Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday lodge in Vermontville - Moose Lodge

Lodge, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Enjoy a wonderful week or a relaxing long weekend in a rustic Adirondack Lodge.

Our camp was designed and constructed with large open spaces, plenty of glass and natural materials from the adirondacks modeled after the great camps from the late 1800s. We made sure the modern day features enjoyed today and find necessary are also incorporated into the lodge.

Loon Lake and the Loon Lake House was the destination of 3 US Presidents which made it their summer white house in the late 1800s. Many of the NYC old families would come by train and spend the summer swimming and boating on Loon Lake. The NY Central railroad extended the tracks into Loon Lake and constructed a train station for arriving and departing guests.

Today the rail line is used for biking in the summer and snowmachines in the winter. Majestic boathouses built in the late 1800s are now private camps and are still on the shoreline.

Enjoy our large stone wood burning fireplace indoors with plenty of firewood available to help excape, unwind and relax from everyday life. There is nothing like sitting in front of a crackling fire, talking, enjoying an adult beverage.

The lodge is furnished with adirondack and camp furniture. Hickory, oak and pine dining and sitting furniture, along with cedar log beds are used in the lodge rooms. Taxidermy Birds, fish and mammals/animals help set the mood. All are also seen around the area in real life. Large deck with adirondack chairs, dining table, log chairs and gas grill (we provide the propane) look out at Bass lake and the mountains.

Enjoy the screened cottage attached to the deck. Listen to the loons, owls, birds and other wildlife. We have a two person canoe and kayak for you to use along with paddles and PFDs. Boat and swim down at Hodge Bay on Loon Lake a short walk just down the road. Hike or bike the many trails marked in and around the Loon Lake area.

All linens, towels and bedding are provided. We also provide paper products for the kitchen and baths, laundry supplies for the washer and drier and cleaning items for the dishwasher and dishes. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes and tools needed to prepare a snack or a meal. Microwave, stove, refrigerator-freezer and dishwasher are provided. Washer and dryer are here for your use. 2 flatscreen HD televisions with satelite service, dvd player and a stereo along with wireless speakers are available for your enjoyment. Wi-fi will keep you connected if its necessary. Enjoy your morning coffee out in the screen room as you use your laptop or smart phone to check your email.

About The Owner

We have been traveling to the adirondacks for more than 35yrs . Lisa and I have designed and built our Adirondack lodge/house for our rest and relaxation and to have a place for our sons and their families to enjoy together.

The Owner purchased this lodge in 2008

Why The Owner chose New York

The northern Adirondacks are the most beautiful location in the entire northeast. 46 peaks to hike and explore. Hundreds of water trails to paddle, Loon Lake is the place to start your adirondack adventure.

What makes this lodge unique

You can hike, bike, skate, ski, boat, fish or do nothing at all while here.

This house was perfect, exactly what we were looking for. We've stayed in other adk rentals and this one is our new favorite. You're in the woods and it's only a short walk to the beautiful lake. Everything you need is provided, all you need is your food and drink. The house is also beautifully decorated in the Adirondack theme and is so cozy. Thank you for sharing! We'll be back!

A couple of minor things:

1) There were not enough towels. The towels provided were too small and were old. Your future guests would appreciate larger, newer bath towels and wash cloths.

2) The shower downstairs was in need of cleaning. Mildew was on the floor in the corners and had not been cleaned prior to our visit.

