Beautiful French Farmhouse with private heated pool & jacuzzi

Bedrooms 4
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

The house is a beautiful old farmhouse that has been lovingly upgraded to provide comfortable accommodation with all the conveniences of modern living whilst still maintaining the rural integrity of the building and its extensive surroundings. The house has four double bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 people. Free WIFI

Set in the Loire Valley, one hour south of Tours, in the tranquillity of the French countryside this escape from the hectic pace of modern life is surrounded by picturesque and peaceful landscape. Nearby in the local towns there are wonderful boulangeries and patisseries ready to make your mouth water with the smells and tastes of freshly cooked breads and treats. Local Châteaux and sites of historical interest remind you of the opulent and ornate civilisation that France was created from. And of course local bars and vineyards scattered throughout the region are home to some of the finest selection of wines in the world.

On arrival you will be met by my 'meet and greet' lady who speaks fluent French. There is a welcome basket and all the beds will be made up and towels for both bathrooms and pool are included.

There are golf courses within 30mins drive from the farmhouse

Guestbook comments from the manager

My family and I (both sets of grandparents, parents and two children 7 and 5) spent an idyllic week at Marilyn’s place in Cussay last July.

Location-wise, the house was just what we wanted – peaceful, off the beaten track and safe for children, but within easy driving distance of beautiful places for days out. The house was spotlessly clean, well-appointed with a great layout for that number of people, with plenty of space for eating in or outside and watching TV or reading.

The grandads loved the pond, and spent many an hour fishing with the children. The rest of the time we relaxed around the lovely pool (deep and large enough to do some proper swimming, but with the safety of the alarm for the children when not in use). The weather was great, though the hot tub was a welcome addition on cooler evenings!

Our days out included the Chateau at Villandry (spectacular gardens), a day in Loches and a day in Tours, but the highlight for the children was swimming in the lake at Bellebouche – def worth a trip.

In summary, we enjoyed our holiday in the Loire enormously, and hope to come back soon! Special thanks must also go to Marilyn, who very kindly went to the trouble of returning a pair of my mum’s special earrings that she left in the house. Thanks Marilyn, it was a pleasure staying in your beautiful home, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil family holiday.

Beautiful farmhouse in a peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

Thus house has excellent facilities and a real cooks kitchen. The pool was sparkling and very warm, we swam every day.

It was very hot outside but the house was refreshingly cool and the bedrooms were all large with comfortable beds and very good linen. Its a great base from which to explore the surrounding countryside and the many chateaux of the Loire valley although some are quite a drive away. The old town of Loches was lovely with some good restaurants and only about 30 mins drive away.

I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who loves a tranquil, and peaceful holiday.

The property is excellent in all aspects - high standards of furniture and facilities. We were a party of 4 adults, grandparents, son and daughter-in law- and granddaughter - plenty of room for everyone. The grounds of the property are extensive - I've never seen so many butterflies in one area on the wild flowers. The swimming pool was extremely welcome on hot sunny afternoons. The pool at the bottom of the drive is well stocked with small carp and rudd - enough to share with two herons.

We visited Loches on market day - Wednesday and other local towns and villages. We went to Beauval zoo- we arrived just after 9 and it was already extremely busy. They have 2 giant pandas! The zoo is a must visit.

The property is situated 2 miles from the main road and if you want peace and quiet, shared by wild deer and birds of prey, plus one or two tractors and a car every now and then, then look no further.

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

This place has it all. Peace and tranquility, heated pool, fabulous jacuzzi, great sunsets watching the red kites hover above the fields, shooting stars if you stay out in it late enough! and general overall serenity. It was the perfect retreat and base for in-laws and out-laws. Very well equipped and wanted for nothing. If you are looking to get away from it all with family and hear the toot toot of an owl at nightime then this is the place for you. We have great memories of our time there and hope to be back to make more happy memories with loved ones.

Peaceful holiday and totally private

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a totally peaceful and private holiday home then this is the place. There was plenty of room inside for two families, two comfortable lounges inside and three eating areas one inside and two out, plus en-suite facilities in three of the bedrooms.Wooded on one side and open fields on the other, our grandchildren could enjoy the heated swimming pool as loudly as they wanted (and they certainly did) without the worry of disturbing neighbours! Although the weather was not kind at the beginning of the week, the children were in the pool every day thanks to a steady 24 degrees. It was just a short trip to the local boulangerie every morning (my son even did the trip on his cycle a couple of times). As 'foodies' we cooked for ourselves every day and the large kitchen is beautifully equipped with everything you could need to cook a gourmet meal. While the family played in the pool or immersed themselves in the hot tub I spent some time watching a huge variety of birds that visited the woods and flew over the fields behind the pool, some highlights being a hen harrier, buzzards, kestrels, but the stars of the show were a whole host of beautiful golden oriels that visited the pear tree on the edge of the wood on a daily basis. Towards the end of the week the sun shone and it just put the icing on the cake of a lovely relaxing week in rural France. The only minor details that deterred me from giving it five stars were a broken paving slab near the pool that requires fixing and, as we had the bedroom facing the pool and always sleep with the windows open, we could hear the hum of the pool system.

Relax and enjoy a perfect French retreat

  • 5 of 5

I knew it was a great choice for our family 'meet up' as soon as we turned into the drive. If you want the perfect countryside situation, this is the place. You cannot see another building from anywhere in the extensive grounds. A walk through the little wood to the small lake to feed the ducks was a favourite activity for our year old twin granddaughters.

Most meals were taken outside on the terrace. We had fun in the pool and the hot tub. In the mornings we did the short journey to buy fresh croissants and bread for breakfast. The farmhouse is ideally situated to visit the many interesting attractions the area has to offer. It is extremely well equipped and the layout comfortably coped with our family, a real home from home.

If it's a feeling of being lost in the French countryside that you wish for, then this is the place. I love the French way of life and so enjoyed the ambience the farmhouse offers.

Glorious sunsets viewed from the BBQ next to the pool were a perfect way to spend the evenings. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This was just perfect for our two families. Lots of space, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, gorgeous surroundings, perfect pool and hot tub too! It was well situated to explore the local area, the weather wasn't great the week we were there so the DVD player was a godsend on a chilly afternoon. The owner was very friendly and excellent with communication. We will be going back! In fact as I am writing this my daughter (2 and 3 months) is screeching "Holiday house! Let's go back!" The house is perfect for two families as there are two sides to the house with two bedrooms at each end. Plenty of extra space and 4 bathrooms which meant there was never a queue. The house is not overlooked at all. Very nice boulangeries and supermarkets within 5 min drive. We were only ashamed of the amount of empty wine bottles we left behind! Sitting out on the terrace or in the hot tub with a glass of cold white wine was a bit addictive. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. It would also be a lovely place for colder times of year with a wonderful fire to toast your toes. It is about 4.5 hours from Cherbourg.
