Lakefront villa on Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Enjoy views of three volcanoes from our three bedroom home in this eco-tourism wonderland.
Relax in a peaceful, safe environment far from noise and city distractions.
Close to tranquil Mayan villages where you can shop for authentic weaved goods and learn about Mayan culture.
Our home is equipped with cable television, fireplaces, a full kitchen, dishwasher, clothes washing machine and dryer.
The house has a private dock and lakefront, as well as a spacious yard with avocado and banana trees. Enjoy a private massage, have a meal prepared for you at the house, take Spanish lessons, climb a volcano, shop for handmade textiles and crafts, relax.
We have a fulltime caretaker who can pick fruit for you or help with errands and a local property manager who speaks English and can help with anything you need. The house has a large master suite, a second bedroom with a full-size bed and a third bedroom with two double beds. Each of the bedrooms has its own private bathroom with a shower. But don’t miss our favorites: the outdoor shower on the master suite’s side balcony and the “volcano-view” bathtub in the master suite’s bathroom, which we designed on an elevated platform so you could take a bath while looking out on the magnificent view of three volcanoes: Atitlan, Toliman and San Pedro.
The house was built by local craftsmen and the stonework was done with stones from the property. Check out the gorgeous wall in the downstairs hallway.
The house is very private. It's located outside of any village, so it's very quiet. There's also no road-access to the houses so no car traffic noise or pollution, which can be an issue in some parts of Guatemala. The house is directly on the boat taxi line and the drivers can drop you off and pick you up. If you have a car, there is a very inexpensive pay parking area - with 24-hour security - at the boat taxi launch dock in Panajachel.
WiFi is available for a small daily fee paid directly to the provider.

No podemos esperar a volver
Our second visit to Lake Atitlan in two years. This time we stayed a month and hit the jackpot. The "Yellow House", as the locals call it, was fabulous. Our man, Antasacio, took care of every need. He secured firewood, water and arranged for launchas. We had family and friends for two of the weeks and they loved everything about the house and Lake Atitlan. Be sure to visit all the Mayan villages around the lake. Our favorite was Smokin Joe's barbecue in San Pedro and Panajachel. We also like Artesano in San Juan (reservations) and Ven Aca in Jabilito. Han's at Posada Habilito is a must. Best prices on the lake. if you like Italian there is Pequenos Pecados in San Pedro. As you can see, we are foodies so we really enjoyed the many choices.
We enjoy hiking so if you are a hiker there are plenty of trails. Our favorite was from Jabilito to Santa Cruz. It has a wonderful view of the three volcanos and the lake
Photographers will have a field day at Lake Atitlan.
Lake Atitlan is not the right destination for you if you are afraid of spiders or occasionally scorpions. They are harmless and won't bother you if you don't bother them. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and enjoy the laid back Mayan lifestyle, please don't hesitate to try the "Yellow House" on Lake Atitlan.
We highly recommend.
This was my 5th trip to Guatemala and it was my most enjoyable, much because of my wonderful stay at this house. I came to relax and relax I did! Waking up to morning coffee and sitting on the porch with the amazing views was my most enjoyable part of my day. The house was very comfortable and the views were unsurpassed!
The caretaker was so kind and helpful. He is there everyday from 8-4. The house is fully equipped in the kitchen, dishwasher, coffee-maker, microwave, etc.
If you want to take a hike, be ready, I am fairly fit, and I thought I read in a review that it was a 25 min hike to San Marcos, but it's really more like 1 1/2 hours, and having hiked the Grand Canyon and Mt. Washington, this hike isn't as bad, but it's still pretty strenuous.
In summary, this house, the amenities and location, were just like as advertised, and I was extremely pleased with my stay. So much, that I called to stay an extra night. I did not want to leave!
Thank you to all who make my trip possible!
Our family of 5 was very comfortable in this beautiful home. Anastacio (the caretaker) was super helpful when we needed him. This house is off the beaten path which has its upsides and challenges. The house has a stunning view of the lake, a beautiful garden, and a nice area to jump off the dock. If I had it to do over I would have planned food a little better - my teens eat a lot! A few times we walked to Jaibalito for food at the Posada (20 minutes or so) - the path after heavy rains has some challenging spots. We had Maria come and make a meal for us one day which was amazing - We should have planned to have her come more than once. Be prepared for some bugs, spiders and scorpions (we caught 2 in the house during our 5 nights). Taking the lanchas to different towns was fun but be prepared to deal with inconsistent fees and haggling before getting on the boat - for us it was generally around 20q per adult and 15q per child to go a couple of towns.
Luxurious, comfortable villa for 6 people and very well equipped. A very peacefull and wonderfull place.
Magnificent view of the lake and the volcanoes.
Easy to take the boat to go to visit the numerous villages around the lake.
Anastasio (the man of maintenance) answers friendly our slightest needs.
We recommend to all this villa to live an unforgettable stay.
The contacts with the owner were very easy.
What more can you ask for renting a home in a foreign land? We lucked out on this one!! This elegant and newer home has three levels and has the best volcanic views on this amazing Lake. Home is just perfect with tons of space to relax, plenty of bathrooms and a huge kitchen. We would take the short hike over to Jailibito for breakfast every morning. Wave down a lancha (water taxi) right from our very own where they came by all day. Just the ideal home to get away and just relax. Anastacio (groundskeeper) was just great, always offering to help even got us a hired private lancha for the day. A real value especially if traveling as a large family. We will return soon!
