit). We simply walked to our destinations along the Thames. The London Eye was only 10 mins. away. Although there are some hotels scattered about, Southwark didn't feel like a tourist area. So it was nice to come back at the end of the day and enjoy a more "local" setting. That is, real Londoners at the pubs and restaurants vs. the hordes of tourists we saw throughout the day.
The unit itself was modern, large and bright. During our visit, London was quite warm, so the central air conditioning was perfect. Keep in mind the large floor-to-ceiling windows allow for a lot of heat gain, so keep the shades up while you're out if it's warm.
The neighborhood has everything you'll need for your visit. We enjoyed the Sainsbury Local and a number of restaurants within 1 block of the flat.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
One minor note, the bedroom doors are self-closing (I suspect this is a fire code issue). They are quite heavy and, if allowed to swing shut, are quite loud. We had a couple of situations with them slamming in the night when one of the boys went out to use the bathroom. Wedges were provided to keep them open (or you can just try and remember to close them gently). This is probably something that should be pointed out during the initial walk-through with new renters.
We recently returned from a 10 night stay at this marvelous flat. We are a family of 4, including a 10 and a 12 year old. The location of this flat is amazing. There are two Underground stations only a short walk away (4-5 minutes), but we ended up using the closer Southwark Station to get everywhere. We never waited longer than 2 minutes for a train at Southwark. We ordered Travelcard passes before leaving home, so we were ready to ride the tube the moment we arrived. The flat is located near many restaurants, and the street is quiet and mostly residential. We loved having a Sainsbury grocery store 1 minute from the flat. It was nice to make breakfast or have a glass of wine from Sainsbury each day. There is also a Tesco Express around the corner. It was easy to find restaurants nearby that even my picky-eater children could enjoy, and we quickly discovered that the Deliveroo app is a great way to quickly get take away (sushi, pizza, etc.) delivered to the flat.
The flat manager was always quick to respond to our questions, and she was easy to reach via text message. She met us at the flat at the agreed upon time. We stayed in contact with her after landing at Heathrow so she had a good idea of our arrival time. Check out was even easier. We left keys and payment for the housekeeper and left.
The view from the flat is amazing! We loved the huge windows that made us feel like we were in a postcard each day. We loved having 2 balconies, and being on the top floor made the place quiet. There was some building construction off the back balcony, but the flat is well-insulated, and we didn’t hear any of the noise in the mornings.
The flat is well appointed, and is located in a secure building. The kitchen had every tool we needed. The air conditioning worked well. The darkening shades in the bedrooms blocked the morning sun. The cable television worked well. We had to reset the wifi router after the first week, but it worked very well, otherwise. The flat was clean. We will definitely book this flat the next time we stay in London. It is the best rental we have ever booked and a spacious option for travelers who want more space and flexibility than a hotel offers.
The only improvement I can think of to recommend is offering each guest more than one towel and face cloth to use throughout the stay. The dryer takes a long time to dry a batch of towels, and when traveling, we aren’t in the flat long enough to do a lot of laundry.
We spent a week here and would do so again in a minute. Great views, the location is excellent near two tube stops (maybe 4-5 minute walk), a market is right down the street (2 minute walk) and there are plenty of places to eat if you want to eat out/take out, or even grab a cup of coffee. The unit had everything we needed and was very comfortable for my family of four, which includes- two tween girls. There were plenty of kitchen supplies, the bathroom had a basket of goodies from other vacationers, shampoo, Band-Aids, etc., which I thought was very sweet and made it feel very homey. One note is that the cleaning company should lift and look under and behind things. When we were searching for my daughter's lost glasses under seat cushions and behind the beds was quite scary and not simply left from one previous stay...... The place could use a good scrub and is a bit of deferred maintenance, mostly paint and replacing bulbs and a few worn fixtures. We did not get to meet Hannah as were ran about 15 minutes behind, however we easily gained access and when we had any question she was very prompt and very helpful with what we needed. The place is suitable for pretty much anyone, there is a lift, and although I have listed a few suggestions , I would not hesitate to recommend this flat!
I did not stay at this particular flat, it was booked. Hannah the manager offered the other penthouse on the 4th floor. There were three of us, a small family. This is a great location, near plenty of restaurants, grocery store and the Waterloo. I would absolutely recommend staying at any of these flats. Hannah is so responsive and easy to work with. She can offer pictures of the other flats if asked. The view from the 4th floor penthouse is really amazing. Having such a wonderful place to come back to at the end of a long day really made a difference for us. Thanks so much Hannah!
Living in the Penthouse flat met our expectations and more. Agreed with previous reviews that pictures do not do it justice. It was really comfortable to be in. It almost made us not want to be a tourist in London and just hang out here!
Not only the flat was great, but the neighbourhood was safe and close to major transit. But we walked to many places on the south side and even to the north. Walked to Borough Market which was about a 15-20 minute walk. (longer if you get lost.) Agree, Anchor and Hope is a gastropub. Understand the chef was from St. John.
Landlord was great and met us and showed us the key things we needed to know. All the amenities mentioned earlier are still accurate.
Would recommend as long it is not during dates that we want to come back to London!
This is an amazing flat. The location is great, close to the Southwark and Waterloo underground stations, restaurants, convenience stores, and attractions. There is not 1 negative thing I can say about this flat. It was everything I expected and more. The flat is large, clean, has comfortable beds, good kitchen, and good temperature control. Stayed with my two kids and wife. Very safe area. This flat was a better value than a comparable hotel. I would definitely stay there again. Everything listed about this flat is accurate. Hannah, the landlord, was very nice and accommodating.
