Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Florida North Central Gulf Coast

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Need a place to stay during a graduation or a football weekend? Visiting a patient at Shands Hospital? Need a corporate apartment? Look no further than this comfortable apartment.

If you want to stay within walking distance of Shands Hospital, the VA Hospital, the Veterinarian School, and University of Florida campus, this is the place for you. No hassle, no parking headaches, and all the amenities you need for a short or long stay in Gainesville.

The longer your stay, the lower your daily rate (the nightly rate is $125/ night, but the weekly rate is $72/ night + taxes and the monthly rate is $50/ night + taxes). Football weekends, graduation weekends and other special event weekends are $250/ night + taxes.

We are also always happy to give suggestions for favorite restaurants, Gainesville activities, day-trips, etc... we strive to make sure that all of our guests have a 5-star experience. The owners are very involved in the community, so they keep up to date on Gainesville activities and happenings and pass along suggestions to their guests.

You have two fantastic restaurant areas just 5 minutes away. Downtown Gainesville is just a 5 minute drive away, and the Archer Road restaurants are just 5 minutes away as well. If you prefer to travel by bus, there is a bus stop just steps away from the apartment.

The apartment is on the 1st floor and is newly remodeled with all new furniture and electronics. You will be extremely comfortable. While the outside of the condo buildings have an outdated 70s look, the insides are newly renovated! And the location couldn't be better.

The apartment is fully furnished to accommodate 4 people. The bedroom has a queen bed with a very comfortable mattress. We have a blow-up mattress for additional guests.

On-site amenities include 2 pools and 2 laundry facilities. The apartment is 575 SF. We are also always available if you need suggestions for outings, restaurants, etc...

The owner is an avid nature photographer, so is very familiar with all of the great spots to see alligators, bison, horses, birds, flowers, beautiful Oak Hammocks... you name it! You can check the local HOME Magazine: Living in the Heart of Florida (their magazine can be read from the website) to see her write-ups on local nature spots .

About Susannah Peddie

Susannah and Brian are both Florida natives (Brian is from Gainesville and Susannah is orginally from Lake Wales). Susannah is a mom and an avid nature photographer and loves to visit all of the beautiful parks and gardens in Gainesville (Paynes Prairie, Kanapaha Gardens, city parks, etc...). She also writes and furnishes pictures for a local nature column in each issue of HOME Magazine, a wonderful local Gainesville magazine. She loves to take nature walks. She also volunteers a lot for the community and serves on the boards of the University of Florida Performing Arts, Junior League of Gainesville, Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention, and the Gainesville Community Foundation.

Brian is in medical supply sales. He loves to fish, sail, and pretty much do anything water-related.

They both love Gainesville very much.

Recommended for long stays

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for 3 weeks- we were in town for a research project at UF. It was a great place and exceeded all our expectations. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The apartment is well equipped (kitchen, TV, towels etc.) and very clean. Air-conditioning works great. The owner was very nice. She was very considerable regarding the price for the long period as well as for my many changes. In one word: "recommended!"

Great weekend visit to Gainesville

  • 5 of 5

Susannah is an amazing owner. She's quick and eager to respond to all questions. The apartment itself was just what I needed. The bed is incredibly comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked with most every utensil you'll need. The wi-fi is strong and reliable. The room is spacious and clean. The location is close enough to the city, but far enough to give you a sense of relaxation, so it meets most any need you could have! I highly recommend this condo. My only criticism is that she doesn't have properties outside of Gainesville because her service is exemplary.

Perfect place for locals for in-between housing

  • 5 of 5

Great stay in quiet area next to southern border of UF. While waiting out the end of a lease to start another, this place provided a great in-between place to relax through a very stressful period. Susannah is a great and wonderful owner. She is very prompt in her responses, and very accommodating in resolving requests. The apartment was fully furnished and comfortable. The living room was set up very well with a comfortable couch and entertainment amenities. The dining room was cozy and had a nice ambiance. The kitchen had all the necessities and everything worked properly. The bathroom had a nice high pressure shower, which I personally prefer. The bedroom was homey and the bed comfortable. I was able to relax and sleep well. I would recommend this apartment to friends and family. It is located near a CVS for any 24 hour needs. It is also close to downtown, the newly expanded and renovated Butler Plaza near I-75 or you can drive south and visit Paynes Prairie.

