Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Shasta Cascade

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

What we can offer our guests is close proximity to the town of Mt. Shasta and a very private, quiet setting. We are about .9 miles to town but live in the forest. Guests have killer views out of each window and a private deck for relaxation.

The loft has about 800 sq. ft. and the living room, dining room, bedroom and kitchen are all open with no walls between them. Guests have their own private carport to keep from the snow and sun.

There is a full kitchen with all conveniences except a dishwasher.

There is a queen size bed and a high quality pull out sofa-bed. Our space can accommodate 4 people.

We are pet-dander free and this is the reason we do not allow pets. Read our reviews and you will be convinced that the Garden Loft is the place for you.

We have two mountain bikes to borrow as well as two pairs of snowshoes. We have snow sleds and luges as well.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed

About The Owner

Sandy and I moved here 34 years ago from the Bay Area because of our love of backpacking. No Regrets! We raised our family here. Both Sandy and I are retired teachers. Sandy elem. school and me, high school. We love outdoor activities as well as jewelry making, playing piano, gardening, knitting, swimming, exercising, hiking, wood working and sailing.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1977

Why The Owner chose Shasta Cascade

The garden loft is a great get-a-way from the hustle and bustle of one's home. Guests have called our garden loft serene with a special feeling of calmness. One is in the forest yet only a short hike to the downtown area.

What makes this cottage unique

Our visitors will enjoy the privacy and solitude as well as the close proximity to town, skiing, and many other outdoor activities that Mt. Shasta is known for. Park in the carport that is steps from the front door of the loft. Enjoy the 1 acre of flowers during the Spring, Summer and Fall. How about a two person shower with two shower heads!! Total relaxation awaits you here.

Comfort, care, convenience

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful space, well-stocked with everything needed for a fun and comfortable stay. Binders of information on trails, restaurants, local and natural history. Lots of books on local trails and natural history. Games, movies, ready-to-cook kitchen. Beautiful views of Shasta. Sleds, snow shoes, bikes and more available for guest use. Thoughtful and kind owners truly concerned about guest comfort. Owners on site but ample privacy. Highly recommended.

Very nice

  • 5 of 5

Very beautiful and peaceful loft, perfect for our last trip to Mt Shasta. John and Sandy were very helpful to provide information before trip and during stay, and kind enough to let use snow shoes, sledding etc. Open space and beautiful views from the loft, and lots of space around the property for kids to roam around. I look forward to returning in summer.

Tranquility and Comfort

  • 5 of 5

The loft above the garage/workspace is well laid out in design and I lacked no amenities during my stay. The bed faces a grove of trees framed by the picture windows which is ever so pleasant to wake up to. The property has a number of acres and I enjoyed the sense of privacy (the loft is separate from the house) and being in such glorious open space. The owners are gracious hosts checking-in to see if I was in need of anything (I stayed 7 nights). There is much bird life with a bird feeder off of the small deck that has a table and barbecue. I was participating in a series of intense classes and coming back to this property, a place that embodies tranquility and creature comfort was fantastic. The kitchen is a very efficiently laid out with plenty of counter space with a window overlooking the garden and back of the main house. There is a small free standing electric stove and drawers stuffed with any kitchen tool one may need. It was great to have a carport for it rained while I was there. Also, you are pretty centrally located in Mt. Shasta, it is off the beaten track, and yet, all you have to do is drop down McCloud to be in the center of town. I would definitely rebook this property upon my return to Mt. Shasta and see what the owners have been up to in their wood shop, for they are wildly creative in all of their doings.

Beautiful & Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at numerous VRBO properties while in Mt Shasta and this is one of the loveliest. Beautiful, quiet, very peaceful and furnished with everything you need. I especially enjoyed meeting Sandy & John; they are wonderful. I look forward to returning with my husband in June when the gardens are in bloom.

Beauty, Peace, and Hospitality Abounding

Forgive my stealing the words, but none apply so splendidly as those of Thoreau from Reflections at Walden Pond, ......"It was a drama of many scenes and without an end." The majestic mountain, the vivid fall foilage, and the birds, greet us each morning as we step onto the porch. Wrapped in a blanket at night I can sit in comfort on the porch and watch the stars to my hearts content. John and Sandy take you under their wing as if you were a long lost relative. At once you feel at home. The loft is perfect in every way - it's got everything you could possibly need, and it's really tastefully decorated, and the tea selection, perfect! Our stay at the Garden Loft was a pure delight. A return is a must; I will be happy to see how the grandchildren have grown!

All we hoped for and more.

The reviews are all glowing, and are so true. My son and I had the great pleasure of staying in John and Sandy's garden loft while visiting Mt. Shasta. From the moment we walked up the beautifully crafted stairs and into the loft we were saying to each other "wow." And that feeling never left. The space, both inside and out, is perfect. And the hosts are such beautiful people, warm and so welcoming.

I was born in Norway. And it was great fun to meet a family who has such wonderful memories and stories to tell from their extended stays in Scandinavia. We even had a nice conversation in Norwegian. The entire stay was a great treat and it was wonderful to connect with kindred spirits.

Tusen Takk til John & Sandy.

Hilsen,

Elbjorg & Glenn

Sandy and I propagate Shasta Lilies and we probably have the largest concentration (no. per acre) of Shasta Lilies in California and Oregon. When they bloom the fragrance rivals any flower from Hawaii. One bloom in a room will permeate an entire home.
