About The Owner

Me (Shari) and my husband (Andy) live in Dawsonville, GA. We moved a couple of years ago from Johns Creek, GA-(from the suburbs to the country (sort of although they broke ground the day after we moved in and began building a Super Kroger, Publix, Marshalls, Pet Smart, etc. and all the other typical Chili's, etc..on top of the existing North GA Premium Outlets and surrounding stores). The city moved with us! I am originally from Atlanta & he is from NJ. We love to work out at Lifetime Fitness, take walks, & go to Northpoint Church. Our boys are grown, 2 boys each from previous marriages. We have 3 cats and contemplating the perfect time to get a puppy.

The Owner purchased this chalet in 2007

Why The Owner chose North Georgia Mountains

I was looking for a mountain property after my mother passed away. She was originally from Murphy, N.C. & I promised her that I would buy a place in the mountains. We lived in the suburbs of Atlanta so this would be used as a vacation home. When I walked up the stairs & looked out over the deck & saw that view, I said, 'I don't even care what the house looks like because I want this view!' Everyone that comes up to our property says the same thing, 'You've got the Million Dollar View'. It is truly spectacular. Hiawassee is truly special because it is situated around Lake Chatuge & the layered Blue Ridge Mountains. Almost anywhere you go you will have a view because there is water & mountains all around the area. I like this area also because it is one of the highest areas in Georgia (Brasstown Bald is not far). It's much higher than Helen. If you drive from Helen there is a mountain range you go over & up to get to our place. It's only about 20 miles but the higher you go the prettier. We think so anyway.

What makes this chalet unique

We love that we are able to see the views from almost anywhere in the chalet upstairs. We can go outside & sit in our rockers on the deck & watch the sunset, have our morning coffee at the kitchen table or have a conversation in the living room & still have the views. There are 2 sets of sliding glass doors so it truly feels like the outdoors is brought inside. Another really cool sight is to wake up & look out & see the clouds below sitting on the lake with the blue mountains punching through the clouds. You'll be mesmerized with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We see all kinds of wild life including black bears! One actually ran in front of us as we drove up our mountain looking back as he went to see how far back we were. He was fast. I love to watch the pileated woodpeckers with their big red tops or wild turkeys meandering around the place. It's always something new.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The views of lake and surrounding mountains were beautiful. The pictures on website match what you see in cabin. The cabin is very clean and decorated nicely. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful, yet there is plenty to do nearby. We went boating on Lake Chatgue, white water rafting in NC, panned for gold up in Dahlongea and went up to highest mountain in Georgia. The restaurants nearby are great, we ate at Michaelee's chocolate caffe, Chop House and Brothers at Willow Ranch. I would recommend this cabin for those looking for a great vacation, whether you just want to relax all day at the cabin or stay as busy as you want with nearby activities! We would love to come back, it was hard to leave!

Great views but minor details need to be addressed

  • 3 of 5

The views were amazing. Best part of the house. The screen door by the kitchen was broken (trouble latching it) when we arrived. The railroad ties going up to the steps are rotting away and caused us to trip multiple times. The grass needs to be cut. There is a huge nest of bees right at the bottom of steps. The Trash can lid is broken by the road, and there was a bunch of trash at the bottom of it that was not in a bag that was not ours. The trash can is way undersized for 3 adults and 2 kids for a weeks time. Also having a place for a weeks rental of a house and not being able to use the washer and dryer was kind of disappointing. The house also had a huge bug problem. Spiders every where. I am not down grading the house or the stay. I'm more just wanting to let everyone know the issues we found. I would possibly stay again

A Heavenly View

  • 5 of 5

Our family (four adults, three children) spent Thanksgiving weekend at the chalet. It was homey, clean and well stocked with linens, pillows and kitchen ware. The kids enjoyed the game room on the first floor and hiking the area. My favorite was the view from the second floor. The photo's doesn't do the view justice! It is incredible!! The chalet is almost mountain top but convenient to town and the grocery store. The second floor great room with an open living room and kitchen area gives plenty of family time and space. It has one bedroom, bathroom and game room down stairs and living room. kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms upstairs. Porches run across the front on both floors with grills ready to use. Shari was very easy to work with and answered all my questions timely. I would recommend this chalet. Looking forward to returning in the future!

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We went there with my family (7 of us) for memorial day weekend. Chalet is on top of the mountain with the view of Lake Chatuge and the mountains on the background. Place was big enough for all of us while cozy enough to spend some quality family time. Location is convenient and close to all the local attractions/cities. I would definitely recommend this place if you are trying find a nice place in Hiawassee.

Comfortable, Convenient, Affordable

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our two Grandkids and of course our furry kids had a wonderful visit, the property was awesome with everything you need, the view from the deck was beautiful, the house was so comfortable and homey, being pet friendly was such a plus and you could not tell that pets had even been in this property, beds were comfortable and we had plenty of room, location was convenient to everything you need and the town had a very peaceful warm feeling. Sheri was easy to work with and everything was EXACTLY as she said from the house to the booking, it was a great stay for a very good price, would definitely return and refer anyone looking at this property. Sheri, thank you for sharing your home.

Beautiful view, peaceful surroundings, less than 5 minutes to the Ridges Marina. Limited parking and not really accessable roads for pulling a boat
