About Steve & Bobbie
Captain Steve has spent may years working on the artificial reef program for the State. He also has extensive knowledge of the fishing and crabbing available on the Broadkill River. He's happiest when he's fishing, planning on fishing, or talking about fishing. Bobbie is recently retired from the hospitality industry and is enjoying every day she no longer has to leave the beach. It has always been in her plans to offer her hospitality to those who wanted to experience the laid back lifestyle that comes with being on Broadkill Beach.
Steve & Bobbie purchased this House in 2006
Why Steve & Bobbie chose Broadkill Beach
This property has become one of the greatest blessings Bobbie and I have ever received because of the wonderful experiences we were able to share with our family and closest friends. Fond memories of breathtaking sunsets over the Wildlife Refuge while sitting on the back deck and then watching the stars appear in the sky; finding the north star, big dipper and identifying other constellations. Turning to the moon, we would determine its phase and discuss the way to remember “Waxing” and “Waning” crescent. The children would search for shooting stars and make a wish. I hope you and your family can create similar memories here at our home at the beach. This southern section of Broadkill Beach is amazing in that it gives you the true feeling of peace and serenity. When you walk the beach with your morning cup of coffee, you might not see another person anywhere! Privacy, tranquility and serenity are what you experience while walking on the sandy shore of the mouth of the Delaware Bay. Although individuals do not own the beach front, this is a very private area, possibly because there is no legal place to park your vehicles unless you own the property in this section. There is no public parking. This is a beach experience you have never had before. It is perfect for families. It is located on the Delaware Bay and great for smaller children to swim and play, older ones to fish, swim and operate water toys and for parents to let their guard down a little because your family is easily seen at all times due to the fact that there are few or no people within 100 yards of your beach chair. You will not ever find this beach too crowded and will be able to create your own fond memories to carry you into the future. Discover why the southernmost part of Broadkill Beach is the best kept secret in Delaware.

Perfect Homeaway Experience
Steve and Bobbie's place was perfect for us in every way. Spotless clean, literally had everything we needed, quality linens, pots and pans, towels, awesome AC, even the dish soap was fancy! Every detail was thought of for this home away from home. I inquired if there were games, and was told "not so much", but upon arrival were 2 brand new games and a deck of cards. So thoughtful. Very comfortable for a family of 4 that included two teenage girls. Loved the beach in front and the marsh in back. Perfect for kayaking, we enjoyed morning and sunset paddles. Beach chairs and buggy available to use. Steve taught me how to catch crabs and cooked them for me right on the dock! Fishing right off the dock too. Loved the outdoor "bath house", my family took every shower outside with the warm breeze. Just awesome. Cute store at entrance to neighborhood, a couple "free library" stations, very peaceful and friendly place to visit. Fun stuff to go and do in the area, we enjoyed the Dogfish Head Brewery Tour (food there was delicious too), Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, Cape Henlopen State Park, but also enjoyed birdwatching in the marsh from the back deck (osprey nest with 3 chicks at the neighbors' house!), breakfast in the screened in porch, and the spectacular sunsets. We loved every minute of our Delaware getaway, and it was thanks in a huge part to the awesome accommodations at Steve and Bobbie's apartment.
This was a great escape for a weekend. The rental was spotless and attention was made to provide everything you could possibly need. Your hosts are just delightful! This is the spot - understand that you will have company as you come and go because of the property being attached. For us, we enjoyed chatting when we were outside but never felt that they intruded on our privacy. In fact-they couldn't be more friendly and inviting. At the last minute my daughter and her boyfriend ended up coming along. There was ample room for all 4 of us. The outside shower/'toilet came in handy with sandy feet or if someone needed the bathroom and the inside one was occupied. Able to paddleboard when the tide is up. The beach is quiet and beautiful. Lots of horseshoe crabs to watch make their way back to the water after being washed up from the tide. Even saw a dolphin. Beautiful sunsets. And an osprey family with 3 little ones to watch from the screened in porch. Can access all without moving your car. You will need some bug spray for the flies-but honestly if the wind is blowing we weren't too bothered. We were all sorry that the weekend ended but we are looking at coming back. You miss all the traffic to Rehobeth but are close enough to drive there if you want. Brewery is near by and has great tours. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
Welcoming Beach Property
These folks are so thoughtful in so many ways! We had a wonderful stay.
Made wonderful memories!
Couldn’t be happier with our first stay at Broadkill Beach. The rental had every comfort of home, very clean and perfect for our family of four. Our small children learned so much about the fish, crabs and wildlife. The family who own the condo were the most hospitable! Can’t wait to go back
Perfect family getaway
Our family spent a few days at this property and loved it! The accommodations are impressively clean and there were many thoughtful touches, like fresh flowers, a basket of children's books, a booster seat set out for our 2 year old, and sunburn gel, just in case the beach got too toasty.
The beach is right across the street and was clean and quiet. The property backs up to a stream across which is a wildlife preserve so you get great views (especially of the sunsets). Steve taught us to fish for crabs off the back deck, which my kids found thrilling, and we even ate them for dinner one night!
My kids enjoyed all the wildlife: an osprey building her nest next door, crabs in the stream out back (blue crabs, horseshoe crabs, and fiddler crabs), snails, herons, perch, and more!
Overall a great location if you prefer a quiet getaway away from crowds. Great for families, and an awesome pair of hosts!
Thanks for the wonderful review see you again soon Steve