Overall, the cabin was superb!! Just correct these small issues and it would be perfect. I would definitely want to come back!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. The only way we know if the people we entrust to prepare the camp for our next guests are doing a great job is from the comments good and bad our guests send us about their stay. Each year we replace 50% of the towels at the beginning of the rental season. We ask that two towels per guest be placed in each bathroom along with hand towels and washcloths and the rest are stored in a large plastic tub down in the laundry room. I shared your comment about the shower with the cleaning company and told them they must do a better job. Please come back and see how we are doing. Fred and Alisa

Heart of the Adirondacks

  • 5 of 5

Our family had such a wonderful time at Moose Lodge and we would highly recommend it to anyone as a home base in the playground that is ADK. The place is described to a T; clean, beautiful, and well appointed. We all got up and got in some exercise in that mountain air every morning. Fantastic area for walks, runs, hikes, or cycling. Really recommend riding north up Route 26 toward Duane Center then down route 30, or along route 60 toward Paul Smiths/Gabriels to 86 and loop back around to Loon Lake up route 3. My dad and I rode down to Lake Placid one morning; beautiful ride. Great hikes to a number of remote mountains close by. Way fewer people at the trail heads up this way than down around the high peaks areas. Definitely do Crusher mountain; so easy, and a great payoff. We recreated at Loon Lake for some portion of each day during our stay too, and it is stunning. We swam, and used the provided floaties, canoe, and kayaks. While paddling with my wife and daughter, we had a Loon pop up just over a paddle length from the canoe and hang with us for a moment. Nothing like a mountain lake! Though we didn't do any fishing, unfortunately, there look to be some prime places in this region, including Loon Lake. Noticed a couple of flippin' sticks available for use by the entrance of the lodge too. Plenty of literature about the surrounding area is provided. We browsed and planned what to do next while relaxing around the house and deck at mealtimes and in the evening (in between shooting shuffleboard downstairs with my daughter). The drive up Whiteface is a must. Seeing the sights of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake are too. Everybody had fun on the boat tour of Lake Placid. If you're into craft brew, you gotta spend some time in Lake Placid and Blue Line breweries; good folks good brews. We really enjoyed the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. We did so much, but felt like we just scratched the surface. Can't wait to visit again. Hope you have as much fun as we did.

Fantastic rental!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Moose Lodge. We rent in the ADK a lot, and this was a great find! Beautifully decorated in ADK style, clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were 2 couples and a dog, and the house was more than spacious for us. Communication with the owners was prompt, and their information helpful and clear. Although not right on the water, it is a short walk to Loon Lake, which has a very nice little beach for swimming, or kayaking/canoeing. And, there really are loons on Loon Lake! The owners provide info about some lovely hikes to take, right from the house, or there are also many trailheads a short drive away. We were there primarily for cycling, and were able to park on Rt. 3 and access some lovely long (50-100 mile) rides on roads with little traffic. The very large shower in the first floor bath was very appreciated afterward. We also really liked the screened in gazebo, where we could enjoy a glass of wine, read, and listen to the loons without being bothered by bugs.

We also made good use of the game room downstairs, specifically the shuffleboard! My friend was so enthralled with this game she tells me she has a watch on Craigslist to buy one!

We appreciated being able to bring our older dog. There is a short nearby hike (Crusher Mt.) which was appropriate for an older dog. He hung out in the gazebo with us, and a red squirrel enjoyed teasing him from the outside!

The kitchen was generally well equipped, and we ate most of our meals in. We did have one dinner in Saranac Lake, at the Left Bank Cafe, which was excellent!

I highly recommend this rental for a great ADK experience!

Clean, spacious, dog friendly and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for one week in June with our 3 dogs. The house itself was imaculent, very spacious, and well equipped with everything needed including a fully stocked kitchen. The house is elequently decorated in a mondern Adirondack style. It's located in a private secluded area and once you enter the home, the environment itself encourages you to let everything go and simply relax. We mostly used the downstairs but also spent time on the deck and in the screened in gazebo. There was plenty of wood to have a fire either inside in the fireplace or outside on the deck. We didn't go down to the lake for our interest was to hike with the dogs in the area. We found the pennisula trail in Lake Placid to be very dog friendly and beautiful. We also spent the day in Saranac Lake and hiked a mountain in Loon Lake. The owner was very helpful with any questions that we had and quickly responded to them. We will defineitley be returning to this beautiful secluded home in the Adirondacks!
