We bought our traditional little piece of heaven that is Le Peyruzel in 2004. It had been a dream of ours for many years to some day live in France. We, Roy and I (Letitia) had visited La Belle France many times with our children while they were growing up. Surprisingly we had never stayed in the Perigord Noir. Usually heading for the Med or the Atlantic coast from our home in Scotland. We did occasionally stay inland and we loved the beauty of the French countryside. The diversity of the different departments was truly breathtaking. In 2004 I had retired from the NHS in Scotland and when friends asked if we would join them on a trip to the Lot in France, we really didn't need too much persuasion! Roy and I talked about our life long ambition to 'live the dream' and decided it was finally time, if we were serious, to start looking for somewhere we could call home in France. We arranged many 'appointments to view' properties within a couple of hours drive from Toulouse Airport and so began the most exciting and challenging time of our lives.
Laetitia & Roy Evans purchased this cottage in 2004
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Charming, traditional Perigordian cottage. Spectacular views and breathtaking surroundings.
Letitia , Roy vous remercie de votre accueil très gentil
à ce bel endroit
il faut revenir dans cette belle maison.
What a delightful place to spend a holiday. The cottage at Le Peyrusel sits at the
top of a hill overlooking the valley below. We had our morning coffee and evening drinks sitting beside the pool admiring the view of Daglan nestled in te valley below- beautiful and peaceful. The cottage is well furnished and has every amenity you need. Roy and Letitia are on hand to give advice on the attractions in the area and there are many!! Children are especially catered for with theme parks, and river activities. My grandchildren had a ball.
Thanks for a lovely stay. We look forward to visiting again.
Great, what else can you say that hasn’t been said previously.
If you would like a feature filled holiday visiting the many local attractions or a quiet time relaxing around the pool this cottage has it all and more. Plus, you’ll think you’ve known Letitia and Roy forever, they make you feel right at home from the very off.
Thanks a lot, Pam & Barry and Pam & Bob
We have been home for two days and are thoroughly depressed at having left this little piece of heaven in the Dordogne. What an unbelievable location Le Peyruzel is. The cottage is wonderful, so much so that we didn't get to see many of the places available nearby, preferring long afternoons by the pool with it's wonderful views.
Laetitia and Roy are perfect hosts, nothing would be too much trouble for them in wanting to make our holiday perfect yet they were unobtrusive and let us get on with our holiday without interference. However, they were always available for advice and help with the location and what it offers. The evening at the marche nocturne at St Pompont was just perfect. Thanks for that one Laetitia.
If you enjoy France and the way of life, then this bit of the Perigord Noir will not disappoint you. We were going to be staying at Le Roque Gageac and as lovely as that is we are pleased that we changed our mind and selected Laetitia and Roy's cottage. We cannot fault it and we will definitely be back. Thank you for making this one of the best holidays we have had.
Karen, Neil, Ciaran and Aidan.
A delightful cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The garden and pool are beautifully situated overlooking a tremendous view over Daglan! The location is ideally situated for all the local sights and villages of Castlenaud, Domme, , Beynac etc, all within a 20 minute drive. The two local restaurants in Daglan are well worth a visit, the food was excellent. Roy and Letitia are the perfect hosts, taking care of all our needs and are always on hand to provide advice on places to visit etc if you need it. As two couples we had a fabulous two weeks stay here and would have no reservations in recommending this cottage to anyone. Thank you Roy and Letitia once again for your hospitality.
The new additions of the pool and gardens overlooking the valley made our stay even more special.
We couldn't have asked for a better location, nestled above the lovely town of Daglan and only minutes from the charming medieval towns of Castelnaud, Beynac, Le Roque and Dome, which shouldn't be missed. As mentioned by others, the view from the pool really is out of this world. The accommodation was great, just like the photos and other positive reviews. There was plenty of space in all of the rooms and having two bathrooms and three toilets made it ideal for a large family or big group. The kitchen was very well equipped and we had full access to the laundry. We also had the use of three bikes which were great for exploring the countryside. Roy and Laetitia were great hosts and took care of all our needs and answered our many questions about the surrounding area. All in all, a fabulous week and I would recommend this place to anyone.
Our charming, traditional Perigordian cottage of honey coloured stone is set in the heart of the area known locally as the Golden Triangle. France's most sought after holiday destination. Our loving restored.
cottage sits directly opposite the impressive, 13th Century Château du Peyruzel. Listed as a 'Monument Historique'.
The major attractions of Beynac, La Roque Gageac and Sarlat la Caneda (to name just a few) are all within an easy 15 min drive along the Dordogne River. The magnificent Bastide town of Domme is 5 minutes away across the Valley, and Castelnaud la Chapelle with its spectacular Chateau clinging to the edge of the hillside is a lovely 9km drive down through the Ceou Valley.
Le Peyruzel is perched high on the hills above the pretty village of Daglan where there is a Post Office, Boulangerie, Boucherie and a small super-market. In the award winning restaurant, Le Petit Paris, enjoy a gastronomic feast and sample the superb Bordeaux and Bergerac wines of the region. Cool off in the in the rock pools of the River Coeu which runs through the village or take a short drive to the banks of the Dordogne where you can try canoeing or enjoy a leisurely sail and marvel at the historic Chateaux of Castelnaud and Beynac sitting majestically above the riverbank.
Our newly installed swimming pool with its powerful jet pump is fantastic for cooling off in the summer heat. The traditional 'abri de jardin' is a delightful spot to relax in our comfy sofa or chairs and read a book or listen to some music (iPod docking station) or, have a glass chilled wine from the fridge by the pool or simply enjoy the amazing views across the valley.
