About the property

Five bedrooms with air con. Five bathrooms. Countryside luxury in old Andalucia

Loma La Parra is situated at the heart of Andalucia's most beautiful areas of mountains and lakes and set in several thousand square meters of private land, between two protected areas of extraordinary natural beauty, El Chorro and El Torcal and just 30 minutes from the famous, spectacular walkway, "el caminito del rey" or Kings Walk. Local activities include, horse riding, mountain biking, climbing, walking, water sports on the lakes, arial sports, sightseeing and shopping and golfing in nearby Antequera. Within easy reach are Malaga, Granada (the Alhambra and snow skiing), Cordoba and Seville, the coast and Gibraltar. Alternatively, just relax, soak up the sun and enjoy your peaceful surroundings; the views, the village life, the house, pool, barbecue and gardens.

Golf: Antequera Golf is 20 kms or half an hour from the villa.

Alhaurin Golf is 30 kms or 40 minutes away.

Both are in the mountains with spectacular scenery.

There are may more courses on the coast one or two hours away.

Coast/Beach

The Costa del Sol's beaches are 30 miles away which takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. The better areas are Fuengirola and the smaller beaches around Marbella.

A 2 to 3 hour drive will take you to the Atlantic windsurfing beaches around Tarifa.

Skiing: The Province of Granada is home to Andalucia's highest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada, and its local ski resort, Sol y Nieve.

There is an excellent, modern, lift network, good access, skiing to 3000 metres, and vertical descents of 1000 metres. Open from Christmas to the end of April, the resort is 2.5 hours from the house.

The private swimming pool measures 11m x 5m. There is an exceptionally spacious, tiled surround for sunbathing, a pergola shade and spectacular views to the mountains.

The nearby summer kitchen and barbecue with stone table and outside seating for 12 guests is the focal point for your outdoor dining.

There is a separate covered terrace with wooden pillars and beams, and a pine table to seat 10, plus a sofa and two armchairs.

Eating Out.

In the village there are many bars and a few restaurants There are supermarkets, a chemist, a doctor, butchers, bakers, take away pizza and roast chicken and a market every Thursday. There are banks with cash machines. Antequera, less than half an hours drive, is a superb shopping center with many restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.

An excellent villa, lovely pool and outside spaces. Great location. Caring hosts 10/10

A Great choice. Fantastic stunning countryside villa, very spacious and well equipped, set high up in the hills and yet still only 5 mins from the local village and 30 mins from a large town. The surrounding area is gorgeous.

We were a party of 10 adults and 2 children, we all loved the big outdoor seating & dining areas, excellent bbq area, huge gently sloping pool and padded sun loungers. The outside space is excellent whether you want some sun or need some shade. Stunning views over the valley, you cannot see another nearby house from the villa...

The kitchen area is quite large, is quite well equipped, and allowed us to all muck in and prepare some lovely dishes prepared with local produce from the village and supermarkets. The bedrooms are all very comfortable, air conditioned(if you want it) only one was not setup as a double.

We did have a couple of issues during our stay, both times, Colin & Francesca were at the end of the phone and arranged for the issues to be resolved within the hour. They are very caring hosts and want everything to be right for you.

Everyone had a superb week. We will definitely be returning.

Stunning property - highly recommend

Perfect for our large group of 13 aged 4 - 50 odd. Beautiful setting, clean and well equipped. Having both shower and poolside towels was brilliant and there is a vast range of films on the tv which was great for when the kids needed a break from the heat or a bit of quiet time.

Colin was very helpful with both local information and when we had any queries or problems.

Local village had two supermarkets which were adequate for our needs.

Only downside was those long winding roads to reach the villa, but I guess you don’t get the stunning views and scenery without that!

A wonderful property with a lovely pool and outdoor space. Great location and hosts!!

We had a fantastic time at Colin and Francesca’s place - the property is stunning and spacious, the surrounding area is beautiful and there is lots to do.