Not Quite What I Expected But It Worked For Me

  • 3 of 5

I rented this condo as it was close to the University and centrally located in Florida. I was here for a month, to escape the cold from "up north". The location allowed me to travel to various parts of the city and the state easily. The space within the condo was sufficient for myself and occasional guests. The owner's pictures were a unique touch and the table with the bar stools was comfortable. What surprised me, though, was the description of a "5 star" experience. It was more like a 3 star motel. I needed to go to a store the first day and get a mop to really clean the floors. I also bought some silverware, so that I had enough when my guests stayed with me. There was not enough good light to be able to read at night. The pots and pans seemed like they had a sticky coating on them. But what really bothered me was the film on the two sliding glass doors, that prevented me from seeing outside. Now, it also prevented people from seeing in, but I think the vertical blinds would have been sufficient. Actually, the sliding glass doors should be replaced, as the latches don't work on the screens and are barely working on the doors. One needed to have the safety bar in the doors at all times, to feel safe from unwanted guests. In summary, though, it was worth the money I paid. If it is to be considered a "5 star", it would just need some upgrades.

Owner's Response: I greatly appreciate the feedback. I always ask guests to please give me feedback during their stay, rather than after, as I'm fully equipped to address any and all issues immediately. I have a full-time crew to fix anything that needs to be fixed. I tried to contact the guest multiple times during her month-long stay to see how she was doing and if she needed anything but I unfortunately never got a response. I never assume that no news is good news, so I reach out to guests during their stay to make sure they are happy. Had I known the guest felt the lighting was insufficient for her, I would have promptly bought a new lamp and set it up for her. I do supply dishes and silverware for parties of 4, which is the capacity of the apartment. I will definitely address the pots and pans and replace them with new ones if needed, and would have done so immediately had I known the guest was not satisfied. My cleaning crew also leaves a card (with their number) to welcome guests and on the card they ask that guests please call them (or me) if they are not satisfied and they will come back immediately. The decorative film on the sliding glass doors is a semi- transparent rice paper that allows for maximum light with the most privacy (without having to have the blinds closed, which causes almost complete darkness)- it was also a suggestion from a previous guest as it's a first floor apartment and on eye-level. The condos are very comfortable, they are in a great location in Gainesville, and are extremely affordable- they are half the price of a hotel with double the space, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and living area. I do everything I can to make sure guests have a great experience, and I ask in my arrival email, my condo notebook, in a welcome card from me, and in a mid-stay email, that guests please let me know if they need anything at all so that I have the opportunity to accommodate the particular needs of each guest. The reason I consistently earn 5 star reviews is because my response time is instant and because I do cater to the needs of each guest when they allow me the opportunity to do so. I highly encourage all future guests to please communicate with me during your stay. I also have 22 other rental properties at varying prices and am happy to pick the best option for their needs and budgets (top floors/ bottom floors, apartments/ houses, economic/ luxury options, sunny/ shady, 1/2/3 bedrooms, yard/ patio/ neither, etc.).

Great Experience!

  • 5 of 5

The owner of this rental does a great job of accommodating guests! We had a very positive experience while we stayed here for the Florida - Tennessee football game. It is about a mile walk to the middle of campus so it is very possible to walk rather than having to rely on cabs. Apartment is clean and they provided an air mattress for us as well. Thanks for the hospitality!

ten times better than staying in a hotel!

  • 5 of 5

My son and I were in town for a long archery tournament, the condo was perfect for winding down and completely relaxing from the long days. Very comfortable and clean. We drove to a nearby state park that was recommended by the owner, and it was incredible visit. We will definitely be back next year.
