This flat with balcony and huge roof terrace is «hanging» high above water edge at the seafront of the north side of Senglea Point and has absolutely stunning views of Valletta, Fort St. Angelo, Vittoriosa, the Yacht Marina and the majestic approach to The Grand Harbour with all its sailboats, fishing boats, super yachts and cruise-ships. Senglea is one of The Three Cities built by the Knights of St.John from 1524 onwards. Picturesque Senglea has charming narrow streets and lots of steps. The seafront has nice restaurants and cafés and you find local shops for all your needs. A small walk or a water-taxi (dasha) take you across the creek from Senglea (Isla) to historic Vittoriosa (Birgu) with its fine museums, elegant bars and restaurants etc.. Or you can take the frequent ferry on a short trip across the Grand Harbour to Valletta, the historic capital of Malta. An exciting ride with a modern lift is included in the fare, and brings you swiftly from the sea shore to the top of Upper Barracca Gardens, from where you can enjoy an exceptional view of the whole of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities. From Senglea the local bus take you directly to Marsa Sports club for golf or tennis or into the capital Valletta for a bit of shopping, or you can take the bus to south of the Island to a beach or walk a few metres to Senglea point which is favoured by local swimmers. The apartment is equipped with WI-FI.

About Morten Russell Wedén
I was born 1947, and trained as graphic designer in London, worked as designer, writer and film critic in Norway. Stayed with my family in Italy and South Africa for some years and then took early retirement. I am now enjoying traveling and working with book projects and real estate development.
Morten Russell Wedén purchased this Apartment in 2006
Why Morten Russell Wedén chose Senglea
The apartment sits high above the water overlooking the lovely Grand Harbor and historic Valletta plus old fortresses and castles and churches all around. I knew the area for some years, and was tipped by friends when it was for sale. I bought directly from owner and has not regretted it one second. The apartment has been upgraded with a new, modern bathroom, and a new modern kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing machine etc., and it has now everything you would want from a holiday home. When I first saw the apartment, I immediately connected to it. I felt it was my 'home from home'. It is always like that with homes; it’s either love at first sight or there is no connection at all. This apartment is a perfect shelter, a place where you can relax completely. You can lose yourself completely by just watching the view from the balcony. No need for TV here.
What makes this Apartment unique
I have mentioned the almost overwhelming view, but the little town of Senglea in itself is like and old fashioned fairytale with its narrow streets and tiny shops. The locals are extremely friendly, and since Senglea apparently is a weel kept secret, there are hardly any tourists here at all. This is a remnant of old-time Malta. Let us hope it will last...

Excellent location, stunning views
The apartment was large and the location in Senglea could not have been better for a week's visit to Valletta. There was a million dollar view of Valletta, Fort St. Angelo, St. Lawrence church, a marina, yachts, cruise ships, local boat traffic. It was close to a ferry to Valletta, restaurants, small grocery store, and a seaside walkway for evening strolls. There were few tourists in the immediate area which gave an sense of living among local people, on a pedestrian only street. We spend many hours on the balcony enjoying the view and also the daily lives of the people living nearby. The agent, Sonny, was very helpful; he transported us from the airport at midnight and gave us an introduction to both the apartment and the local area, telling us where to catch a ferry or boat taxi, where to find groceries, and suggestions on sightseeing. The apartment has some eclectic décor.
Nice! The only thing that was not mentioned is the opportunity to take morning swims before breakfast 3 minutes away at Senglea point - just like a local!
I could write a thousand words describing this place ,but only a few would describe it . The best place ever ,a home from home but with views that do take your breath away. We were met at the airport by sunny and his wife taken on a tour of the area being told where the best places to eat drink, shop, banks etc . He even let us have some milk and water as we missed the shops and said to call on him if we needed to ,Thankyou Sunny x . I’ve always loved Malta and it’s lovely friendly people and now have a lovely apartment to return to .
The flat is not luxurious, but it is charming, functional, and perfectly located for visiting the historical sites of Malta. Recent updates to the kitchen and bathroom made staying here very comfortable. Access to neighborhood food stores, local restaurants, and the ferry to Valletta help round out the experience; the property manager, Sunny, is a wealth of information and assistance, always available to enhance your visit. We even engaged him to drive us around Malta one day, which was most enjoyable. But the best feature of all is the balcony: it is magical, with its views of Valletta across the Grand Harbor, Fort San Angelo across Galley Creek., and the never-ending parade of ships, yachts and boats moving across the water. My wife dubbed me the Harbormaster for my critiques of the berthing of the yachts across the creek...
All in all, this was a wonderful vacation.
Thanks! You listed all the arguments for me buying the flat 12 years ago! Just to sit on the balcony and watch , you can do it forever - total bliss and totally fascinating ! And Sunny of course - a true representative for the ever friendly Sengleans!
Rooms and What a View
Singles is a different experience of Malta, quiet and largely off the tourist beat. The apartment is currently a mix of new and traditional as the owner is in the process of renewing areas of the apartment.
The photograph actually does not do justice to the view across Senglea Creek and Grand Harbour. Senglea itself has a wealth of restaurants and bars on the waterfront whilst there are even more across in Bormla and Birgu.
From Birgu you are a short and scenic ferry ride across Grand Harbour to the vastly improved Valletta.
Sunny, who looks after the apartment is a great guy who a now rank as a friend.
Close by are good local shops to meet most of your needs.
The apartment is cosy enough for a couple and big enough for a family or a group of friends.
Local buses are good and can get you all over the island(s).
Clean with everything required in amazing location
Would only suggest new towels and bed linen required
Just arrived today after 6 months absence, so shall attend to towels and bedclothes!
We loved the location of the flat, and the fantastic view of the Grand Harbour and Valletta, and Fort St. Michael. It was so easy to get to Valletta and Sliema via the ferry- the best way to travel in Malta! We also had easy access to buses and the Hop on Hop off buses.
In the flat kitchen and bathroom are nicely renovated but a coffeemaker would have been nice. The bedrooms need some renovation. The living/ dining is quaint, perhaps a new couch is needed. A TV would have been nice, but not necessary.
Otherwise, we were fairly comfortable except for uncharacteristic cool weather, and the need for heating at night.
The unusual cold weather this February is something that I will take up with the Weather Gods. There are espresso kettle and cappuccino creamer in the kitchen, but point taken - a filter coffe option will be added. The bedrooms are next on the upgrade programme...
Historical Senglea seafront with stunning views of Valletta, Vittoriosa and the Grand Harbour, with its Super Yachts Marina, Cruise Liners, Many Good Restaurants and Casino. GO Swimming, Diving, Fishing and Excursions. Meet very friendly local people. All this will make your stay memorable. Shop all your daily needs locally. Enjoy the nice and quiet while there is only a short taxi ride to swinging bars and nightclubs or to the international airport, golf course or race course. Or just chill out and enjoy the golden sun on the balcony or the grand roof terrace at the seafront. And have a romantic evening on the balcony taking in the views of floodlit Fort St. Angelo and Valletta...