We loved the big outdoor seating areas and bbq, the pool and sun loungers and the large communal space and kitchen inside the house. The bedrooms were also very nice and comfortable. Can’t say enough how great the outdoor space and pool was - that was definitely our favourite part of the house! Everything was clean and very well stocked, and whenever we had any questions or issues, Colin and Francesca were very quick to resolve them.

There was so much to do in the surrounding area, and Colin and Francesca were great at giving fantastic recommendations of places to go and visit and restaurants to eat at. They even organised a paella delivery to the villa for us, and always ensured to tell us to book in advance for attractions that get booked up - eg Caminito del Rey and the Alhambra. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby towns Valle de Abdalajis (5 mins drive) and Antequera (30 mins drive).

Overall we had an absolutely fantastic time, both in the villa and exploring the region and visiting attractions. Colin and Francesca were superb. We will most certainly stay again at some point in the future!

Wow! Truly outstanding villa!

There is only one word that describes that first view of Loma la Parra ......WOW! You know when your teenagers are impressed you have hit the jackpot!

We visited at the beginning of July for a week with our four teenagers. The house itself has everything you could possibly need, a well stocked kitchen, plenty of social space so you aren’t on top of each other and generous bedrooms plus ensuites, ensuring no arguments! Solidly built too so the teenagers didn’t disturb us at night and nor did we disturb them in the mornings.

Where the property comes into its own though is the garden. A long private driveway ensuring privacy and no close neighbours, so no need to constantly tell the teenagers to lower their voices! A very generous sized swimming pool so the adults could swim while the kids played and no shortage of seating. There was no need to rely on umbrellas for sheltering when the sun got hot as there was a generous gazebo. The outside kitchen came fully equipped for fantastic bbq’s. For me personally the best bit was the views, surrounded on all sides by mountains, with eagles soaring on the thermals and goats heading past on their way for pasture, it was amazing!

We didn’t get out and about as much as we would have liked (will need to return!) but can recommend a day in Antequera, do remember about siesta time though! You will also find large supermarkets there to stock up. We spent a day on the coast for the teenagers, Puerto Banus is great for super cars as well as boats. Realistically though with such a great villa there was no need to travel far and a restful time was had by all.

Colin and Francesca were wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them, they answered all our questions before and during the visit promptly and Jose was wonderful at making sure we had settled in. The wine and cakes were very much appreciated by all. Even our canine friend just made our visit more memorable.

Would we return? YES

Would we do anything differently? We would hire a smaller car, the mini van we had was a little large for the mountain roads although we were getting used to it by the time we left.

Alla var mycket tillfreds med huset och dess utrustning. Fantastisk utsikt o husets med dess gemytliga inredning. Vädret var varierat men ganska blåsigt den vecka vi var där. Bada kunde vi fast det var lite svalt i poolen.

Kan mycket väl återkomma. Lagom avstånd från Malaga.

Owner's Response: Everyone was very happy with the house and its equipment. Great view o the house with its cozy furnishings. The weather was varied but quite windy the week we were there. Bathing we realized it was a bit cool in the pool. Can very well return. Fair distance from Malaga. Kära Lars och Marianne, Tack så mycket för ditt besök i början av maj. Du kom på bästa tiden för blommor men det är lite tidigt för simning, även om våra gäster i mars i år också haft poolen!

Amazing villa

5 retired couples stayed four nights at this lovely villa. It exceeded our expectations. The house is large and comfortably accommodates 10 people with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was wonderful and had everything we needed to make a few meals. The yard and views from the house were incredible. It is a short drive to the village ( and a couple of the group actually walked back to the villa from town 2km ). The grocery store in the village had everything we needed at bargain prices. Colin responded to several small issues we had immediately and Maria and Josef are the local contacts who took care of any problems and answered our questions. I cannot say enough about the wonderful suggestions we received from Colin and Francesca. The directions to the house, information on local fiesta, were all very much appreciated. Our only disappointment was the weather. Spain was experiencing unusual rain most of the 10 days we were there. We would have liked to have been out in the yard sitting by the the lovely pool every day. I guess we will just have to come back ! We would also suggest having Maria bring paella for dinner one night. We ordered enough for 10 and got enough for 20! There was plenty for dinner and lunch and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this property.
